After winning three ATP World Tour singles titles in 2016, the third-seeded Kyrgios went 0-2 in finals last year, but will attempt to reverse that streak in the very first week of 2018. Kyrgios made the final in his first main draw appearance in Brisbane after a three-set comeback victory over No. 1 seed Grigor Dimitrov, which was his first win over the World No. 3 in three tries. Harrison, meanwhile, is in his third ATP World Tour singles final after a breakthrough 2017 where he won his first singles title in Memphis, partnered Michael Venus to win the French Open men s doubles title, and advanced to his second singles final in Atlanta (l. Isner 76 76). Harrison survived a tight semi-final against 18-year-old Australian wild card Alex de Minaur, where the American was two points away from defeat during the second-set tiebreak before outlasting de Minaur 46 76(5) 64 in 2 hours and 37 minutes, the second-longest match of the event. In the opening final of the day, Henri Kontinen of Finland and Australia s John Peers, the No. 3 and No. 4 ranked doubles players in the world, will aim to win their second consecutive title after finishing 2017 victorious at the Nitto ATP Finals in London. The top-seeded team will play unseeded Argentines Leonardo Mayer and Horacio Zeballos, who have reached their first final as a team in their first event together since Wimbledon in 2010.
