Note from the Director Fall is upon us. What is typically a peaceful time of year will be anything but peaceful at the Lottery. On Oct 28th Mega Millions will undergo enhancements designed to create larger jackpots. The starting jackpot will increase from $15 million to $40 million and the odds of winning the $1 million match 5 prize will get better too, going from 1 in 18.5 million to 1 in 12.6 million. The cost per play will increase to $2 which is the first price adjustment ever for Mega Millions. A new play option is called "Just the Jackpot" offers two quick pick plays for $3 and is eligible for the Jackpot prize only. Please see pages 4 and 5 for more details on all the Mega Millions changes. Cindy Polzin Lottery Director With the Mega Millions changes the Lucky 7 option will be replaced with 10 Buck Luck. 10 Buck Luck includes eight different online games for $10. You can find details on what games are included and an incentive for you to earn some money while introducing this new combo on page 5. There are also some other exciting Short Term Incentives coming up. These provide a great opportunity to score some incentive money for your store. With the Win-Win Incentive you can earn 10% of the prize amount for winning tickets $50 and over from game #655 $10,000 Cash. Tickets that are sold and redeemed September 22 to October 21, 2017 qualify for this incentive. See the article below for more information about this incentive. One of our favorite times of the year is when we are able to offer our Holiday tickets for sale. The $5 Happy Holidays, $10 Holiday Dazzle, and $15 Peng Win Countdown are available on October 16. The $1 Merry Money, $2 Warm Winter Winnings, and $3 Naughty or Nice Crossword are available October 23. Hopefully you signed up for the incentives on these tickets. To maximize your potential you will want to get these holiday tickets out for sale immediately. Please see page 6 for more details. October 2017 3 Woodman's Food Market 2855 Woodman Dr. Altoona, WI (Pictured: Left Darci Geasland, Front End Mgr. Right Nicole Kastner Asst. Front End Mgr.) This month we travel to the western side of the State to the city of Altoona in Eau Claire County. Altoona was originally named "East Eau Claire" in order to separately identify the location of the new railroad terminal when it was constructed in the early 1880's. The name proved to be too confusing with the other terminal in the city of Eau Claire and was later changed. Altoona is the 3rd fastest growing city in Wisconsin according to the most recent census. Altoona and the greater Eau Claire area have an abundance of shopping, manufacturing and entertainment venues as well as three institutions of higher education. Our Retailer of the Month, Woodman's Food Market, continues to grow, and the fast growing city of Altoona was the perfect place for a new store in 2015. Woodman's began as a produce stand in Janesville in 1919 and now has 14 stores in Wisconsin alone. They are employee owned and feature everyday low pricing with over 77,000 grocery items on the shelves. Lots of warehouse space allows them to buy direct. With 240,000 square feet, the Altoona store would cover the turf and most of the seating at Lambeau Field! A big store requires a big Lottery presence too. With 67 facings of scratch tickets between two vending machines and the Service Counter they've got it covered with Lottery. Altoona Woodman's carries all the price points with the $5 tickets and the $20 crossword being the most popular.
