Get Involved, Barrel Racers Need YOU Please help us raise more money for our contestants. If you know of potential sponsors who would help in making the dreams of many young barrel racers come true. Please encourage them to become involved and being a sponsor of one of our Josey events OR Josey contestants.. In 1966, rodeo champion barrel racer, Martha Arthur married rodeo champion calf roper, R.E. Josey. The following year they held the very first barrel racing / calf roping school in the nation. Forty eight years and well over 150,000 students later, one will still often find waiting lists to attend a Josey Clinic. In the spring of 1981, R.E. and Martha Josey held their first barrel race at the Josey Ranch in Marshall, Texas, for barrel racers age 20 and under. The first Josey Jr. World Barrel Race was very well received and an immediate success. The care of the arena provided as close to perfect conditions as possible for barrel racers and their horses. The competition still grows each year with contestants traveling from far away as Australia to enter the event. Twelve years later, in 1993, considering the thousands of Josey Clinic and School Alumni, a second major barrel race was introduced at The Josey Ranch. This was a competition strictly for Josey students and former students of any age to reunite at The Josey Ranch; a homecoming, so to speak. It was named The Josey Reunion Barrel Race, and each year as the number of Josey alumni grows, so do the entries into this great event as the horse trailers are once again in route to the Josey Ranch of Marshall, Texas. In the first fifty years of the Josey Clinics, schools, and barrel races, all 50 of the United States of America have been represented at the Josey Ranch. The efforts of R.E. and Martha Josey, Team Josey, and the Josey Ranch staff are to make each year bigger and better for The Josey Reunion and Jr. World competitors, with more prizes, larger payouts, and more scholarship money. Our corporate and local sponsors have been wonderful supporting our events, but this year we strive to award larger prizes to our barrel racers than ever before in the history of these events. The Josey Reunion and Jr. World events offer prizes to the top 40 of each competition along with cash prizes. Many of these barrel racers (of all ages) work year round and save to make the trip to Texas in hopes of winning one of the prestigious events. They come to the ranch filled with passion for the sport they live and breathe. With stars in their eyes, and big dreams for the future, they make their runs with all their heart hoping they will stand tall as champions. Help us keep these dreams alive for so many boys, girls, men, and women. We are offering BRONZE Sponsorships for our events for $100. With your sponsor agreement you will be assigned a contestant in the Josey Reunion AND the Josey Jr. World competitions. Your name, or business name, will be announced as a sponsor each time your contestant makes a run during the events. If your contestant wins the competition, YOU will win a trophy Bob Berg Custom belt buckle for being their sponsor. The Bob Berg buckle, valued at just under $500 will read. Josey Reunion (or) Josey Jr World Champions sponsor. (There will be one sponsor buckle for each event.) Your $100 sponsorship will be divided $50 for the Reunion and $50 for the Jr. World. Fifty dollars may not seem like much money to many, but collectively it can offer prizes and cash back that could change the life of a barrel racer. Please take a look at the attached sponsor application. If you would like to be involved in the Josey Reunion and Josey Jr. World Barrel Races by becoming a BRONZE sponsor, your efforts would be greatly appreciated and help build the dreams of the great young participants of this sport.
