SPORTS TODAY Students enjoyed sports sessions today, participating in AFL, Cricket and Rugby League activities with assistance from visiting specialists. Thanks to development officers from Queensland AFL, Queensland Cricket and Australian Rugby League. - Peter Townsend STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS Thanks to all who supported the Go Purple for Epilepsy day on Tuesday. We raised $168 for this worthy cause. Student council will operate the barbecue at Under Eights Day on 31 May and has resolved to have a free dress day later this year in support of the Special Children s Christmas Party, an annual event we have supported for several years. PRIMARY FRIDAY SPORTS RESULTS The interhouse competition this term has been in cricket and softball games. Congratulations to all students for their sporting participation. Leichhardt was victorious over Burnett 15 11 in Year 3/4 cricket final and Stuart- Russell won the Year 5/6 softball final competition against O Regan 14-5. PRIMARY NETBALL On Tuesday and Wednesday, Natalie Kassulke, Deborah Maile and Skye Ward competed in the Wide Bay Netball Selection Carnival. The girls played extremely well and learnt a lot about netball during the 2 day competition. NO SCHOOL TOMORROW GOOD FRIDAY Best wishes for a safe and happy Easter break
NORTH BURNETT PRIMARY TENNIS TRIALS Congratulations to Matthew Duffin on his selection to the North Burnett Tennis team to compete at Hervey Bay on 9 and 10 May. NORTH BURNETT PRIMARY RUGBY LEAGUE Congratulations to Misi Maile, Blake Jackson, Micheal Briggs, Garret Hill, Zane Burns, Hayden Parr and Ryan Marshall on their selection to North Burnett Under 12 and Under 11 Rugby League teams. They will play in Wide Bay competition at Hervey Bay. U12 compete on 10 and 11 May and U11 on 18 and 19 May. SECONDARY WIDE BAY SPORTS TEAM MEMBERS Secondary athletes travelled to competitions this week. Congratulations to Misty Tucker (Soccer), MJ Havili (Rugby Union) and Bailey Kimber (Golf), who were selected to represent Wide Bay in competitions later this year. EXTRA TRAINING FOR SECONDARY ATHLETES Wednesday morning strength and conditioning sessions will commence in week one of next term. These before-school sessions will be held from 7am and are available to all secondary athletes who wish to increase their sporting performance. There will be a small associated cost. Thanks to all for your support by Going Purple SUPER HOLIDAY COACHING CLINICS The NRL will host a Super Holiday Coaching Clinic for boys and girls aged 7 13 years at Gayndah. Coaches include: Petero Civoniceva (Bronco, Qld and Australian Legend) Mario Fenech (South Sydney/ NSW representative and Footy Show personality) NRL Game Development staff The 2hr coaching clinic will consist of a variety of basic Rugby League drills and modified games involving passing, catching, kicking and tackling skills, introduced and practised under the guidance of qualified coaches, with the main emphasis of the session placed on having FUN. Players will participate in a number of controlled and monitored activities involving tackling and body contact a mouthguard is strongly recommended. Players will require a drink bottle, hat, sunscreen and suitable training attire and footwear (sandshoes or football boots).
