Presentation of the competition After two successful meetings, the Neptune Club de France is organizing their third European Swim Meet on Saturday, June 5 & Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the swimming pool Georges Vallerey (Paris). The European Swim Meet is an official swimming competition well-known in Europe. It is also a great place for people in Europe to come together around the same passion: swimming. Certified by the French Swimming Federation, the European Meeting is organized in partnership with the Regional Committee of Swimming (CIF), the Departmental Committee of Paris (CD75), the City of Paris and the Ile de France Region. The competition is organized by the Neptune Club de France, created in 1906. Affiliated with the French Swimming Federation, it is an important player for the practice of swimming in France. The Swim Meet includes two days of competition and is open to all swimmers affiliated with a European federation recognized by the European Swimming League (LEN). Organized in a 50-meter pool, as series/finals, with electronic timing and with breaks for warm up and recovery, it allows swimmers to compete in the best conditions. Location The European Swim Meet is organized at the Georges Vallerey swimming pool in Paris. The swimming pool was built for the Olympic Games in 1924 and was completely renovated in 1989. It is equipped with a 50m x 21m pool and regularly hosts major swimming competitions: FINA Swimming World Cup, National Championships, Regional Championships and numerous meetings. The French Swimming Federation rules will apply. The competition will be held at the Georges Vallerey swimming pool, in the 50 meter-pool (50m, 8 corridors) with electronic timing. For the 50 and 100 meter events, the qualifying heat will take place in the morning and finals by age category in the afternoon. The 200 meter Individual Medley will also have a qualifying heat and finals by age category, but these events will take place Sunday afternoon. The remaining 200 meter events will have a direct classification by age category. The 400 meter freestyle, the 400 meters Individual Medley and the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay will have a direct all categories ranking. The competition is certified by the French Federation of Swimming, all performances will be validated. Age Categories The table below shows the age categories for participation in the Meeting. Avenirs/ Poussins Born in 1999, 2000 and after Benjamins Born in 1997 and 1998 Minimes Born in 1995 and 1996 Cadets Born in 1993 and 1994 Juniors Born in 1990, 1991 and 1992 Seniors Born in 1989 and before Awards Medals will be awarded either to the first three ranks in each final or direct ranking, depending on the race. To receive medals, all swimmers shall be required to present themselves on the podium, which will be next to the computer room.
