Beach re nourishment is still an option but is quite expensive. Fraser Ross Forest and Bird Fraser Ross expressed concern at the inflow of sediment and nutrients to the Washdyke Lagoon. The meeting was advised that a monitoring programme was put in place 9 months ago, particularly for stormwater contaminants monitoring inflows and outflows to the lagoon. However, the monitoring does not include tributaries further up the valley. Mr Ross asked if the Committee is considering activities that contribute to sediments and nutrients in the lagoon and the Chairman advised that the Committee is considering factors that contribute to this and they will be taken into consideration in the formulation of the Zone Implementation Programme Addendum. 20 November 2017 Orari-Temuka-Opihi-Pareora Zone #1116601 2 Management Committee
3 CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES Proposed Clr David Anderson Seconded Hamish McFarlane That the minutes of the Orari-Temuka-Opihi-Pareora Zone Water Management Committee meeting held on 21 August 2017 be confirmed as a true and correct record. MOTION CARRIED 4 FACILITATOR UPDATE The Facilitator provided a brief update, noting that while it is six weeks since the last formal meeting, the Committee has been doing a significant amount of work in a number of workshops to progress the subregional plan. 5 SOLUTIONS PACKAGE TIMELINE The Chairman advised that during the course of the preparation work for the subregional plan, it became apparent that the timeline to prepare the solutions package is not realistic. It is the intention of the Committee to seek an extension of time. Rather than the draft Zone Implementation Programme Addendum (ZIPA) being presented in October, it is now proposed for December, with the public engagement programme to commence in February 2018, with a view to completing and presenting the final ZIPA by mid April 2018. The meeting was informed that the delay is as a result of the Committee seeking additional ecological and economic data to inform its decision making. Proposed John Talbot Seconded Mark Webb That the Committee seeks agreement from Environment Canterbury to amend the date for the delivery of the Zone Implementation Programme Addendum from December 2017 to mid April 2018. MOTION CARRIED The meeting concluded at 4.15pm. Chairperson 20 November 2017 Orari-Temuka-Opihi-Pareora Zone #1116601 3 Management Committee
