SALUTING OUR 2016 GRADUATES MADELEINE BROWN High School Activities, Clubs, Honors I skate six days of the week skating three hours a day for five of those days. I also workout with a personal trainer, Rashid Shakirov, three days of the week in addition to my own stretching and conditioning. Skating takes up the majority of my time. Future Plans (college, including major, skating, other) I am attending the University of North Georgia next year as a part-time student, so I can further pursue my skating. Right now, I am planning on majoring in biology with the hopes of becoming a physical therapist in the future. Skating Career Highlights (competitions, testing, etc.) My most memorable competition in skating was making it to the final rounds at the Middle Atlantic Championships as a Novice lady. I will be competing as a Junior lady this year. Extracurricular Activities I help Mr. Herbert on Saturdays with the Learn to Skate program, and I have volunteered at a physical therapy practice that specializes in helping special needs children. DREW BRYANT High School Activities, Clubs, Honors I will be graduating from Pinecrest Academy High School as Valedictorian of my class. I am a National Merit Scholarship finalist as well as an AP Scholar with Distinction, and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta math society, and the Spanish National Honor Society. One of my most memorable experiences has been serving as a Youth Core Leader for fellow teens as they embarked on their faith journey in the Confirmation process as well as co-founding a Big Sister/Little Sister Mentor & Tutoring Program at my school for incoming middle school students. Future Plans (college, including major, skating, etc.) I am deciding whether to attend Emory University, Boston College, or the University of Georgia in the fall. I plan to major in History with a minor in Spanish. My current interests lie in the field of criminal law, so upon college graduation I plan to attend law school. Skating Career Highlights (competitions, Testing, etc.) I am proud to have been a member of the Atlanta FSC since 2008! I have thoroughly enjoyed after-school skating lessons with my coach Tami Mickle. I hope to pass a few more tests before I leave but I intend to continue to skate and test whenever I can. I am also excited to learn more about figure skating as I continue to go through the trial judge process with U.S. Figure Skating. Extracurricular Activities I focus any extra time I have on quality time with my friends and family, as well as time for some hobbies like playing the piano and painting. I also enjoy volunteering for my school mentoring program alongside my peer group as well as my involvement with my local Animal Humane Society and varied ministries at my Catholic church. 2 April 2016

HELENA FISHER High School Activities, Clubs, Honors I am graduating from the Galloway School where I have attended for all of high school. I have been a member of the Dance Ensemble, Dance Club, and Photography Club. I am a Scholar Athlete in Dance, and I am the Student Head of Prom Committee this year. Future Plans (college, including major, skating, other) I will be attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio studying psychology with the goal of becoming either a sports psychologist, therapist or guidance counselor. Skating will definitely be a part of my future as I hope to be a part of Miami University s Collegiate Skating Team to compete both freestyle and dance; however, I will also be looking into synchronized skating since their program is great at Miami. I can t imagine not skating anymore as it is such an important part of my life, but I am also very excited to be starting a new chapter at college! medalists at National Showcase. Skating Career Highlights (competitions, testing, etc.) I have passed Senior Moves, Gold Dance Test, and am working towards passing Senior Free Skate soon to become a Triple Gold Medalist. Another highlight has been the Solo Dance Series where I have qualified for the Solo Dance Championships for the last 4 years. In 2015, I advanced to the Championship Round for Gold Pattern Dance and finished in 5 th. In 2011, my partner and I were the Teen Duet Bronze Extracurricular Activities Besides photography and dance, one of my passions is participating in the U.S. Figure Skating Trial Judging Program. I am currently a Provisional Judge in Singles & Pairs and hope to get my Bronze Test appointment for Singles/Pairs and Dance prior to leaving for college. My goal is to be like John Millier and become a National and International level judge. MACKENZIE KISELLA High School Activities, Clubs, Honors I have been a member of the Beta Club for junior and senior years at Etowah High School, and I participated in Etowah s Shop with an Eagle (holiday shopping with underprivileged children and the Talent Show. Extracurricular Activities Skating of course! I am assisting with the Learn to Skate Program at Town Center. I took cake decorating classes and use what I learned in class to make cakes and cupcakes for friends and family get-togethers. Future Plans (college, including major, skating, other) I will be attending the University of Georgia and majoring in Genetics/Pre-Med with the hopes of becoming a Pediatrician. I plan skating for fun when I have free time and when I come back home to visit. Skating Career Highlights (competitions, testing, etc.) I have passed my Preliminary Moves in the Field and Pre- Preliminary Free Skate Tests. I hope to pass my upcoming Pre-Juvenile Moves in the Field Test this spring. One of my favorite skating memories was my showcase to I m Proud to Be an American by Lee Greenwood. SPOTLIGHT SKATER Julia Kornetzke What are your favorite and least favorite elements? My favorite element is the double loop because it is my biggest jump, and I love the feeling when I do it well. My least favorite element is the double toe loop because I find it difficult to get the timing right. Favorite program/music? My current program is my all-time favorite because the music is La Vie en Rose, which reminds me of France. Whom do you admire most? I admire two of AFSC s very own, Fran and Jessica Gregory, who have been obedient to the call God put on their hearts to be His hands and feet as missionaries in Germany. They have walked by faith over the past 2 years as they have prepared for, and have just embarked upon a 3-year journey to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of the lost and hurting in Cologne, Germany. Most memorable event of your skating career? Landing my first double flip was certainly a memorable event for me. Who is your favorite skater? What are your future skating and educational goals? I am working toward passing all of the MITF tests by the time I graduate high school. I definitely will attend college, and it would be great if a skating rink happens to be nearby. Regarding a career, that s the million- dollar question. When I figure that out, I ll let you know. My favorite things are Snow days, smoothies, and beach vacations Tell us something about yourself or your family that no one knows. I ve never had any pets because my mom doesn t like animals. I am a junior at Milton High School where my favorite subjects are French and Chemistry. I am co-president of the National French Honor Society and have been inducted into the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. I was chosen to be part of a freshman mentor program at MHS where I mentor a group of freshman each week to help with their transition from middle school to high school. In addition, I tutor students in French, math and science. What famous person would you most like to meet? Bethany Hamilton, because she triumphed over the tragedy of losing her left arm in a shark attack to become a professional surfer as well as an inspirational public figure. Who would you choose to play you in the movie of your life? Sadie Robertson (of Duck Dynasty fame) If I weren t a skater, I would have been a swimmer Best advice ever received Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
