SOUTH AFRICAN SHOW JUMPING (SASJ) ANNEXURES following on from FEI Rules 2015 ANNEXURES 2015 FEI JUMPING RULES with the following Annexures to be applicable to Events run in South African under the auspices of SASJ. PREAMBLE These Showjumping Annexures (hereinafter SJRs) are effective on 1 January 2015. The Rules are presented in the following groupings: (i) FEI Current Rules (ii) Annexure A - South African Local Rules (iii)? FEI Veterinary Regulations? SAEF General Regulations (iv) Every eventuality cannot be provided for in these SJRs. In any unforeseen or exceptional circumstances, it is the duty of the appropriate person or body to make a decision in a sporting spirit, by approaching as near as possible the intention of the SJRs. Should there remain any omissions in the SJRs, such omission shall be interpreted in a manner compatible to the fullest extent with the other provisions of these SJRs, other of the rules and regulations of the FEI, and in a sporting spirit.

ANNEXURE A A REGISTRATION OF ATHLETES, OFFICIALS, OWNERS, SPONSORS AND HORSES & PONIES 1 All athletes, officials, owners and sponsors must be registered with SASJ, and shall be re-registered on 1 January each year. 2 All competing horses must be registered with SASJ, and shall be re-registered on 1 January each year. 3 A owner may change the horse/pony classification online. To downgrade to a recreational horse/pony is free and should be done when yearly subscriptions are due. Registered Ponies need to have valid height certificates uploaded onto their profiles. These certificates need to be approved by SASJ before they will be eligible to enter Pony Rider classes. 4 A Pony may only change classification once in a calendar year after Registration. 4 The first name of a horse entered in its Horse Passport shall be the name under which it was originally registered, and this name shall remain permanently in the passport and under the birth name on the SASJ database. 5 In order to enable names to be recorded on computers and electronic scoreboards, they must be kept as short as possible. Should any name exceed 25 characters (including spaces, punctuation, sponsors and/or stud names) the OC is authorised to abbreviate such name for purposes of printing it in its programmes, starting lists or any other document or equipment. 6 All Horse Passports shall be issued and administered by the SAEF without any alterations and any entry in a Horse Passports may only be amended by the SAEF or by a Registered Veterinarian who must endorse such amendments. 8 The following information is required on registration of a Horse: Horse Passport Number Name of Horse Owner of Horse Sex of Horse Breed of Horse Country of birth Year of birth of Horse Horse s Original name (Birth Name) Sire, Dam and Sire of Dam Copy of the completed identification page of the Horse s Passport Name of Previous owner Microchip No (Advisable) Height Certificate (If a Pony)
9 SASJ Subscription Categories Pony Riders (0-16) Juniors (12 18) Seniors/Adults (18 Retirement) 9.1 PONY RIDERS 1 FEI ANNEX XI Article 4 Definition of a Pony Competitor 1. An Athlete may compete as a Pony Rider from the beginning of the calendar year in which he reaches the age of 12 until the end of the year in which he reaches 16. 2. For competitions held in South Africa under SASJ Pony Riders will be classes for age 0 till the end of the year in which he/she reaches 16. 9.2 JUNIORS 1 FEI ANNEX IX Article 3.2 A person may compete as a Junior from the beginning of the Calendar year in which he reaches the age of 12 until the end of the year in which he reaches the age of 18. 9.3 SENIOR /ADULTS 1 An Athlete is registered as a Senior/Adult Rider from the beginning of the Calendar year in which he/she reaches the age of 18 till they retire. 9.4 SPECIAL COMPETITION CATEGORIES Special Competitions and National Titles (not including Team Championships) may be offered by SASJ and Organising Committee s to include the following which are part of the FEI Regulations: 9.4.1 CHILDREN FEI Annex XII Article 3 Definition of Children 1-A child may compete in the Children s category from the beginning of the calendar year in which he reaches the age of 12 until the end of the calendar year in which he reaches the age of 14. 2 - At Children s Events, Athletes may compete only on Horses. It is not allowed to compete on ponies. 9.4.2 YOUNG RIDERS FEI Annex IX Article 3 Definition of a Young Rider 1. A person may compete as a Young Rider from the beginning of the calendar year in which he/she reaches the age of 16 until the end of the calendar year in which he reaches the age of 21. 2. No Young Rider or Junior, up to the age of 18 may be classified as a professional
9.4.3 VETERANS FEI Annex X Article 2- Definition of a Veteran Athlete The following persons may compete as Veteran Athletes: 1. Ladies from the year in which the reach their 45 th birthday and gentlemen from the year in which they reach their 49 th birthday. If approved the licence then gets approved by the SASJ National Committee and lodged at the SASJ National Office. 9.7 A Horse or Pony may only compete in one category of South African Championships Every calendar year.
ANNEXURE B B HEIGHTS OF PONIES FOR SASJ COMPETITIONS 1 FEI ANNEX XI Article 3 DEFINITION OF A PONY 1 A pony is a small equine whose height at the withers, having been measured on a smooth level surface, does not exceed 1.48 without shoes or 1.49 with shoes 2 In any International events and Championships, ponies must be at least six years old. 2 FEI Article 13.3 Pony Measurement The FEI definition of a pony is in accordance with Article 4 of the present Annex. Nevertheless, to allow for the fact that FEI Pony measurement takes place under competition conditions ponies measured at competitions must not exceed 1.50m without shoes or 15.1 with shoes in order to be permitted to compete also to include the below B.2, B.3 3 Ponies with existing Life Height Certificates All ponies registered in 2014 on the SASJ Database who possess a valid life height certificate of 1.50 or below issued prior to 1 st August 2012 will be able to be registered as SASJ ponies until they retire or are deceased. However these ponies may be called upon for re-measurement to ensure that it is still at 1.50m. 4 Ponies Currently on the SASJ Database registered in 2014 All ponies currently registered on the SASJ database, or who have submitted height certificates to SASJ that measure 1.50 without shoes and who are over the age of 7 years old, will also remain classified as ponies until the retire or are deceased. However these ponies may also be called upon for re-measurement to ensure that it is still at 1.50m. 5 Measurement of Ponies As from the 1 st January 2015 all future ponies will be measured by a Senior SASJ FEI Steward together with a recognised veterinarian. Height Certificates need to be in the ponies recognised passport. 6 Ponies being ridden/schooled by Junior or Adult Riders No Pony may be ridden in the competition by any other person Junior/Adult rider, they may only be ridden by a registered Pony Rider.
ANNEXURE C C GRADING AND QUALIFICATION POINTS 1 RESPONSIBILITY FOR GRADING SASJ shall grade all Athletes registered with them in accordance with these rules. 2 QUALIFICATION ON NEW REGISTRATION 1 When an Athlete is first registered, he shall be graded at the lowest grade within his age group. 2 Athletes from foreign National Federations becoming registered in the Republic of South Africa, shall be registered in the grade or equivalent grade, in which they were registered with their last Federation.
