Moselle-Rhine-Ahr-Kyll: sportive roundtrip TOUR DESCRIPTION Extremely sportive: 4 rivers in 9 days! A bike round trip along the Moselle, the Rhine, the Ahr and the Kyll. This varied round trip begins and ends in Koblenz and takes you on well-developed bike paths through both the vine-covered valleys of the Moselle and Ahr and along the majestic Rhine and the little unknown Kyll. The route usually runs flat directly on the riverbanks, but it also leads to the heights of the Eifel and with a long descent back to the Moselle. The scenic contrast makes the tour particularly varied and it becomes a sportive treat.
1. day Koblenz/ Arrival Koblenz is the beginning and ending location of this cycle tour. So you can arrive in comfort and immediately start your first discovery tour: the German Eck, the Electoral Palace, the Old Town - there you go! 2. day Koblenz - Bad Neuenahr/ Ahrweiler 56 km Two rivers await you today! First you cycle a nice route on the Rhine bike path, then turn into the sun-drenched Ahr valley. Bad Neuenahr welcomes you glamorous with its spa park and casino and Ahrweiler's attracts with its beautiful medieval town center. 3. day Bad Neuenahr/ Ahrweiler - Hillesheim 66 km The Ahr Valley is getting tighter today. The bike path, however, very comfortably follows a former railway track, sometimes leads through a tunnel and again and again along steep vineyards. In the afternoon you cycle on the Kalkeifel cycle path and get to know the idyllic
Ahbachtal with the waterfall Dreimühlen. Once again on a railway line you can easily cycle slightly uphill via Kerpen with its imposing castle to Hillesheim with the old city wall. Here you have reached the highest point of the Eifel crossing and you can celebrate your individual mountain festival. 4. day Hillesheim - Bitburg 51 km Look forward to the Kalkeifel cycle path, as you start your day by cycling down hill through one of the most beautiful valleys of the Eifel, the Bolsdorfer Tälchen. This leads into the Kyll valley and from then on it goes on the well-developed and signposted Kylltal bike path to Gerolstein with the famous mineral spring. You cycle comfortably downhill through the volcanic Eifel with majestic castles high on the mountains and a baroque monastery on the roadside. This day promises a lot of variety and in the end lures a delicious local drink as a reward - even if it is not mineral water. 5. day Bitburg - Trier 56 km Green hills and forests, magnificent views and a glittering descent in the narrow Kylltal will inspire you today. Finally you reach the Moselle and Trier where still varied visits and discoveries await you. There might be a "Moseltröpchen" waiting for you here. 6. day Trier - Bernkastel-Kues 70 km A true landscape change, a new companion, because now you cycle along the Moselle. Take a break at the old ferry tower, and as well Villa Rustica, the Roman wine ship and the wine presses are worth a visit. Everything is almost right on the bike path and the kilometers just flow... 7. day Bernkastel-Kues - Cochem 77 km Tight meanders, sun-drenched vineyards: this is where the "Kröver Nacktarsch" grows. Stroll through Enkirch, enjoy the ride on a Moselle ship and on the magnificent bike path. But do not miss the pretty Beilstein or the Reichsburg located above Cochem. 8. day Cochem - Koblenz 49 km The sublime castle Eltz in the side valley lures to a short hilly detour. Also in the Moselle valley one castle lines up to the next and a cozy wine bar to the other. Almost too fast the last stage ends and when the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress greets us from the mountain, the Moselle meets the Rhine and you have reached your destination and completed the sporty round trip. 9. day Koblenz Departure After breakfast, your eventful bike tour ends in Koblenz and you can start the journey home with many beautiful impressions and tight calves.
