Come in from the sun Welcome to a new generation of tanning products. While the concept of sunless tanning lotions is not a new one, technology has finally caught up. The Sunless Express Spray Spa is the culmination of countless hours of research on methods of applying sunless tanning lotion. Sunless tanning products work by creating a response with the top two layers of your skin. Dihydroxyacetone, or DHA, reacts naturally with the protein in your skin. A brown tan forms within approximately two to three hours after your session, and continues to darken for up to 24 hours. The result is a substantive tan. It is absolutely water-resistant and diminishes only as the dead cells of the skin flake off - usually one to two weeks. DHA is a common chemical used in multiple ways throughout our normal everyday lives. For example, DHA is often used as an additive in food and cosmetics. Please take the time to read through this guide to familiarize yourself with the concept of sunless tanning and the proper usage of your new equipment. Thank you, and Welcome once again! i

Operation Operation of the sunless tanning booth requires just two buttons. The first is the Start/Stop button on the Sunless Express Remote Control (SERC) supplied with the booth (see illustration 1). Pressing this button sends a signal to the booth to allow a single session to run. After the session is complete the display on the SERC will indicate a.. meaning the room needs to be sanitized. After cleaning the unit press the up ( ) button on the SERC until a 0 appears. Once the Start/Stop button (on the SERC) is pressed the booth receives the signal and is ready for the session. Enter the booth, close the door and an automated voice will explain the sunless tanning experience. Press the green Start button on the wall to begin (see illustration 2). The SERC is also capable of telling the booth to run two back-to-back sessions without resetting. To do this, press the up ( ) button until the display shows a 4 (signifying the Spray Manifold will make four passes over your body). Read on for tanning instructions as well as a complete script of the tanning session. Refer to Remote Connections - Operation with remote for operation while connected to a T-Max remote system. 5 Illustration 1 (SERC) Illustration 2

Operation - the tanning session Before you tan For best results, exfoliate before using the tanning unit. Do not use lotion on your body before you tan. This may act as a barrier and prevent some areas from getting tan. Remove any makeup from face. Remove contacts. Remove all jewelry. Women: Place the shower cap right at the hairline. This will prevent any unnecessary tan lines on your forehead. Men: If you have a receding hair-line or balding - to prevent tan-line, do not wear the shower cap unless your hair is naturally very light or is chemically lightened. Apply neutralizing lotion to hands and toes with special attention to cuticle coverage. Be careful not to apply neutralizing lotion to areas you want tan as white spots will result. You may remove any misplaced blocker with a moisture wipe. During the tanning session Upon closing the door you will hear the following instructions... Welcome to the Sunless Express spray spa! For best results, follow the instructions exactly. Please place your feet in the boxes and stand as close to the door as possible. Point your toes toward the sides. Place your arms above your head and bend elbows slightly. Palms should be facing forward. Raise your chin upward. To hear the instructions again open the door and close it one time. Press the green start button to begin your session and again, place your hands above your head, palms facing forward. See the chart located on the rear wall of the booth for complete positioning instructions. Pressing the Start button will begin the tanning session. At the end of the countdown, close your eyes and hold your breath as the spray passes your upper body. 3,2,1. The spray mist will coat the front of your body. 6

Operation - the tanning session You may open your eyes and breathe freely. Please turn around and face the door. Please place your feet in the boxes and stand as close to the door as possible. Point your toes toward the sides. Place your arms above your head and bend elbows slightly. Palms should be facing the door. Press the green start button to begin your session and again, place your hands above your head, palms facing the door. At the end of the countdown, close your eyes and hold your breath as the spray passes your upper body. 3,2,1 The spray will now coat the back side of your body. Thank you for using the Sunless Express spray spa. At this time you may open your eyes and breathe freely. Upon exiting the spa, please dry off with the towels provided. Enjoy your tan. 7 Safety features Panic Stop Button - Pressing the Stop button will immediately end the session at any time. Gantry Safety Mechanism - If there is any pressure placed on the spray manifold during operation, the unit will stop and the session will end. Check the mechanism for any obstructions before using again. After the tan After your session, you will notice a light mist on your body. First, wipe your hands with the moisture wipes. Next, gently wipe the rest of your body, as if getting out of the shower. When you are completely dry, wipe your hands again with the moisture wipes in case your hands came in contact with the solution while drying off. Be sure you are completely dry before getting dressed. This will eliminate most of the bronzer residue on the inside of your clothing. You will not notice a lot of immediate color from your session. The tan will begin to develop within 2 to 3 hours after the session and continue to darken for up to 24 hours. Wait 4-6 hours before showering or engaging in activities which encourage persperation as this will wash the bronzer off your body before it has enough time to affect the color of your skin.

Care and Maintenance Your Sunless Express spray spa has been designed and engineered for years of service. However, much like changing the oil in your car, there are some care and maintenance issues to keep in mind. The next few pages outline the various periodic duties you need to perform broken down by frequency. Refer to the pictures in Getting to Know the Sunless Express. WARNING Shock hazard. Disconnect power before servicing. Cleaning after use After each use it is necessary to clean and disinfect the booth by activating the Washdown cycle. 1. Close the door and press the Washdown button on the Control Module located in the Control Cabinet. 2. After the Washdown cycle is complete, wipe the internal walls. You may use the squeegee provided or a soft towel. 3. Disinfect and dry the step and door handles. 4. Reset the remote control unit by holding the up button until the display reads 0. Before you turn out the lights At the end of each day of usage there are a few things to check to make sure the unit continues to function satisfactorily. 1. Stand the inside mat up on edge to allow it to dry and encourage air movement within the base cavity. 2. Be sure to leave the door open. 3. Check the level of tanning and disinfectant solution. Try not to let the levels drop below about 1 1/2 inches to avoid running dry. 10

Care and Maintenance Thorough periodic cleaning On a monthly basis a little extra care is needed. 1. Thoroughly clean the internal walls, rubber seals and spray manifold to remove any solution residue. 2. Remove the Floor Mat and Floor Mat Plate and use a hose to spray them off. 3. Clean the outside of the unit as needed using non-ammonia cleaners. 4. Replace the solution bottle with one containing only water and run the unit for a complete cycle to purge the system. 5. While the solution bottle is removed, rinse the solution filters in warm water. Changing/refilling solutions For best results, the level of tanning solution and disinfectant should not be less than 1 1/2 inches. When changing solutions you may pour any remaining liquid from the used bottle into the new one if there is enough room in the new bottle. 1. Lift the tanning solution and/or disinfectant container out of the Spill Tray and place on the floor. 2. Remove the cap, complete with the hose, from the used container. 3. Remove the cap from the replacement container and screw onto the used container to save any unused solution. 4. Insert the solution filter hose into the new container and secure the cap. 5. Place new bottle into Spill Tray. 6. Check to verify the solution filter hose touches the bottom of the container. 11

Care and Maintenance Mechanical inspection Along with the monthly thorough cleaning, inspect the unit s mechanical integrity. 1. Inspect all bolts, nuts, screws and other fasteners to make sure all are secure. 2. Check door hinges for signs of wear. 3. Pay special attention to the Spray Manifold track system and belt for signs of wear. This is the heart of the unit. 4. Inspect the counterweight for smooth movement by sliding it up and down its guide. It should glide freely. 5. Check all hose connections, pumps, valves and water heater for leaks. 6. Make sure the AC power cord is in good shape and firmly plugged in at both ends. 7. Check all filters and clean or replace those which appear dirty. 8. Check proper operation of the gantry safety system... With the solution system off, turn unit on. Press down on the Spray Manifold as it rises. It should stop without much force. 9. Clean the spray nozzles carefully. 12 Component maintenance 1. Purge the water heater per manufacturers requirements. 2. Maintain Waster pump per manufacturers requirements. 3. The Evacuation Fan needs no regular maintenance. 4. Clean unit as described in Thorough periodic cleaning.

Remote Connections T-Max Products Your Sunless Express remote control unit incorporates advanced circuitry allowing it to connect and communicate with the popular T-Max remote control systems. The booth can be connected to any T-Max Manager or 1A or 3A. Refer to the appropriate section that follows. T-Max Manager Remote System This system is ideal for multiple sunbed installations, including the Sunless Express. Simply connect the RJ-22 modular cable(s), described in the T-Max Manager manual, into the remote port(s) located on the back of the Sunless Express Remote Control (SERC) and follow the instructions that came with your remote system. If you have an older T- Max Manager that does not support auto addressing, set the address of the SERC manually as described in Setting the address manually. You can place your booth at any location in the series (see illustration below). 13 T-Max 1A and 3A Remote Systems The T-Max 1A and 3A can offer the same control as the T-Max Manager in single unit installations. If you re using a 1A, it must have a chip labelled master installed on its circuit board. After you have set the T-Max 1A s, or 3A s, address to 0 (refer to your T-Max user s guide) and the SERC s address to 1, simply connect the RJ-22 modular cables, described in the T-Max user s guide, directly into either port located on the back of the SERC and either port on the back of the T-Max 1A or 3A. Setting the address manually Before connecting the SERC to the T- Max Manager or T-Max 1A or 3A, the address must first be set. Set the address manually as described below. 1. Remove power from the T-Max Manager or 1A or 3A. 2. Plug in the SERC. It should show 9.9 on the display and sound an alarm. If it just shows 0 go to step 4. 3. Press and release the Start/Stop button. The display will flash 8.8 and the alarm will stop. Press the Up button until the display stops flashing and shows a 0.

Section - subheading 4. Press and hold the Start/Stop and Up buttons simultaneously until a.1 appears. This may take about 5-6 seconds. Release the buttons. 5. Press the Start/Stop button. A flashing number will appear. This is the address that the SERC is set to. 6. Press the Up or Down button until the desired address is displayed. Note: When setting the addresses, remember these three rules; Each tanning unit in the salon (including the SERC) needs a unique address. Do not set the SERC to 00. If the period is flashing, you are over address 100. 7. Once the desired address is displayed, press and release the Start/Stop button. A steady.1 will be displayed. 8. Press and hold both the Up and Down buttons until a 0 is displayed. 9. Connect the SERC into the remote series. 14 Operation with remote When connected to a T-Max system the unit operates differently than explained in Operation. The session is activated from the Manager, 1A or 3A. To activate a single session send a 2 from the remote (refer to your T-Max manual). For a double session, send a four (4). This will activate the unit and the session starts when the tanner enters the booth and presses the Start button inside the unit. The use of two and four correspond to the number of passes the Spray Manifold will make over your body during the session. After the session is complete the SERC will display.. indicating the room needs cleaning. Refer to Care and Maintenance - Cleaning after use for cleaning instructions. After cleaning, press the Up button on the SERC to clear the.. indication and ready the unit for the next session.
