We take immense pleasure in organizing the first ever Balkan Badminton Series Tournament, organized between 28-30 April 2017 in Iasi, Romania. We request your kind support for the event to make it a grand succes and a good beginning of such events in our city. The registration closes by 18 April 2017. So inform your friends and colleagues who wish to participate in the tournament as soon as possible. Come as a Team and win great prizes at our Hall. We will ensure that you will have fun and some amazing moments of the game. This tournament is open for both Men and Women (Doubles) and Mixed Doubles. The invitation is open to all badminton fans, veterans, amateurs (begginers and advanced) and everyone who is not a professional player. I. Dates of Tournament: The Opening Ceremony is scheduled for Friday 28 April 2017 and the Closing Ceremony on the evening of Sunday 30 April 2017. Technical meeting will be on evening of Thursday, 27 April 2017. Hours of competition It is anticipated that competition will start on Friday at 10:00hrs and continue to approximately 22:00hrs. Depending on the number of registered participants and number of scheduled matches the starting time could be subject to change by organisers but not earlier than 10:00. Competition will finish early on Saturday because on Saturday night we will have a big PARTY!!! Sunday we will play until we will finish all matches and we will have the Awarding and Closing Ceremony. By entering this tournament you agreeing that photos taken during this event may be used in promotional material by BBS. V. Prizes All participants will receive a welcome package including sponsored products and services. The winners of every category will receive medals and gifts from sponsors. VI. Closing date: 18 April 2017 VII. Tournament format: Individual competition + Team competition The age of the players will be determinated as at 31th December 2017. An athlete can compete in a younger age group or in a higher level. The age of the youngest player in the doubles and team events will determine the teams age category. Where there are insufficient entries in an age category or division, the categories may be combined in order to conduct a viable competition. The awarding of medals will not be affected, that is, individuals and teams will still be awarded medals in the age category in which they originally entered. Bronze, Silver and Gold medals will be awarded in all categories where entries are received. If an individual athlete without a team wishes to play in the team event, please specify this when entering your registration into the system and the BBS Organizing Committee will do their best to accommodate all requests. After the closing date for registrations, a player who has entered and is then unable to take part through illness, injury or any other unavoidable cause, may be substituted by another registered player providing that the rules for age category and grade are followed. The BWF GCR regulations 25 regarding player withdrawals do not apply to this event. If a player withdraws from one event, they may still participate in another event. The BBS Organizing Committee reserves the right to move athletes into a different division. A. Individual competition MD, WD, XD Doubles (men, women) and Mixed Doubles will be offered in three divisions: Veterans, Amateurs and Open. 1. Veterans age groups +30 +36 +37 +43 +44 +50 +51 +57 +58 +64 +65 2.Amateurs players never played in national championship as junior, athletes who play in noncompetitive or lower-grade club leagues, as well as social and casual players Advanced Beginners 3. Open category no limit about the age and experience Athlete and event eligibility: Athletes may enter a maximum of three individual events in differents age or value categories. The BBS badminton competition for individual events is dependent on the number of registrations. Players can expect to compete in a minimum of two matches per event. 3
Draws and Match schedule The BBS Organizing Committee shall post the draw and the schedule of the matches one week prior to the start of the competition on the BBS website, the Tournament Software website and each day of competition at the venue. It will be the responsibility of all athletes to ensure they have checked the draws and are available to play at the scheduled time and location. Matches may be called up to 10 minutes prior to the scheduled match time. Scoring system All matches in individual events will be the best of three games to 21 points, with extension until 29 all when the winner shall be the side winning the 30th point. Officiating of matches Athletes may be required to umpire their own matches and may be asked to assist with other umpire duties. Umpires will be provided for all matches in medal rounds subject to availability. B. Team competition Mixed Team Event (min 4men& 2women)-5 matches (2MD+2XD+1 WD) - age groups +30 +39 +40 +49 +50 +59 +60 The number of entries received will determine each draw. The BBS Organizing Committee reserves the right to combine any event. Teams will be made up of a minimum four men and two women, with a maximum of six men and four women. Every team is preferable to have a name and must nominate a team captain / manager. Athletes may only be a member of one team, in one age category. The team must play in the division equivalent to the division of the highest level player and in the age category of the youngest player. Players may play up a division from their individual entry but may not play lower. Team composition Before each Tie the captain will have to submit the names of the players paticipating in the tie in the order of the matches. Ties / Order of play Each player must play in at least one tie to be eligible for a medal. Suggested order of play is: 2nd men s doubles, women s doubles, 1st men s doubles, 2nd mixed doubles, 1st mixed doubles. A different order of play may be used by mutual agreement between team captains. Should there be a dispute as to order of play, then the above order must be used. Results Team Captains shall deliver the original tie sheet for each tie to event control within 5 minutes of the official finishing time. Tie sheets must be signed by the captain of each team, who will be responsible for the accuracy and completion of all details. Substitutions / Withdrawals for team event Once a team composition is submitted, no player/pair can be substituted, except the Referee may approve a substitute (or substitutes) for a player who, in the opinion of the Referee is incapacitated by illness, injury or unavoidable hindrance. A player who is substituted may take no further part in that tie. 4
Scoring system for team event All matches in team event will be the best of three games to 11 points, with extension until 15. VIII. Entry Fee: Individual events 1 event 12 eur 2 events 20 eur 3 events 25 eur Team events 10 eur/player The entry fees must be paid by bank transfer or immediately after arriving in sport hall. Payment must be done before their first scheduled match, failure to do, means that they will not be allowed to play. Late entries may only be accepted at the discretion of the tournament organizing commitee with a late fee of 5.00. Entry Fees that are paid on the day of the Tournament will be in Cash only. IX. Clothing and advertising: In order to ensure an attractive presentation of badminton, only acceptable badminton sports clothing will be permitted during play. The name of the player and the name of the player s association on the back of the shirt are both optional. It is not mandatory for partners to wear the same design/colour clothing during the events, although it is preferable. However, all athletes as a member of a team is good wear the same uniform during each tie in the team competition. Insurance: Any medical treatment necessary away from the sport hall is at the players or officials own expense. It is recommended that associations of players or individual participants cover these risk by medical insurance. Medical: A medical doctor and a physiotherapist will be present in the Sports Hall during the tournament. Visas: After entering player(s) in the tournament it is the player s responsability to ensure they apply for visas in good time for the event. The BBS Organizing Commitee will do everything possible to enable the entered players to obtain a visa.
