U8 Highlanders Practice: - Twice weekly (Spring and Fall) - Free twice weekly drop-ins throughout summer - ALL sessions run by Professional Coach Camp: Games/Tournaments: -Spring: Organised playdates -Fall: NorCalPremier U8 League -Maximum of two additional tournaments -Games run by Volunteer Coach - 5-day at 3 hours per day, during summer break

Tryout Process Register in advance via sportability (free) Two 90-minute tryouts per age group Players should wear soccer attire with shinguards, appropriate footwear and water Players assigned numbered pinny to use for both tryouts Players will move thru several drills Evaluators looking at four pillars of development Advice for players: effort, focus, and fun

Playing up Policy Generally not beneficial for player development If PSC feels a player will benefit from playing up, tryout evaluators will assess player with that age group A player may also play up if a team/age group requires additional players to form the team (and that player is at the appropriate skill level, physical ability, etc)

Tryouts- Selections Team selections made by 24-7 evaluators Selected players will be contacted to confirm spot on team Players will have 48 hrs from offer being made to accept or decline offer Acceptance requires payment at time of acceptance [NEW] Team meetings with Coaches & Team Manager will be held after teams are formed

Team Formation NEW FOR 2017 Players accepted into a Highlander "Pool for that age group/ gender Pool practices together in early Spring Purple vs White determination made after a few weeks of Spring practices, prior to Spring games P & W teams will then continue to practice next to one another (to extent possible based on schedules) Prior to Fall games (late August / early Sept), Purple vs White determination for Fall season made

Volunteer Requirements New in 2017 All families will be required to pay a refundable $75 volunteer deposit per player at registration Refundable if volunteer obligations met, by serving as: Volunteer coach, team manager, affiliated referee, member of the PSC Board, or by assisting the club with special events or activities as requested Irrespective of the above, volunteer donations are nonrefundable to players on a team that incurs league fines for failing to earn enough "referee credits

Referee Training course February 3-5, 2017 3-4 hrs Friday evening, all day Saturday, and 3-4 hrs Sunday morning (finishing in plenty of time for Super Bowl) Teams must have one, encouraged to have >1 ref 13 yr-olds can take course, but may not ref until they turn 14 Course and uniform reimbursed after the season Teams that do not earn enough "ref credits" may be fined by league. Fines will be funded by team s volunteer deposit, such that all volunteer deposits for the team will be forfeited.
