Volume #7 Issue #9 Spetember 2016 From the Canteen, From the Canteen Manager Well, welcome to September. I just can't believe it is here already! Days are getting shorter and a little bit of fall is felt in the air. On the bright side it's time for FOOTBALL SEASON!! If you haven't been in to the Post in the last 2 weeks, we have a new sound system throughout the canteen. This will help in distributing the sound through the building for game days as well as the juke box and the karaoke on the weekends. This is new, as I said, so please bear with us as we learn the controls of this new system. Another new note, In the past few weeks we have brought on a new bartender. Her name is Nickie, she will be filling in on shifts for our events as well as covering shifts for our present volunteers. She is not new to bartending however it will take her time to learn our way of doing things. Please welcome her and again I ask for patience as she learns our POS system. She will be asking for member cards so make sure you have a current one with you. Don't forget with football season here, Mondays are Happy Hour all day and at 4pm we start our burger and a draft domestic special for $6.00. Also on Thursdays that we don't have a General Meeting or a Auxiliary meeting we will be showing the game and offering a chili dog and chips for a great price. So please come in and share in some game day fun. We are trying something new on our Wednesday taco nights starting this month. We will no longer have a potato night every other week, it will be replaced with fajitas. Your choice of chicken or beef. They will be offered on the weeks that we don't have enchiladas. Don't worry we will still be having Tina's famous chili those day/nights as well, just no potato. In This Issue From the Canteen 2016-2017 Officers 2016-2017 Auxiliary Officers Event Flyers Adjutant s Report September Calendar AT&T Flyer Canteen Menus The Back Page Ok...finally onto the upcoming events. There are a few things happening this month. Beginning on Sunday the 4th we will be having our Annual Luau starting at 2pm, serving pulled pork with all of the fixins, for $10.00 a plate. Wear your best Hawaiian shirt for a prize and our " Fabulous Benny" will be here from 5-10pm. This is always a great party don't miss out! Next our Air Force will be celebrating their 69th Birthday on Saturday the 17th. Dinner will be London Broil served 5-7, with ceremonies directly following. Now our next event is brand new to our Post. Its a Members only Car Show on Saturday the 24th starting at noon. Its $10.00 to enter your car, we have 8 categories with trophies and a special little gift for everyone that enters their car. Beings that this is a 1st we are limiting the entries to Members only including Amvets and Auxiliary, as our parking is already limited. We will be having live music outside from 2-6 pm. I'm looking forward to this one and hope you all will come and participate in the judging. In closing, I want to thank everyone that makes this Post such a wonderful place. I know I say this a lot but it needs to be said. Without our Volunteers and our wonderful Members we wouldn't be the successful Organization that we are. People that care is what it takes. So give yourselves a BIG THANK YOU. May God Bless YOU. Stay healthy and I hope to see you all soon. Nancy from our VFW Auxiliary would like to be informed when we have Vets at Peacehealth hospital so she can check in on them while at work. She can be reached at 360-600-0080 Thank you Nancy!
