August September 2007 News about winners, scratch-off prizes, new games and more! COMING SOON! Daily 4 On-line Game with Sum It Up Add-On Feature! Starting in September, Texas Lottery players will have yet another on-line game option to choose from; it s called Daily 4 and it features twice-daily drawings, six days a week! An add-on feature of Daily 4, called Sum It Up, will offer players even more opportunities to win. Sales for Daily 4 and Sum It Up are slated to begin on September 30, with the first drawings to be held at 12:27 p.m. and 10:12 p.m. on October 1. Daily 4 should especially appeal to Pick 3 players, a game that has grown steadily in popularity and sales since its introduction in 1993. The biggest difference between the games, aside from the extra number, is that Daily 4 offers even larger potential prize amounts and more exciting ways to play and win! Similar in many ways to the current Pick 3 game, Daily 4 will offer a 50-cent minimum play, twelve drawings a week (six day and six night drawings) and a multi-draw ticket-purchase option. Daily 4 will be played just like Pick 3, except that players will select four numbers between (cont. on page 4) Over 33 Million Winners in April/May 2007! 33 MILLION WINNERS!
When Dennis Damian Anugwom s mother Grace told him to rest after working early into Sunday morning on Mother s Day, he did what a good son does he obeyed her. Anugwom, of Houston, got some rest and then headed to his mother s house to join his brothers. On the way, he stopped at the Shop N Go Food Store located at 6601 S. Gessner Drive in Houston and bought three,000 Cash Blast scratch-offs. When I got the third ticket, Anugwom said, I put it in my pocket and left the store. Anugwom scratched the $20 ticket in his car, and could barely believe it when he uncovered a $1 million prize. I couldn t breathe and I couldn t smile even though I wanted to, so I called my mother. When she answered, I couldn t speak to her, and then I started crying, which scared her. Grace Anugwom gave the phone to Dennis s oldest brother, Innocent, who was able to extract the story, and then burst into laughter as Dennis continued crying. Your son is a millionaire, Innocent told his mother. Anugwom will take his mother to visit his 9-year-old son in Jamaica as soon as possible. Later this summer, they plan to go to Nigeria to see Anugwom s father, whom he hasn t seen in 14 years.
The Texas Lottery conducted a Mega Millions promotion from March 25 through April 14, during which players who spent $10 or more on one Mega Millions ticket received two Mega Millions Quick Picks free. The biggest winner during the promotion was Eduardo Oviedo of San Antonio, who won $250,000 on one of the two promotional Mega Millions tickets he received after buying $10 worth of Mega Millions tickets at the West Avenue Express, 3202 West Avenue in San Antonio. One of Oviedo s free Quick Picks matched fi veout-of-six numbers in the March 30 Mega Millions drawing! I got a big birthday present from the lottery with those tickets, said Oviedo said, who turned 62 the day he received the two free Quick Picks. Even though the prize was on the free ticket, I still say you won t win unless you buy a ticket. This prize will make me debt-free, Oviedo said. I m also going to pay off my mortgage and buy my wife the new house we ve been talking about for some time. Oviedo also said he also plans to help care for an ailing family member, and to tithe to his church. Calvin McFadden of Sherman has been playing Cash Five for the last four years with great success, which he attributes to a system he s worked out. The March 31 top prize of $32,769 is the second he s won using his plan. Ever since I retired four years ago, I ve been researching the numbers that are drawn in Cash Five, he said. I ve studied the frequency of the numbers that come up, and with that, I ve been able to choose numbers that have been proven winners for me. McFadden says he was attracted to Cash Five because it has the best odds of all the on-line games. For him, the combination of the odds and researching the numbers has really paid off. With the odds of one in 435,897 for winning the top prize and even better odds of 1 in 88 for winning $3, it s rare that I don t win something, even if it s only two dollars, he said. The last time McFadden won the top prize was in September 2005. He said he s matched four-out-of-fi ve numbers on 23 tickets since he started using his system. McFadden purchased the tickets at Driggs Discount Liquor #3, located at 3000 South Woodlawn in Denison.
Daily 4 with Sum It Up (cont. from cover) 0 and 9. They also get to choose their play type and wager amount. There are 10,000 possible combinations ranging from 0000 to 9999. Another exciting aspect of Daily 4 is Sum It Up, which allows players the chance to win a prize even if they don t win the Daily 4 game. For an additional wager (50 cents to $5), players can win if the sum of their numbers is the same as the sum of the winning numbers drawn in the applicable drawing. For example, if the player s numbers are 1-3-5-7 (sum = 16) and the numbers drawn are 3-4-6-3 (sum = 16), the player wins if they purchased the Sum It Up feature, even though their numbers did not match those drawn. Along with Daily 4, Sum It Up will make its debut in September and, later this year in November, it will be available as an add-on feature to Pick 3 as well. Daily 4, with or without the Sum It Up add-on feature, offers a variety of play types. Ask your retailer or check the Texas Lottery s Web site at www.txlottery.org for more information about Daily 4 with Sum It Up, the exciting new game and add-on feature coming soon from the Texas Lottery! To paraphrase an old saying, neither snow nor rain, etc., can dampen the excitement of winning big on a Texas Lottery ticket! Susan Dickerson of Vernon was in her living room when she scratched off a prize on a,000 Mega Bucks ticket. I ran outside in my socks in the rain to where my husband was and started jumping up and down. He told me to sit down and talk about what we need to do, and I said I won $10,000! Dickerson said the very fi rst thing she d do with her winnings was buy her three sons some new shoes. She bought her winning ticket at Grocery Sack located at 4016 Wilbarger in Vernon.
