Instlling the Pinpoint GPS Modules! WARNING Before working round electricl system components, disconnect the ttery cles from the ttery to prevent injury or dmge to the electricl system due to n ccidentl short circuit. 1. Strting with the negtive ( ) led, disconnect the trolling motor ttery cles from the ttery, or unplug the trolling motor from the ot's power receptcle. 2. Remove the five screws from under the trolling motor hed. Remove the cover from the trolling motor hed. 52749 Screw loctions under trolling motor hed 3. Remove the cle grommet from the trolling motor hed. - GPS module mounting holes - Cle grommet 54435 4. Plce the upper GPS module into the trolling motor hed s shown, with the GPS cle exiting the module from elow. Secure the upper GPS module to the trolling motor hed with two mounting screws. Push the power wires to one side to ese instlltion of the GPS cle. Route the GPS cle out of the trolling motor hed, through the slot in the cle grommet s shown. NOTE: The cle grommet is molded to llow the GPS cle to e routed under it. eng 3

Plce the cover onto the trolling motor hed. Ensure tht the cle grommet is seted in the trolling motor hed nd tht no wires re pinched. Instll the five screws tht secure the cover to the trolling motor hed. IMPORTANT: Do not overtighten the screws or use power tools to tighten the screws. 4 eng

6. Extend the trolling motor column so tht the coiled power cle is s long s possile. Strting from the trolling motor hed, wrp the coiled GPS cle round ech coil of the power cle until you rech the lower mount. This will plce the coiled GPS cle inside the coils for the power cle. 54436 7. Remove the side pnel screws from ech side of the trolling motor. Gently pull the side pnels wy from the mount, tking cre not to dmge the locting ts, nd remove the side pnels from oth sides of the trolling motor. 54454 - Side pnel screws - Locting t eng 5

8. Remove the sttus indictor light pnel from the trolling motor y lifting it up, then rotting it to cler the foot relese lever. Do not unplug the sttus indictor light pnel from the trolling motor. 54527 9. Instll the lower GPS module into the empty slot into the trolling motor se in the following order: Plce the lower GPS module gently into the empty slot. Route the NMEA cle through the slots s shown, with the connector exiting the trolling motor se. NOTE: If the NMEA cle will not e used, it cn e coiled nd left inside the trolling motor se. Remove the cp from the femle GPS connector. Route the mle GPS connector through the slot, nd connect it to the femle GPS connector y ligning the pins nd locting ts in the connectors. Press the connectors together, then turn the nut 1/4 turn to the right until it locks. Gently press the lower GPS module into the opening until it is fully seted. 6 eng

11. Instll the side pnels onto the trolling motor. Ensure tht the sttus indictor light pnel is seted etween the side pnels s shown, nd tht no wires re pinched. 54529 - Sttus indictor light pnel not seted incorrect - Sttus indictor light pnel seted etween side pnels correct 12. Ensure tht no wires re pinched etween the side pnels nd the trolling motor. Tighten the side pnel mounting screws. 54454 - Side pnel screws - Locting t LINKING THE HANDHELD REMOTE TO THE TROLLING MOTOR The first time the trolling motor is powered up, the hndheld remote will need to e linked to the trolling motor. The linking procedure is listed s follows: 1. Strting with the positive (+) led, connect the trolling motor power cles to the ttery. 8 eng

2. Within ten seconds fter connecting the power cles, press the left rrow utton nd right rrow utton on the hndheld remote t the sme time. The trolling motor will emit low tune to confirm tht the hndheld remote hs een linked to the trolling motor. - Left rrow utton - Propeller utton c - Right rrow utton c 54153 If you wish to cler the linked hndheld from the trolling motor's memory, press the left rrow, right rrow, nd propeller uttons t the sme time. You will need to complete the link procedure gin to use the hndheld remote with the trolling motor. MOUNTING ANGLE CALIBRATION IMPORTANT: This clirtion is required nd is normlly completed once when the GPS modules re instlled. It should e repeted when the trolling motor is moved from one ot to nother. This clirtion cn e done with the ot in or out of the wter. e c d - Left turn - Right turn c - Mnul mode d - #2 utton e - #1 utton 54148 IMPORTANT: A fixed GPS position is required to complete the mounting ngle clirtion. The Xi5 will emit n udile tune once it hs cquired fixed GPS position (in the defult udio mode), nd the GPS sttus indictor light will illuminte. eng 9

1. Power up nd deploy the trolling motor. Adjust the motor height so tht the motor is cler of ny ostructions while turning. IMPORTANT: Sty sfe distnce wy from the propeller the trolling motor is in n opertionl mode.! WARNING Rotting propellers cn cuse serious injury or deth. Never strt or operte the motor out of wter. 2. Use the left turn nd right turn uttons to steer the unit so tht it is fcing stright hed, prllel with the keel of the ot, with the nose cone of the lower unit fcing forwrd nd the propeller fcing ft. Once the lower unit is positioned s close to prllel with the keel s possile, press nd hold the mnul mode utton, then press nd relese the 1, 1, then 2 uttons in sequence. The trolling motor will emit n udile tune, flsh the sttus indictor light, nd then return to mnul mode, completing the mounting ngle clirtion. COMPASS CALIBRATION IMPORTANT: This clirtion is completed t the fctory. It should only e repeted if the Pinpoint GPS system is not responding properly. This clirtion must e done with the ot in the wter, using the primry propulsion engine. 10 eng

IMPORTANT: A fixed GPS position is required to complete the compss clirtion. The Xi5 will emit n udile tune once it hs cquired fixed GPS position (in the defult udio mode), nd the GPS sttus indictor light will illuminte. - Mnul mode - #1 utton 53737 1. Locte suitle re cler of ostructions to nvigtion (oth ove nd elow the wterline) to perform the compss clirtion. 2. Deploy the trolling motor. Verify tht you re in loction where your trolling motor nd primry propulsion engine will not hit ottom or other ostructions. 3. Press nd hold the mnul mode utton, then press 1, 1, 1. The trolling motor will emit three scending tone eeps. 4. Use the primry propulsion engine to slowly drive the ot in two complete circles. The trolling motor will emit tune when the compss clirtion is complete. RESET TO FACTORY CALIBRATION To reset the trolling motor to the fctory clirtion, press nd hold the mnul mode utton, then press 1, 1, 4. When the trolling motor is powered up nd deployed, it is immeditely cple of operting s conventionl trolling motor. The trolling motor will require pproximtely 30 seconds to cquire fixed GPS position. Hving cler view of the sky overhed, with no lrge trees, power lines, ridges, or uildings to interfere with the GPS signl, will improve the GPS ccurcy nd reduce the mount of time required to otin fixed GPS position. Once the unit hs cquired fixed GPS position, the GPS ccurcy will continully improve for severl minutes. It is recommended to power up the trolling motor s soon s possile efore opertion to llow the fixed GPS position to ecome s ccurte s possile. Power up the trolling motor y connecting the ttery cles to the trolling motor tteries, or plugging the trolling motor into the trolling motor power plug (if equipped). The trolling motor will emit udio signls to mke the opertor wre of its sttus. The trolling motor will emit one eep when it is powered up. The trolling motor will emit three eep tune once it hs cquired fixed GPS position, nd the GPS sttus indictor light will illuminte. OPERATING IN MANUAL MODE In mnul mode, the trolling motor opertes like conventionl trolling motor. It llows the opertor to mnully control the direction of trvel nd thrust level of the trolling motor, using the directionl controls on the hndheld remote or wireless foot pedl. Refer to the following illustrtion nd instructions to operte the trolling motor in mnul mode with the hndheld remote. Once the trolling motor is powered up, it is redy to operte in mnul mode. Mnul mode is the defult mode fter power up, nd lso if the GPS signl is lost while in GPS operting mode. The trolling motor will emit one eep to indicte its sttus in mnul mode. Turning the Hndheld Remote On or Off The hndheld remote is lwys on, nd is redy for use nytime tht the trolling motor is powered up nd in the deployed position. Steering To turn left, press the left turn utton on the hndheld remote. To turn right, press the right turn utton on the hndheld remote. The ville steering rnge llows the trolling motor to turn eyond 180 for opertion in reverse. Speed Control Press the propeller on/off utton once to strt the propeller, nd press the propeller on/off utton gin to stop the propeller. The trolling motor will emit two eep tone when the propeller is strted, nd the propeller sttus indictor light on the trolling motor will illuminte. The trolling motor will emit two eep tone when the propeller is stopped, nd the propeller sttus indictor light will turn off. The system is equipped with 20 speed levels. Press the increse speed (+) utton to increse motor speed y one level, nd press the decrese speed ( ) utton to reduce the motor speed y one level. Holding the increse speed (+) or decrese speed ( ) uttons will cuse the speed level to increse or decrese until the speed level is reched. Holding the increse speed (+) or decrese speed ( ) utton for 2.5 seconds will increse the speed level from 0% to 100%, or decrese from 100% to 0%, respectively. The trolling motor will emit two eeps when it reches the 100% or 0% speed level. The trolling motor will emit two eeps if the user tries to increse or decrese the motor speed eyond its limits. ANCHOR MODE Operting in Anchor Mode Anchor mode llows the ot's ow to remin in fixed loction, nd will utomticlly ccount for wind nd current chnges to keep the ot in the selected loction, using the trolling motor steering nd speed controls. In order for nchor mode to operte, the Pinpoint GPS system must hve chieved fixed GPS loction, indicted y the trolling motor emitting three eep tune, nd the GPS sttus indictor light will illuminte. eng 13

Setting the Anchor Press the nchor mode utton to plce the system in nchor mode. When the nchor mode utton is pressed, the system will lock onto the fixed GPS position t the moment tht the utton ws pressed. The trolling motor will emit one scending chirp to indicte its sttus in nchor mode, nd the GPS sttus indictor light will link slowly. While nchor mode holds the ot in the selected position, the ot my rotte or pivot round the trolling motor's steering xis. The orienttion of the ot will follow the wind nd/or current. Exiting Anchor Mode Press the nchor mode utton gin or press the mnul mode utton. The trolling motor will emit descending chirp nd the GPS sttus indictor light on the trolling motor will stop linking nd remin on. 14 eng

The trolling motor will utomticlly steer to mintin nvigtion long tht projected line. The trolling motor will emit n scending chirp to indicte its sttus in heding lock mode nd the GPS sttus indictor light will link slowly. The heding lock utomticlly djusts for current nd wind conditions. The trolling motor will drive the ow of the ot long this course, while the ot itself my e skew to the direction of trvel due to current or wind conditions. In heding lock mode, steering control is utomtic nd motor speed is user selectle. In extreme current or wind conditions, it my e necessry to increse the motor speed to mintin the desired heding. Adjusting Motor Speed If heding lock mode is selected from mnul mode, the trolling motor will run t the lst selected speed. The motor speed cn e mnully djusted in heding lock mode y pressing the increse speed (+) utton or decrese speed ( ) utton. The trolling motor will emit two eeps when the user tries to exceed the ville motor speed limits. Adjusting the Heding While in heding lock mode, the heding cn e djusted y pressing the left turn or right turn uttons on the hndheld remote. The trolling motor will resume heding lock nvigtion sed on the new trolling motor heding. OPERATING IN ROUTE MODE Route mode hs the ility to store nd recll user defined routes. The trolling motor will emit one eep (nd the GPS sttus indictor light will link) for every 2 m (6.5 ft) trveled while recording. Press nd hold ny of the numered memory uttons to stop recording nd store the route to the selected memory utton. The trolling motor will emit tune to confirm tht it hs stored the route. The trolling motor cn store up to eight routes, ech up to 6.4 km (4 miles) in length. Overwriting stored route is ccomplished using the sme procedure s storing new route. Reclling Stored Route A stored route cn e reclled while operting in ny mode y pressing the route plyck utton, then pressing the desired memory utton. The trolling motor will emit n scending chirp to indicte tht the route hs een successfully reclled. IMPORTANT: When reclling stored route, the system will clculte stright line course from your current position to the nerest point on the reclled route. IMPORTANT: If the trolling motor loses the GPS signl while in ny GPS mode, the trolling motor will emit n error tone nd utomticlly return to mnul mode. When reclling stored route, the trolling motor will nvigte to the nerest point on the route, then trvel to the most distnt end from the ot's current position. At ny time while trveling long stored route, the direction of trvel cn e reversed y reclling the stored route gin. Once you hve reched the end of stored route, the trolling motor will set nchor in the nchor mode nd will emit n scending chirp to indicte tht the ot hs rrived t the end of the stored route. eng 21

The system will utomticlly set trolling speed of 1.0 mph (1.6 kph) nd will compenste for current nd wind conditions to mintin this speed. Pressing the cruise control utton gin will turn the cruise control off, indicted y descending chirp from the trolling motor. While cruise control is turned on, the GPS speed over ground cn e djusted y pressing the increse speed (+) or decrese speed ( ) uttons. Pressing either utton once will djust the speed y 0.1 mph (0.16 kph) ccordingly. For exmple, to set the cruise control t 1.3 mph (2.1 kph), press the cruise control utton, then press the increse speed (+) utton three times. The nchor position you chose to recll is over one mile wy from your current loction, or the system hs not cquired fixed GPS position. Refer to the Operting in Anchor Mode section of this mnul. When I try to recll stored route, the trolling motor emits n error tone nd will not nvigte long my route. Why is tht? You re more thn one mile wy from the nerest point on the selected route, or the system hs not cquired fixed GPS position. Refer to the Operting in Route Mode section of this mnul. Why did the hndheld remote stop working? Severl conditions cn cuse the hndheld remote to stop working. Verify tht the trolling motor is locked in the deployed position. Cycle the trolling motor power off, then ck on. Finlly, check the ttery in the hndheld remote nd replce it if necessry. The Pinpoint GPS will not store n nchor point, recll route, or hold heding lock. Why is tht? The GPS hs not cquired fixed GPS position. Allow t lest 60 seconds for the GPS system to cquire fixed GPS position. Listen for three eep tune, nd lso look for the GPS sttus indictor light to illuminte, indicting tht the system hs cquired fixed GPS position. Also, verify tht no ostructions re overhed (such s ridges, uildings, lrge trees, etc.) locking the GPS ntenn's view of the sky overhed. After selecting mode, the trolling motor emits n error tone, then does nothing. Wht is wrong? The GPS hs not cquired fixed GPS position, the trolling motor ttery voltge is low, or there is loose ttery connection. Listen for three eep tune, nd lso look for the GPS sttus indictor light to illuminte, indicting tht the system hs cquired fixed GPS position. Check ll connections.
