What s New for 2016-17 o2 nd Grade Developmental Program o 3v3 Half Court Games o 6 players playing at a time on each side o Promotes more touches for the players o Coaches on court with players teaching o Geographical Divisions o Age Groups will be divided into two conferences: o Eastern Conference Lunsford, Cardinal Ridge, Hutchison Farm, Liberty, Little River o Western Conference Mercer, Aldie, Arcola, Buffalo Trail, Pinebrook o Elimination of North/South breakout o Closer practices for coaches and players, easier to manage o Age Groups with low numbers may be combined into one conference o Championship Games will feature Eastern and Western Conference Champs
Team Formation Process ohouse League Evaluations o Run by TrueAP o Provides data from Evaluation Stations o Rank players to attempt to maintain parity o Coaches encouraged to attend evaluations o Drafts o Drafts will be held Oct 25-27 at Freedom HS o Division Coordinators facilitate draft process o Snake-style selection process (1-n, n-1, 1-n, etc.) o Draft order picked out of a hat o Coach s child(ren) protected o Placed in the appropriate round based on evals oassistant Coach pairings o Not protected in draft o If coach wants to pair up, they select assistant s child during the draft o Reasonable exchanges will be considered and must be agreed upon by both parties and the division coordinator

Player Safety Safety of our players is the #1 concern for the MLBL program Concussion Awareness Program, Background Checks and Coaches Clinics designed with player safety in mind Coaches will be encouraged to always have an assistant coach or other adult present during all MLBL practices and games Coaches are encouraged to schedule parents to rotate being in attendance. Parents can be used to monitor kids in halls/restrooms, tend to injured player, etc.

Coaches Conduct o Zero Tolerance Policy o If a coach or player is ejected from a game: o Automatic next game suspension o Review from board before reinstatement o 2 nd offense gone for the season o Referees are going to make mistakes, just like your players are going to make mistakes. Live with it. Let it go. o Set the example for your team, and do not tolerate it from your kids o SPORTSMANSHIP. It is the name of the game.

MLBL Online Scheduling Portal Online scheduling portal for MLBL practices (and house league games) Coaches will be sent an email to create a login on the portal website (mlbl.teamopolis.com) Parents/Players can view schedules without a login Coaches can use as communication tool to send messages to parents Any scheduled changes will be updated and an email will automatically be generated Site offers IPhone application to view schedules and receive league messages Travel pre-season practices will be generated and posted on this site
Game Reporting Travel Program o Submit your game reports within 24 hours after the conclusion of your game o Electronic process within FCYBL/LCMSS o Please be diligent about this o Very important for 5 th grade in month of December during round robin play and towards end of season o MLBL goal 100% compliance for on time score reporting House League Program o Scores will be recorded online through Teamopolis o Scores should be entered within 72 hours of the completion of the game o BOTH TEAMS should log in and enter scores for the game
o Coaches should communicate through their Commissioners if there are issues Communication is key to success! o All communication should run through coach o Please set up e-mail list and phone tree use Teamopolis portal! o Please stay on top of messages and communicate with parents o Use online portal as resource for schedules

Halftime shooting contest trial o Elementary Divisions (grades 3-5) o During SCRIMMAGE WEEK only (Sat Dec. 3) o Each team lines up at opposite baskets, and every player gets one (1) free throw attempt at the end of the second quarter. o Any made baskets will count toward scoring o Designed to promote shooting and give an opportunity for everyone to score o The 3:00 halftime break will follow the shooting contest
