Welcome! On behalf of the entire Chicago Metro Chapter, we are delighted you have decided to join us. In anticipation of questions you may have, we have provided information for you in a FAQ format. I SUBMITTED MY APPLICATION, NOW WHAT? You should have received (or soon will be) a membership packet from EWGA headquarters. Your packet will include a membership card and a tag for your golf bag to identify you as an EWGA member. WHAT IS THE EXECUTIVE WOMEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION? Since its inception in 1991, the EWGA has served as a portal to golf and touched the lives of tens of thousands of women. EWGA has chapters throughout the United States, along with international chapters in Canada, Bermuda, South Africa, and Italy. They offer a wide range of organized golf activities, learning programs, volunteer, social and networking opportunities for both novice and experienced golfers. Our chapter activities typically include: an annual "Kickoff" event; 9-hole and 18-hole leagues at courses throughout the Chicago area; weekend golf events; "just golf" events; education programs; a Chapter Championship (the qualifying event in the EWGA Championship); a Match Play tournament; social events; charity fundraising events; and volunteer recognition events. Whether you're a new golfer looking for a welcoming environment to learn the game, a former golfer wanting to get back to the game, or an experienced golfer seeking the challenge of our championship golf series, EWGA offers events and activities to meet your needs. HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT CHAPTER ACTIVITIES? The Chicago Metro Chapter communicates to its members in a variety of ways. We update members about events and activities via a monthly newsletter and periodic "eblasts". Be sure to visit the chapter website www.ewgachicago.org for the latest events and other important information. Another great way to learn about Chapter activities and connect with your fellow members is our Chapter Facebook group. Our group is open only to EWGA members. You can find us on Facebook under EWGA Chicago Metro. 1Revised

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR A GOLF EVENT OR LEAGUE? You can sign up for events and leagues by visiting our chapter's website www.ewgachicago.org under the Events or Leagues menu. Registration for golf events will usually open on the first of the month preceding the event date (e.g., June 1 for a July event). To sign up, click the Register Online button on the event information page. You will then pay for the event online. The information page will also have the contact information for the Event Captain in case you have any questions. Be aware that there are deadlines when signing up. There are also limited spaces so sign up early! If the event is full, members can contact the Event Captain to be placed on the waiting list. New events are added throughout the season so check back often. Many golf leagues are held over two sessions during the golf season. Registration for Session 1 leagues typically opens in March or April after our season Kickoff event. Session 2 league registration usually opens on the first of the month preceding the session start date. We offer priority league registration to members that sign up for leagues at our season Kickoff event. League registration is restricted to those with priority access codes during the week after Kickoff. Leagues will open to all members after the priority registration period ends. So be sure to attend the Kickoff event to maximize your chances of getting into the league of your choice. AS A NEW GOLFER, WHICH EVENTS OR LEAGUES ARE BEST SUITED FOR ME? Minimum recommended golfer ability level categorizes all our golf events and leagues. The ability levels are described in the Leagues section of our website www.ewgachicago.org and consist of New Golfer, Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, Skillful, and Advanced. The minimum ability levels are guidelines to help you judge the difficulty of the course(s) being played. You can certainly sign up for a league or event with a higher minimum skill level if you feel comfortable with the course(s) and can keep pace of play. Many of our chapter-wide events are designed for players of all ability levels to participate. 2Revised

WILL I HAVE OPPORTUNITIES TO SUBSTITUTE IN A LEAGUE? Yes! If you don't feel quite ready to join a league or if your schedule doesn't permit you to make a commitment to a league no worries try being a substitute! It is an easy and fun way to get to know other members while playing a variety of courses in the Chicago Metro area. There are several ways to participate in the league substitute program. If you attend our season Kickoff, you can sign up in person to be a substitute. Otherwise, you can email the league site captain (contact information located in the Leagues section of our website www.ewgachicago.org). Registered league players will receive a list of potential substitutes and will contact them should they need someone to fill in. You can also check the Sub or Golf Partner Message Board on our website for additional opportunities to play. Once you have contacted the golfer who needs the substitute, you can decide with them directly concerning the details of the round - cost, location, tee time, etc. MAY I BRING A GUEST TO AN EVENT OR LEAGUE? Yes! We encourage you to bring your friends so that they can have fun playing golf with us and possibly become members themselves. Additionally, we have certain events where male guests are encouraged to join us. Non-members are welcome at all events that include a non-member option. For golf leagues, a non-member may play in a league only once in a season as a guest. Further league participation requires membership in EWGA. WILL YOU PAIR ME WITH MY GUEST? Event and League Captains do their best to satisfy pairing requests; however, at times it may not be possible. It is best to contact the Captain at the time of registration and let her know to whom you would like to be paired. HOW WILL I FIND OUT ABOUT MY TEE TIME? The Event or League Captain will notify you of your tee time by email prior to the event. She will also tell you how early you should arrive at the course, but always plan to check-in at the registration table at least 30 minutes prior to your scheduled tee time. 3Revised

IS THERE A DRESS CODE? EWGA encourages members to respect the traditions of the game and golf etiquette. In keeping with this, members and their guests are expected to wear appropriate golf attire that complies with the standards set by the courses we play. The following are not appropriate on the golf course: jeans, tank tops, halter tops, midriff baring tops, tee shirts, fishnet tops, cutoffs, sweatpants, jogging suits, hot pants, and athletic shorts. WILL SOMEONE TEACH ME HOW TO GOLF? If you are brand new to the game of golf, we encourage you to sign up for our education clinics designed for the beginning golfer. These clinics are taught by certified instructors at some of our local courses. Sign up early because space is limited, and we have booked the time with the instructors. We also encourage you to practice what you have learned. We offer golf events designed for new golfers, including Just Golf, the Par Three Championship, and the Fall Finale. At these events, you will play with a more experienced member in your foursome. She can help you with the etiquette and rules of golf and teach you skills to keep the pace of play. DO I HAVE TO HAVE A HANDICAP TO PLAY IN GOLF EVENTS OR LEAGUES? For most golf leagues and events, you do not need a handicap index to participate. Certain competitive events such as the Chapter Championship and Match Play Tournament do require a handicap. SHOULD I ESTABLISH A HANDICAP? While a handicap is not required, it is to your benefit to establish one! A handicap allows golfers of different abilities to compete against each other. It is a measure of your potential as a golfer, not your average score. Handicaps adjust for differences in the difficulty of the courses you play, as well as for playing from different sets of tees. Establishing a handicap is a great way to monitor your improvement. After each round of golf, you post your score and eventually see the trend of your golf game revealed by the handicap. As you improve, your handicap number goes down. You need five rounds to get started and after 20 rounds, the 10 lowest scores are used. As a member of the Chicago Metro Chapter, you have two handicap options. EWGA Headquarters offers a USGA-sanctioned handicap with your membership. This 4Revised

handicap system, GN21, is internet-based on www.ewga.com. Alternatively, we also offer a traditional handicap through the Chicago District Golf Association (CDGA) at an initial cost of $30 ($25 per year thereafter). Under this system, you post rounds on the golf course computer or at www.cdga.com Under USGA rules, the maximum recognized handicap is 40.1. However, the Chicago Metro Chapter can offer local handicaps (recognized within our chapter only) which go up as high as 56. Anyone can have a USGA handicap index! If you are an Advanced Beginner golfer, consider signing up and tracking your improvement by keeping a local handicap. CAN I VOLUNTEER TO HELP? Yes! We are an organization that is 100% reliant on our volunteers and we are always looking for enthusiastic women to help as needed, manage chapter activities, and even serve on the Board. Even if you can only help for one day or a couple of hours, there are many opportunities to get involved. A volunteer form is included in this packet that describes chapter functions and areas of responsibility. We encourage you to get involved to meet other people, have some fun, and make a difference! CAN I BE A SPONSOR FOR THE CHICAGO METRO CHAPTER? Yes. Included in the packet is a summary listing of the various sponsorship levels and the opportunities provided by each. Please contact our Marketing Director marketing@ewgachicago.com for more details. WHAT IS THE BEST WAY FOR MY FRIENDS/COLLEAGUES TO JOIN EWGA? Your friends may join online by visiting the secure Join Us area of the EWGA website www.ewga.com They can also download and print an application and fax or mail it with their payment to the Association Headquarters. Contact our Member Recruitment Director membershipinfo@ewgachicago.com for more information. 5Revised
