RULES & CONDITIONS: 1.The show is run in accordance with the byelaws of the Dartmoor Pony Society, as amended/updated by Council. 2. No Member/Competitor/Exhibitor may knowingly show a pony in a class where the Judge has owned, bred, sold, leased, broken, trained or produced that pony or where the pony has been owned, bred, sold, leased, broken, trained or produced by the Judge s immediate family (husband, wife, parents, children, brother or sister) partner, employer or employee. An exhibitor may not show under a judge for whom he/she has produced, broken or trained an equine since 1 st October in the previous year. 3. Please note that all ponies must be PURE BRED DARTMOOR ponies registered in the main body of the Dartmoor Pony Society Stud Book or SR1 or SR2 registered ponies & the correct registration number MUST be quoted on the entry form. 4. All owners MUST be members of the Dartmoor Pony Society (with the exception of ridden classes, see 4b. below) and be aware that the maximum height of a Dartmoor Pony is 127cms where this differs from qualifying class descriptions. 4a. Owners MUST be members of the Dartmoor Pony Society to receive a DPS rosette & must produce their current membership card at the time of the award. The Owner is the person in whose name the pony is registered in the DPS Stud Book.. 4b. For 2017, Ridden classes may be entered by non-members of the Dartmoor Pony Society on payment of a one-off day membership of 5. Rules of the Dartmoor Pony Society must be adhered to by all competitors. Rules are on the Dartmoor Pony Society website (http://www.dartmoorponysociety.com/shows) and will be available on the day in the Secretary's tent. 5. Entry Fees: Members - 10 per class. FOAL Classes 5. Non-members, ridden classes only 15 per class plus one off 5 day membership fee. 6. Prize Money: 1 st 10, 2 nd 6, 3 rd 4 Rosettes to 6 th place. If 3 or less forward then first prize money only will be awarded, if there are 4 to 6 entries forward 1 st & 2 nd prize money will be awarded, 7 or more entries forward then 1 st, 2 nd & 3rd prize money will be awarded. NB All prize money to be collected on the day. 7. All stallions & colts three years old & over must be in possession of either a Ministry of Agriculture Licence, a DPS Veterinary certificate or a DPS Veterinary Licence. All riders of stallions MUST have attained their 11 th birthday by the 1 st January in the current year in order to compete in all classes. All handlers of stallions & colts MUST have attained their 14 th birthday by the 1 st January in the current year. 8. Stallion Bridle Markers: ALL colts and stallions 2yrs and over MUST display a stallion bridle marker available from the NPS and other societies. (A limited number will be available for sale on the day). 9. Correctly secured Skull Caps/Riding Hats that meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING current Safety Standards/specifications MUST be worn at all times when mounted and also by competitors in Young Handler classes: All PAS 015; VG1; ASTM F1163 04a onwards; SNELL E2001; AS/NZS 3838 2003 onwards. In addition the new BS/EN standard will be allowed, once approved with the finalised number being advised in due course. PLEASE NOTE that from 1 January 2017 the list of standards no longer includes BS/EN1384: 1996 or 2012 (or prior year suffix). 10. No spurs may be worn in any riddden classes. 11. No ponies may be coralled anywhere on the show field. It is an offence to tie a pony to the outside of a trailor, wagon or any other structure unless attended by an adult at all times. 12. ALL CATALOGUE NUMBERS TO BE COLLECTED ON THE DAY. 13.The Northern Dartmoor Pony Show & its officials do not hold themselves responsible in any way for any loss, injury or damage to any persons, animals or property in connection with the show. Each owner is asked to pay 3 towards the costs of paramedics on the show field. 14. The committee reserve the right to amalgamate classes if insufficient entries are received. 15. The owner/handler of any animal deemed to be out of control may be asked to remove the animal from the showground. 16. TROPHIES: All trophies are the property of the NDPS and where awarded they MUST be returned when requested in a CLEAN & UNDAMAGED condition to Miss S Scott, Clott House Farm, Ellenthorpe,Boroughbridge YO51 9HJ. Any trophies being returned on show day by prior arrangement must be with the secretary by 8.30am. 17. Any person wishing to lodge a protest with reference to any person or exhibit shall do so in writing within 30 minutes of the termination of the class & at the same time shall deposit a sum of 50. If on investigation by the committee the protest is not sustained, the deposit shall be forfeited. 18. VETERINARY PRACTICE ON CALL Oakhill Veterinary Centre 01772 861300. RULES FOR CLASS 21 A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: i) Won an open NPS affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class ii) Won a Ridden class at an Olympia, Horse of the Year Show or RIHS qualifying round iii) Qualified for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS Ridden classes iv) Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year). v) Qualified for the M&M Ridden Championship final at Olympia in previous years vi) If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in its second year it is immediately de-noviced and cannot compete in the Picton Final. 2

Ring 1 To commence 9.30am Judge: Mr P Boustead 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in classes 1-9 qualify for the P(UK) Glyn Greenwood M&M in hand Championship for the 2018 Annual National Championship at the Ponies(UK) Winter Classics 2018, Equifest 2017. The highest placed pony in the top three, who has not previously qualified, will qualify for the NPS/Highbrook Stud M&M InHand Summer Championship 2017 Class 1 Yearling colt or gelding The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Championship. The 2 highest placed colts are eligible for the COLT CHAMPIONSHIP & the 2 highest placed geldings are eligible for the YOUNGSTOCK GELDING CHAMPIONSHIP. Class 2 Yearling filly The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Championship. The 1 st & 2 nd placed ponies are eligible for the FILLY CHAMPIONSHIP YEARLING CHAMPIONSHIP (Judge: Mr P Bousted) The 1 st & 2 nd prizewinners from classes 1 & 2. Class 3 Two year old filly or gelding The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Championship. The 2 highest placed fillies are eligible for the FILLY CHAMPIONSHIP & the 2 highest placed geldings are eligible for the YOUNGSTOCK GELDING CHAMPIONSHIP. Class 4 Three year old filly or gelding The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Championship. The 2 highest placed fillies are eligible for the FILLY CHAMPIONSHIP & the 2 highest placed geldings are eligible for the YOUNGSTOCK GELDING CHAMPIONSHIP. Class 5 Two or three year old colt The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Championship. The 1 st & 2 nd placed ponies are eligible for the COLT CHAMPIONSHIP YOUNGSTOCK CHAMPIONSHIPS (Judge: Mr P Boustead) GELDING CHAMPIONSHIP Two highest placed geldings from Classes 1, 3 & 4 FILLY CHAMPIONSHIP 1 st & 2 nd from class 2 and the two highest placed fillies from Classes 3 & 4 COLT CHAMPIONSHIP 1 st & 2 nd from class 5 and the two highest placed colts from Class 1 OVERALL YOUNGSTOCK CHAMPIONSHIP Champion & Reserve Champion filly, colt and gelding to compete. The champion to receive 10. Cont. 3

Champion & Reserve go forward to the overall Joan Petherbridge Championship. 'New Exhibitors' are those who have never shown at the Northern Dartmoor Show but they may have exhibited at other Dartmoor Breed Shows. CHAMPION 20 RESERVE 10 NDPS Restricted Classes To follow on after class Youngstock Championships Open to pure bred Dartmoor ponies who have not won a 1 st prize at a DPS star show at the time of entry. Judge: Ms J Newbery Class R1 NDPS Restricted Adults In-Hand Open to mares 4yrs of age or over. Class R2 NDPS Restricted Adults In-Hand Open to geldings 4yrs of age or over. Class R3 NDPS Restricted 2yrs+ Stallion In-Hand Open to colts and stallions 2yrs of age or over. Class R4 NDPS Restricted Youngstock In-Hand Open to yearling colts, fillies and geldings. Class R5 NDPS Restricted Youngstock In-Hand Open to fillies and geldings 2 or 3yrs of age. RESTRICTED CHAMPIONSHIP (Judge: Ms J Newbery) All 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners from R1 R5 NPS/Saracen Horse Feeds Home Produced In Hand Classes These classes are open to pure bred registered M&M ponies which are either stabled at home or in a DIY yard and which since 1st January in the current year have not been shown by a producer or stabled in a producer s yard other than on a DIY basis or at stud. To be owned/kept, produced, ridden/handled by a person who does not receive remuneration in cash or kind from working with horses/ponies. No professional producers are allowed into the ring to groom/strip the horse/pony. To be run under National Pony Society Rules 2017. Please enter this class in the spirit it is intended. Competitors who contravene the above will be disqualified. Judge: Ms J Newbery Class HP1 Youngstock Open to yearling colts, fillies and geldings. Class HP2 Youngstock Open to colts, fillies and geldings, 2yrs and 3yrs. Class HP3 Adults Open to mares 4yrs of age and over. Class HP4 Adults Open to stallions and geldings 4yrs of age and over. HOME PRODUCED CHAMPIONSHIP All 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from HP1,HP2, HP3 and HP4. 4

Judge: Mrs J Green 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in classes 1-9 qualify for the P(UK) Glyn Greenwood M&M In Hand Final at the Supreme Championships 2017 and Winter Classic 2017 The highest placed pony in the top three, who has not previously qualified, will qualify for the NPS/Highbrook Stud M&M InHand Summer Championship 2017, except class 10. Class 6 Stallion Open to stallions 4yrs of age or over. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the MALE CHAMPIONSHIP. The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship Class 7 Mare with a certificate of service Open to mares 4 yrs of age or over. Certificate to be available for inspection. Mares entered in classes 8 and 9 are not permitted. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in FEMALE CHAMPIONSHIP Equifest in Hand Qualifier The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship Class 8 Novice Broodmare Open to mares 4yrs of age or over not to have won a brood mare class before closing date of entry, with foal at foot. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the FEMALE CHAMPIONSHIP The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship. Class 9 Open Broodmare Open to mares 4yrs of age or over, with foal at foot. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the FEMALE CHAMPIONSHIP The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship. Class 10 Foal Open to foals out of a mares in classes 8 and 9 by a registered Dartmoor stallion. All foals must be at least THREE weeks old on the day of the show. IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIPS Judge: Ms J Newbery JOAN PETHERBRIDGE NEW IN HAND EXHIBITOR Adult CHAMPIONSHIP Open to eligible exhibitors from ALL Adult In Hand classses excluding child handler and junior showing CHAMPION 20, RESERVE 10 Judge: Mr P Boustead and Mrs J Green JOAN PETHERBRIDGE NEW IN HAND EXHIBITOR Overall CHAMPIONSHIP Open to the Joan Petherbridge Youngstock Champion, Reserve and first Reserve, and Adult Champion, Reserve and first Reserve. MALE CHAMPIONSHIP Open to Champion & Reserve Champion from the COLT CHAMPIONSHIP) and 1 st & 2 nd prizewinners from Class 6 (stallion class). SUPREME IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIP (Judges: Mr P Boustead and Mrs J Green) Open to Champion & Reserve Champion female, male & gelding. Champion is eligible for the DPS Star Rosette and a trophy to keep kindly donated by Mr & Mrs P S Taylor and 20. Reserve to receive 10. NPS/KILMANNAN M&M IN HAND SILVER MEDAL ROSETTE CHAMPIONSHIP (Judge: Mr P Boustead) A Silver Medal Rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered pony in the M&M In Hand section. The owner of the qualified pony must become a Adult Qualifying or Life member to enter the final. The Sponsor s Rosette is also awarded to the pony receiving the qualification. To be run under National Pony Society Rules 2017.(See end of schedule) Ring 2 To commence 9am. Judge: Mrs J Green The highest placed pony in the top three, who has not previously qualified, will qualify for the NPS/Highbrook Stud M&M InHand Summer Championship 2017 Class 11 Geldings Open to geldings 4yrs of age or over. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the Gelding Championship. The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship. Class 12 Barren Mare Open to mares 4yrs of age or over, without a foal at foot and without a certificate of service. The 1 st and 2 nd prizewinners are eligible to compete in the Female Championship. The highest placed NEW exhibitor is eligible to compete in the Joan Petherbridge Adult Championship 6

QUALIFIER INFORMATION BSPS - The OLYMPIA Heritage Mountain & Moorland Open Ridden Class: Registered Pure Bred Dartmoor ponies 4 years old & over, riders any age. Kindly sponsored by Blue Chip The 1 st & 2 nd prizewinners from the class will qualify for the semi final to be held at the BSPS Heritage Championship Show at Arena UK. One judge may be appointed but the marking system must be used for the qualifying rounds. To be judged on a 50/50 marks system. 50 marks for Show/Freedom of action, and 50 marks for conformation & breed type. Ponies, owners & riders need not be BSPS Members to compete in the Olympia Breed Semi-final qualifying classes but pony, owner & rider will need to register to compete in the semi-final to be held at the BSPS Heritage Ch Show. This show is also a qualifier for the BSPS Classic Security UK Ltd Challenge. For qualification details please see BSPS Rule 516 as per the 2017 BSPS Rule & Show Handbook. This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Championship Show on 23 rd 26 th August. The 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd prizewinners in classes 14, 16 & 23 will qualify. Competitors competing in BSPS classes must only use Tack permissible in BSPS classes on the showground whilst mounted & are subject to the rules of BSPS whether members or not. B.S.P.S. PREMIER LEAGUE This show is a qualifier for the B.S.P.S. Premier League, the 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd & 4 th placed ponies in Heritage Leading Rein, First Ridden Open Ridden, HWHP Classes will qualify. B.S.P.S. CHALLENGE All qualifying shows that are affiliated to the BSPS are qualified for the BSPS Challenge and schedules must state :- Open Lead Rein, First Ridden, Show Pony, SHP, WHP, Cradle Stakes, Nursery Stakes, Int SRT, SH, WH and Heritage M&M Lead Rein, First Ridden, Ridden and WHP. The show is a squalifier for the BSPS Challenge. Animals must qualify for the Challenge by attending any BSPS affiliated show and competing in the appropriate class. Ponies must NOT have qualified for the 2017 Horse of the Year Show in the appropriate class. B.S.P.S. Black Country Saddles BEST RIDER. The Best Rider in each of the following Open classes will be awarded a Best Rider card and qualify for the final at the B.S.P.S. Summer Championship Show: Heritage Lead Rein, First Ridden and the best rider 25 years and under in the Heritage Ridden Classes. BSPS 2B - BSPS 2B - This is a Points Show for BSPS 2B (Heritage Dartmoors). NPS NPS Qualifying Rounds, Breed Show Rules: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members and at breed shows ponies can qualify for finals even if their owners are not members. Owners of qualified ponies must become adult Qualifying or Life members to enter the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern from 1st-3rdAugust 2017. The highest placed pony, if owned by an NPS member, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies, if owned by NPS members, are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships, Breed Show Rules : These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. At breed shows Silver Medals may be won by non-members. The owner of the qualified pony must become a Adult Qualifying or Life member to enter the final. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony,. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show 1st 3rdAugust 2017. PONIES ASSOCIATION (UK) - 1st 2nd and 3rd placed ponies placed in the competition will qualify for the 2018 Ponies(UK) Winter Classic and Equifest 2018. No membership is required to enter or compete in any Championship final. NB: Classes 1-9 are qualifying in hand classes (excluding foal classes) for PUK Glyn Greenwood. 10
