Manila is the capital city and located on the shores of Manila Bay and is known as Pearl of the Orient. Manila, the capital of the Philippines, is a densely populated bayside city on the island of Luzon, which mixes Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. Intramuros, a walled city in colonial times, is the heart of Old Manila. It s home to the baroque 16th-century San Agustin Church as well as Fort Santiago, a storied citadel and former military prison. Located on Manila Bay in the South China Sea and the Pasig River, the capital city is both historic and modern. A popular sight is the Intramuros, a walled area that was the capital during Spanish rule. Intramuros has retained old dungeons and gunpowder rooms but added art galleries and theatres. The city is filled with museums, shops, parks and churches, plus enough nightlife to last until dawn. Manila is a cultural hot-spot that offers a unique experience to both local and visiting families. Rest of the day at leisure on own. You can visit Ocean Park In Philippines, marine life is best explored by snorkeling or diving. But if you don t have time to check out the beaches, Manila Ocean Park is an alternative, especially for kids. At this amusement park, you can interact with penguins, enjoy memorable encounters with sharks and rays, and even let your daughter try out her mermaid fantasy by swimming while wearing a fish tail. After a long tiring day, relax your feet by trying the "Fish Spa" where tiny, friendly fish nibble the dead skin cells off your feet! Manila Ocean Park's Hotel H2O has some underwater-themed Aqua Rooms with aquarium walls that could complete your "under the sea" experience. Or you can visit Star City an amusement park which gives an adrenaline rush, scream your heart out in the rides and attractions, Star City is located next to the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, so you also the have option to catch a play at CCP or see an indie film after your visit. Outside food and drinks are not allowed, but snacks are sold at stalls inside the park. Some fast food joints also surround the park vicinity. See the Mind Museum - it allows the whole family to learn while having fun. The first world-class science museum in the Philippines houses around 250 interactive exhibits to feed both your curious mind and your senses. It's a great place to start introducing or explaining complicated concepts to kids, from atoms and frequencies to Earth and astronomy. And should you run out of possible explanations, the museum's 'Mind Movers' (staff) are happy to assist you. If learning and playing makes you hungry, you'll find restaurants opposite the building. On Fridays and Saturdays, head to the nearby Midnight Mercato, which opens at 6 pm. If you want to spend a day outdoors head over to the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati s Central Business District. Here you'll find space to run, cycle, or play frisbee with family and friends. Roll out the picnic mat and relax with some food and drinks, or for a more formal meal, head to one of the fine dining restaurants in the area. Free events and exhibits are also held in the area from time to time. On Saturdays, walk to the Salcedo Weekend Market for lunch. (It's also near the Ayala malls and luxury hotels like The Peninsula Manila and Makati Shangri La.). If you plan to watch the Light & Sound show over here from late November through December, make a reservation in advance as securing seats can be difficult. Evening try the vibrant nightlife here - You can sample the city s bustling nightlife at the upscale Glorietta center in Makati, along bohemian Malate, at Eastwood, Libis, and the resto block on the SM Mall of Asia, a short ride from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The dress code is usually relaxed, and you ll find the bars and restos packed even on weeknights, as night-shift call center employees tend to gravitate to these areas to wind down or prep up for work. Day 02 Manila After breakfast, proceed for a half day city tour of Manila. The tour starts with a drive through Roxas Boulevard to Rizal Park, named in honour of the country s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. After a brief photo stop, proceed to the walled City of Intramuros to visit the remnants of Spain s conquistadores. Travel through the cobbled streets to San Augustin Church, the country s oldest stone church and view its wide collection of icons and religious articles. Across it is, Casa Manila, a reproduction of a 19 th century house equipped with oriental and European décor as well as antique furniture. Then proceed to Fort Santiago, Manila s main line of defense against invaders from the sea. It is a stone fort guarding the entrance to the city from Manila Bay. It has been the sight of many tragic moments in history. From Fort Santiago, drive on to Manila s central district, Quiapo, often referred to as the heart of Manila with its market, pilgrimage church of the Black Nazarene, jeepney terminals and bazaars. Then proceed to the Chinese Cemetery, the only one of its kind in the world, where the mausoleums are as big and elaborate as houses and where the fusion of Eastern and Chinese religions are very much in evidence. End the tour with a short sightseeing of the bustling financial and commercial district of Makati City. In the afternoon proceed to Asia s second largest mall Mall of Asia or Greenhills Shopping Centre, a mecca for those in search of electronics, mobile phones, latest clothes and jewellery trends at the most affordable prices. SM Mall of Asia, also known as MOA, offers an array of activities for the whole family. In addition to myriad shops, the largest mall in Asia features an ice skating rink, bowling alley, science center, and more. The MOA Arena is right next door, which hosts concerts and sports events. The SMX Convention Center, where special fairs are held, is also nearby. This is a great place to catch a 3D movie is at the IMAX theater here. There are free electric vehicles inside and outside the mall to help senior citizens and disabled guests get around. The mall offers a free shuttle service to and from most of the hotels in Manila. Day 03 Manila Cebu After breakfast, transfer from your hotel to domestic airport for your domestic flight to Cebu on Cebu Air Pacific (approx 1 hr 20 min). Arrive at Cebu and transfer to your beach front resort and check in. Cebu is a beautiful city with countless beaches and nature parks. It offers everything you need from a relaxing retreat in a tropical island to all the conveniences that a first-class metropolis can give. In contrast to the bustling metropolis, the rest of Cebu s 167 islets and islands are lined with idyllic white sandy beaches and pristine clear waters. Located in between two straits, and several surrounding islands, Cebu is about 225 kilometers long, a narrow island that is home to 2.4 million people. If you want to frolic in the beach, you should go there during summer which is from March to May. But, if you want to see what Cebu has in store for all its visitors, go there in January, specifically on the 3rd week as this is the time they celebrate one of the country s biggest festivities, the Sinulog. But you need to book early as hotels are bound to be booked even a week or two before the festival. The rainy season begins in July bringing torrential downpours that would sometimes inhibit movement, typhoon activity is minor compared with other parts of the Philippines. Since Cebu has always been a popular
tourist destination, it is equipped with hotels and resorts for every budget. If you are on a budget, you may prefer to stay at cheaper hotels. Don t worry, Cebu has a lot of them and they are quite clean and nice too. Cebu has lots of places to go to enjoy your night from downtown to uptown, Metropolitan Cebu comes even more alive as dusk sets in, with queues leading to music bars, discos and the casinos. You can go island hopping - Island Hopping- You can rent a pumpboat and this will take you to 3 beautiful islands around Cebu. It is a whole day activity so you may want to bring in some lunch and snacks. Enjoy Mountain View - You can go there day or night- it does not matter as they are open 24/7. It is full of tall trees and flowers, plus hangout areas and playgrounds for kids. You also get a great view of the city at the top.
