The 5 W s of Who? KidSport is a national children s charity designed to help children overcome financial barriers so that ALL kids can participate in sport. KidSport Manitoba accepts financial donations as well as used sports equipment. What? KidSport assists with sport registration fees and provides equipment to qualified applicants who otherwise could not afford to play. Since 1993,KidSport Manitoba has raised over $2,100,000and assisted over 15,000 children in Manitoba. In 2009, KidSport Manitoba assisted 1,518 children with over $287,000. When? KidSport conducts various fundraising activities throughout the year in order that we have sufficient funds to help as many children as we can. Where? KidSport has chapters in 7 regions of the province. Due to lower population levels, some regions are at a disadvantage when it comes to fundraising ability, which is why we have to pull together at a provincial level to ensure we raise the funds we desperately need. SENIOR GIRLS Total Danielle Lemoine 2052 Ashlie Ducharme 1908 Michelle Stecki 1822 Sydney Carter-Squire 1788 Leigha Carnevale 1768 Kyra Karlicki 1604 SENIOR BOYS Total Mitch Hupe' won tie-breaker roll-off 2279 Liam Naylor 2279 Brant Townsend 1968 Sean Coutts 1865 Mark Link 1858 Why? Being able to play a sport and have fun while developing crucial life skills is something that many children and families take for granted. KidSport kids need recreation in their lives perhaps more than most, because it gives them something to aspire to when life is limited by family finances. How To Apply KidSport raises funds through corporate donations, foundation grants, planned giving and special activities and events. Funds that are raised help offset the cost of participant registration fees for community based sport programs. Funding is administered by Sport Manitoba's Regional Offices. Application deadlines for all regions are April 30th and October 15th of each year. Winnipeg Region and Westman Region also have an additional application deadline of July 15th. Based on demonstrated need, assistance of up to $300 per individual is available to children between the ages of 5 and 18 to help offset the cost of registration fees. Provincial Sport Organizations must recognize planned activities. See the KidSport website for more information, application forms and procedures www.kidsportcanada.ca 6 31

PABCON president, Jose Guandique was quoted; I am pleased with this information because I m sure this will give us more energy, to continue the daily effort to do bigger and better the bowling in our countries. The official web site for the Pan Am Games is http://www.toronto2015.org When bowling was first introduced into the Pan Am Games the venue had four disciplines, Singles, Doubles, four person Teams and Masters. Teams were comprised of four women and four men. Today s modern Pan Am Games athletes compete in two disciplines, Singles and Doubles and the teams are comprised of two women and two men. The Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games sport program includes 52 disciplines within 36 sports, and just over 6,000 athletes. Of the 36 sports in total, 28 are the Olympic sports that will be part of the Rio 2016 program and 8 are Pan Am only sports. IOC Making Changes - Could Bowling Benefit? The International Olympic Committee announced that wrestling one of the oldest sports of the games has been removed, many bowlers wonder how this might help bowling. Kevin Dornberger, president of the WTBA is quoted: The current IOC shortlist was published in 2011, bowling was in the last cut out. The next short list will be determined in 2015; we hope to be on it. There are 37 other sports that also want in the Olympics who are our competition; this is a process that requires perseverance and patience. I'm not very patient, but that's the way it is. The good news is that the IOC does appear to be serious about removing some existing sports so that new ones have an opportunity. Without removal there is no opportunity. Bowling leaders continue to work at having the largest participated sport in the world included in the Olympic venue. 7
