The Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club is committed to the Learn To Skate USA program of excellence. Our classes follow the guidelines developed by Learn To Skate USA and are divided according to age and ability. To ensure the best quality, all of our instructors are experienced in the test and competitive structure and are current members of US Figure Skating and certified by Learn To Skate USA. Priority is placed on giving individual attention within the group environment so the skater can feel comfortable and progress to their maximum potential. If you should have any questions regarding our instructors or the Coordinator of our Learn to Skate Program, contact the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club office. AAFSC Refund and Credit Policy. There will be no refunds issued for Learn To Skate classes. If a skater drops the class within 14 days of the start of the regular scheduled session, a credit will be issued to the skater s account. After 14 days, a class can be dropped only for medical reasons with a doctor s note. All credits will be prorated from the date the class is dropped. Please see the AAFSC office staff if you wish to drop a Learn To Skate class. Discounts. Discounts are available ONLY on Learn To Skate, Tuesday Tots, Advanced Adult LTS and Shooting Stars. There are NO discounts on Therapeutic Skating and Competition Club. Receive a $20 discount if you register by Tuesday, January 2nd Persons signing up for two Learn To Skate sessions a week will get ½ off the lower priced session. Minimum age requirements. The minimum age for the Learn To Skate program is 3 years old. The basic hockey skills class is designed for skaters ages 3-6; The WINTER Basic Hockey Skills class is offered only on Tuesdays. See class schedule or an instructor for details. Skates, helmets and clothing. Rental skates and helmets are available for all classes at no extra charge. Helmets are limited in number and are available on a first come basis. Feel free to bring your own bike, hockey, or all-sports helmet to class. Helmets are required for all Snowplow levels as well as for Basic 1 skaters. Helmets are highly recommended for all other levels. Evaluations. All skaters will be continuously evaluated each week. If at any time you believe your child is in the wrong class, please contact their instructor or the Learn-To- Skate Coordinator, Mary Johanson. A formal evaluation will be completed at the end of the session. The Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club is offering the opportunity for our Learn-To- Skate skaters to take a private lesson. These lessons are offered to give the student oneon-one instruction to improve their Basic Skills. Skills at Basic 3 and 4 become more difficult and skaters may benefit from extra one-onone attention A Professional Staff member or a Junior Coach may be contacted for private lessons. How it works! 1. Talk to the instructor after class. 2. Come to the office and ask staff for assistance with private lesson scheduling. 3. Ask for the Professional Staff list. 4. Ask for the current Ice Schedule. 5. You may contact any Professional or Junior Coach listed on the Professional Staff list. 6. Payment for instructor is directly paid to instructor. 7. Payment of ice is made to the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club. 8. You may have one lesson a week on any general ice session. 9. Instructor time is scheduled through the instructor. 10. BEGINNING HOCKEY This class is play oriented, covering introductory skating and basic hockey skills for ages 3-6. Skaters are to have passed Snowplow Sam 3 (Please Note this Change) or Basic 1 prior to enrolling in this class. Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club presents The student will be working on hockey badges 1-4, which consist of proper stance, marching across the ice, swizzles, snowplow stops, backward skating, crossovers, and Mohawks. Hockey instruction will incorporate carrying, shooting, and passing the puck. You must be an Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club Basic Skills Member to participate.
