A First in USA Coach Education The PTR Master of Tennis programs are the only tennis coach education that provides external assessment of skills, knowledge and abilities for tennis professionals and coaches. The qualification matches the National Standards for Sports Coaches (NSSC) at the highest level, which is Level 5. These Standards, at different levels, are used by other sports and education bodies in the United States and are recognized and endorsed by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC). The competencies of the program also link to those of the ITF s highest achievement for tennis coaches. The high standards of the program demands high standards of the participants, starting with the requirements for application and acceptance for this qualification. The program is only open to PTR members who hold a PTR Performance Certification rating of Professional and/or a PTR Level 3 Performance qualification. The program can be completed in as few as 14 months, although up to a maximum of years is allowed. The content of the Master of Tennis - Performance program is designed to develop the coaching behaviors, knowledge and skills needed to progress 10-18 year old players with potential. The content of the Master of Tennis - Performance program is designed to develop the coaching behaviors, knowledge and skills needed to progress junior performance players of levels. The program consists of 18 different courses, all of which are blended into a unique mix of online and home study, webinars and video. The 18 courses are organized into seven sequential modules. The courses for one module must be completed and signed off before the next module is available. Courses in the first few modules ensure that the coach has the wide area of background knowledge necessary for high quality coaching of junior players with potential. Subsequent courses and modules concentrate on the progression of the background information into the knowledge, practical skills and behaviors necessary to plan and deliver coaching programs and individual lessons for different performance players, over a period of at least 3 months. These modules thus require the coach to synthesize the knowledge gained and then apply it to the practical coaching environment of individual junior performance players in his or her home club over the period of 1 months. The MOT program format has proved successful in taking a full-time coaching schedule into consideration, and the format of the program for 018-00 will improve on this success. Coaches study at their own pace and in their own time, so they need to allocate time each week to give evidence of their abilities and knowledge on video, in written work, in webinar discussions, and in work on and off the court with their own players. Each coach will be given individual attention and supervision online. Learning materials will be easily accessed through password protected pages on a dedicated InnTier website. Each coach will be assigned a personal access code, so their work can be accessed and stored for easy reference and subsequent submission at any time. Assessment will be ongoing, and each of the 18 courses has competencies that the coach must meet. All 18 courses must be passed successfully for the PTR MOT - Performance qualification to be awarded. Each coach is given a maximum of 3 attempts to complete the work for each of the 18 courses. Those who successfully complete the program will earn the rating of PTR Master of Tennis - Performance. 1
