"The Gerdau Best of the Land Award recognizes every year the best ideas in the sector of agricultural machinery and equipment as a way to encourage technological developments and to contribute to higher productivity in the field. The current growth in agricultural production, which will make it possible to set a new record in grain harvest, and the increase in the price of commodities such as soybeans and corn, makes it the right moment to invest in solutions that collaborate with the farmer's quality of life, combining innovation and quality," says Gerdau's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and General Coordinator of the Award, André B. "Transformation Strength" is the new advertisement Campaign of Gerdau Gerdau launched its new advertisement campaign, "Transformation Strength", an initiative that reinforces the importance of steel in the daily life of people and features a fundamental characteristic of its products: steel is 100% recyclable. The film, created in partnership with Ogilvy & Mather and produced by Dínamo Films, is being broadcast on open and paid TV channels in addition to printed, radio, and digital media in Brazil. Gerdau is the Second Most Internationalized Company in Brazil Dom Cabral Foundation announced the ranking of Brazilian Multinational Companies in 2013, which recognizes Gerdau as the second most internationalized company in Brazil. This annual study provides a detailed overview of the internationalization of the Brazilian companies and assesses the impacts of the country's foreign policy in this process. The survey, which considered data from the year 2012 provided by the Brazilian multinational companies, shows that year after year they continue increasing their rate of internationalization. With over 45,000 employees, Gerdau has industrial operations in 14 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia which together represent an installed capacity of over 25 million metric tons of steel per year. The United States, Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay are the countries with the largest presence of Brazilian companies, and also have Gerdau units. Gerdau Employees Participate in Reforestation Campaign in Mexico More than 130 volunteers from Gerdau in Mexico participated for the third year in a row in the Reforestation Campaign of the Ejidal Sierra de Guadalupe Park in Tlalnepantla by planting 900 trees. The initiative aimed to create a culture of commitment to the environment and encourage employee participation in projects for recovering public spaces within the community where they work and live. The Ejidal Sierra de Guadalupe Park is considered the ecological lungs of the cities of Tlalnepantla, Ecatepec, Coacalco, and Tultitlán. Gerdau's Germinate Program is Elected a National Reference Gerdau's Germinate Program, which is a social-environmental project, was ranked 5th on the list of Benchmarking Brasil 2013. The publication brings together the best initiatives of social and environmental responsibility practiced by Brazilian companies. To choose the best actions, Benchmarking Brasil has 15 experts from eight different countries who evaluate the programs enrolled. Among the criteria evaluated are the program's achievements and capabilities of continuity and replicability. The cases that received scores above the technical index of 7.1 were considered as benchmarks and become a part of the largest database of sustainability practices of open access in the country. This year, 30 companies took part in the ranking, and the top five scores ranged between 8.25 and 8.50. Gerdau's Germinate Program exists since 1990 and is the environmental awareness of students and teachers in the region of Ouro Branco (MG) through lectures and experiences. Over these 22 years of activity, more than 100,000 people have visited the Company's Center for Environmental Education. (Photo: Eduardo Rocha/RR Foto) Gerdau Receives Recognition for the On the Right Track Program Gerdau was recognized by the Childhood Brasil, organization that aims to protect children and ensure the rights of children, for the On the Right Track Program: a Vision of the Future. The initiative benefited 102,000 truckers, who provide logistics services for Gerdau in Brazil, in 2012, with programs of quality of life and citizenship. The goal of the initiative is to show appreciation to the truckers who provide services for Gerdau and strengthen their integration with the Company through courses about the importance of taking care of their health, quality of life, environment, safety on the highways, defensive and economical driving, and combating sexual abuse of children and teenagers. The recognition took place during the 7th On the Right Track Business Meeting in which Gerdau presented the case Volunteering and Protection of Children and Adolescents. The On the Right Track Program is an initiative of Childhood Brasil that aims to mobilize governments, companies, and nonprofit organizations to more effectively deal with child sexual exploitation on the highways. Childhood Brasil develops the methodology of the Program, giving support to companies through courses and training.

(Photo: Romero Cruz) Ouro Branco Mill Reaches Two Thousand Volunteers The Ouro Branco mill, Gerdau's steel producer in Minas Gerais, reached the historic record of 2,000 volunteer employees, a result of the Volunteer Program the Company's structured volunteer project that aims to raise awareness, train, and recognize the volunteer work of its employees. In 2012 alone, the Ouro Branco mill implemented 30 social projects in Minas Gerais, benefiting more than 280,000 people from 86 schools and institutions in the region. Worldwide, R$ 52.7 million were invested in more than 900 social projects in 2012 that were developed in 13 countries where the Company operates. All the projects are coordinated by the Gerdau Institute, which is responsible for the Company's social responsibility policies and guidelines.
