Adventure Led by Garrett Anderson 8:00am - 12:00pm 4th - 6th grade Meet at Lansing Christian School Spanish Led by Starr Velasquez 9:00am - 12:00pm Kindergarten - 3rd grade Grab your bike, pack a water bottle, sunscreen, helmet and a bible and get ready to have some fun in the summer sun with Mr. Anderson. In this camp we will go around to the different parks in South Lansing on bike, play games and hear stories from God s word. June 20-23 Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 12:00pm 4th - 6th grade Room 319 Come have fun with Señora Velásquez and Pastor Medina while learning Spanish at the same time. We will explore the Spanish world through games, crafts, music and more! We will even break open a piñata on the last day at our İFiesta Mexicana! Cooking Led by Kelly Sharpe 12:30pm - 3:30pm 1st - 5th grade LCS kitchen Limit 20 students In this cooking camp your student will try delicious new foods and recipes! Kelly Sharpe will introduce your student to the culinary arts. So, get ready to taste test some delectable new dishes and have fun trying the new recipes at home with your child. Experiments and Exploration, a summer STEAM hands on experience Led by Eric Vanden Bosch June 27-30 Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 11:00am K - 3rd grade 11:30am - 2:30pm 4th - 6th grade Room 210 Limit 16 students Building Through the Ages Led by Rochelle Kueppers June 20-23 Monday - Thursday 12:30pm - 3:30pm 4th - 8th grade Room 212 This summer, join us in learning all the basic building blocks to architecture! We will be learning the differences between varied structures, testing them out, and deciding which kind of structure and material is best for each challenge. By the end of the four days, you will have created the tallest tower, a solid bridge, a geodesic dome and one surprise structure as a team! Please join us as we reach higher in our thinking and apply newfound knowledge and skills! Have you ever wanted to build a bridge, control a robot, harness the wind in your own boat or build really cool things with circuits? Do you like to use your hands and experiment? If so, join us for this hands-on laboratory of learning using Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math to have lots of fun! We will have fun experimenting with boats and wind, circuits to make simple machines, little robots that follow your commands and bridge building. Karate Led by Mr. Faett June 20-23 Monday - Thursday 10:00am - 12:00pm 3 years - 3rd grade LCS small gym This program is based on incremental goal setting and basic coordination through martial arts techniques. Mr. Faett will take the students through basic blocks, kicks and strikes. Students will also learn about and practice respect, discipline and courtesy. At the end of the session, students will have an opportunity to earn their first belt, and showcase for their families the skills they have developed. Mr. Faett is a 6th degree black belt in taekwondo and a master level instructor with the American Taekwondo Association. 3 Summer Camp
Intro to Filmmaking Led by LCS Video Guy Scott Magie June 13-24 Monday - Friday for 2 weeks 9:00am - 12:00pm 9th - 12th grade Black-Tie Premiere on Friday, June 24 at 7:00pm $200 per student Media center Limit 12 people Learn the basics of making a film the way the professionals do it! Write it, light it, shoot it and cut it... all during this fun-but-intense two-week filmmaking crash course. Taught by the LCS "Video Guy" (awardwinning filmmaker, Scott Magie), this camp is for any interested high school student, but especially those considering careers in media, technology, writing, theatre, journalism, marketing, photography, acting or film/tv production. Painting Two by Two Led by Rochelle Kueppers June 17 Friday $45 per person June 24 Friday $45 per person 6:00pm - 8:00pm Limit 12 people any age Hey parents, you re invited! Join Mrs. Kueppers for a single evening in creating a memorable masterpiece with your child or other special person. Two separate events are being offered which will supply you with two unique opportunities to learn how to paint like the masters while adding your own flair and masterpiece to your home! You may choose to only attend one evening or sign up for both! Our first Friday evening will be an impressionist style painting inspired by a famous artist! You may choose to come two by two and simultaneously create the same inspired image or come individually and leave with a great masterpiece for your home! You will learn the fast style painting of an impressionist and the technique/meaning of capturing light in an image. We will end the evening with a short reflection on our inner light and how to let it shine. The camp includes a field trip to Advanced Multimedia, a film equipment rental facility in Lansing, and will conclude with a Black-Tie Screening and Awards Ceremony to present student-created work for parents and friends. Class capacity is 12 students. After the class capacity is met the registration for this class will close. Our second night will be a contemporary styled, multi-canvas painting! You and your loved one will be shown multiple styles of applying paint to the canvas, find your own style, and create a beautiful memory and meaningful piece. When we are finished, you will be able to arrange your varied sized canvases in any pattern you wish. The final image and message for the evening will be wrapped up with a Bible verse reflection. 4 - Summer Camp
Tennis Camp Led by Dick Winters June 13-24 Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 5:30pm 4th - 12th grade $60 per student or $100 per family Kiwanis Park Tennis Courts 1700 Maple St, Holt This summer program will focus on solid tennis fundamentals including stroke mechanics, ball control, court movement, game strategy, etiquette, rules, sportsmanship and competitive play. Become an Engineering Legend--Tall Tales STEM Challenges Led by Stephanie Buchalski and Jill Shackelford June 27-30 Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 11:00am 4th - 6th grade Room 212 and computer lab Limit 12 students Do you like to use things from around your house or your backyard to build structures? In this camp, we will be using engineering principles to build structures modeled after our favorite tall tales. We will be using household and nature items to build things like Pecos Bill s lasso (using plastic bags!) and John Henry s train (using toilet paper tubes!). Join us for lots of fun activities. As an added bonus, we will be working on programming and coding in the computer lab. We re looking forward to building with you this summer! Meet with Coach Winters at the Kiwanis Park Tennis Courts on Monday-Friday, from 3:30pm to 5:30pm (10 sessions, weather permitting), starting on June 13- June 24. A registration fee of $60 per student or $100 per family, is charged for the Tennis Camp, to help fund each school s tennis programs. Make checks payable to Lansing Christian School or to Leslie Public Schools. You can register at your school -- and Coach will accept walk-on registrations with permission. Participants should bring their racquets, wear suitable tennis shoes and comfortable clothing, and bring water and sun protection. Coach will provide balls, hoppers and instruction. 5 Summer Camp
Volleyball Led by Dale Wethy 5:30pm - 7:30pm 4th - 8th grade girls $65 per student LCS small/main gym Bike Camp Led by Garrett Anderson July 11-14 Monday - Thursday 11:30am - 4:30pm 7th - 9th grade coed Meet at Lansing Christian School LCS girls volleyball coach, Dale Wethy, will lead a hands-on volleyball training camp with the assistance of high school volleyball athletes. Students will be separated in three skill/grade level groups and will be taught an overview of positions, volleyball terminology, drills and fundamental skills breakdown. Students will have a chance to put their new skills to the test as they participate in scrimmages every day. Campers should be ready to learn and ready to do work! Come enjoy a week of exploring Lansing on the seat of your favorite velocipede. Bike camp is a mixture of long bike rides, bicycle safety training, playing at parks and visiting various points of interest along the newly renovated and extended Lansing River Trail with Mr. Anderson. Be sure to bring lots of water, a helmet and some spare change in case we stop for a snack along the way. Basketball Camp Led by Jason Salsbury June 27-30 Monday Thursday 12:00pm 2:00pm Kindergarten - 3 rd grade coed 2:30pm 5:00pm 4th 6th grade coed 2:30pm 5:00pm 7th 8th grade coed $65 per student LCS main gym Learn basic fundamental skills taught by LCS girls varsity basketball coach Jason Salsbury. The high school varsity basketball players will assist Coach Salsbury in teaching your child shooting, passing, ball-handling, defense, rebounding and conditioning/agility training. Advanced skills will be taught as age/skill level dictates. Participate in scrimmages against others in your age group/gender and have the opportunity to win various prizes through games and contests. Awards will be handed out at the end of each day and at the conclusion of camp.
