Germany - Heidelberg - Koblenz, Rhine Bike Trail Part 4 2018 Individual Self-Guided 6 days / 5 nights OR 7 days / 6 nights Dominik Ketz/Rheinland-Pfalz tourism GmbH The beautiful Rhine valley is an ideal destination for cyclists. You start your tour in romantic Heidelberg and travel along the German Riviera through famous wine towns like Rüdesheim. In Bingen am Rhein the river turns north and makes its way through the slate stone between Hunsrück and Taunus regions. Along with the Loreley and Dragon Castle, the Rhine is the main tourist attraction of the area. The River Mosel meets the Rhine at the German Corner in Koblenz and you reach your destination beneath the hills of the Siebengebirge.
Itinerary Day to Day Day 1: Heidelberg Individual arrival in Heidelberg. Visit the world famous Castle above the Neckar, take the funicular up Königsstuhl and stroll through the narrow alleys of the old town center. Day 2: Heidelberg - Bensheim/Zwingenberg 42-48 km You follow the famous Bergstraße, the republic s smallest wine region. Enjoy the mild climate on the German Riviera. One of the highlights of the day is the market place in Heppenheim. Via Bensheim you reach Zwingenberg. Explore the small alleys beneath the Bergkirche (Mounatin Church) and taste the local wine in one of the many restaurants and bars. Day 3: Bensheim/Zwingenberg - Bodenheim/Mainz 46-59 km You bike through the Rhine plain and take a ferry across the river in Gernsheim. Visit the German Viticultural Museum in Oppenheim. In Nierstein you have the opportunity to go on a boat tour on the Rhine. You spend the night a few kilometers outside of Mainz in Bodenheim in an old winery or directly in Mainz. Day 4: Bodenheim/Mainz Bingen 37-45 km You should visit the Church of St. Stephan with its beautiful Chagall windows in Mainz. You can either take the quiet bike trail left of the river through romantic fields and meadows or pass through lovely Eltville on the right side of the river. From here, a side trip takes you to the Eberbach Convent. Afterwards you make your way to the famous wine town Rüdesheim. A gondola takes you up to the Niederwald monument (included), where you have an excellent view over the Rhine valley. Ferry to Bingen on your own.
Day 5: Bingen Koblenz 63 km The romantic Middle Rhine valley is one of the highlights of the trip. You reach Bacharach and pass the legendary Loreley. On request we can book an overnight in Boppard for you. On the other side of the river you can see Braubach and the Marksburg, before you reach Koblenz. Take the gondola to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress or mingle with the happy wine drinking folk in the restaurants and bars. Day 6: Individual departure Enjoy the last few hours in one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Germany before your departure. Unisex Bike Bikes Ladies Bike Mens Bike Electric Bike The bikes have 7 gears with back pedal brake or 21/24 gears with freewheel. Please note that we offer mostly unisex bikes (the same frame for ladies and men, no cross beam), but we also have some ladies and men specific bikes. The bikes are equipped with one saddle bag and a speedometer. On request we can also provide a map holder or handle bar bag and/or a second saddle bag. Each bike is equipped with a small repair kit, for minor repairs. We provide a bike lock for every two bikes. We do not offer rental helmets because of sanitary reasons, but recommend you to use your own. The switchable electric drive gives you a new bike feeling. Cyclists of varying fitness can book a bicycle tour together. Climbs can be handled easily.
