Fly into Halifax airport and be picked up for a direct van transfer to charming Lunenburg, just an hour s ride away from the Nova Scotia capital. Your two-wheeled travels don t begin until tomorrow, so once you ve checked into the modern, four-star Lunenburg Arms, kick back, relax, and get to know your new tour mates over dinner. You may be here for the cycling, and we ll start off with a great loop ride. But Lunenburg is rich with active experiences. Golf, hiking, and kayaking all have a strong presence in this UNESCO World Heritage town. Nautical types will get a kick out of the maritime museum or a cruise on the famous Bluenose. The Lunenburg Arms is centrally located, making it easy to walk to whatever town attraction has caught your eye. If you re lucky, you may even have a view of the picturesque harbor from your room. Many guided tours would send you through a region at a whirlwind pace, but not this one. We ll delve deeper into more of the Lunenberg countryside on today s exhilarating yet peaceful rolling loop ride. With stunning countryside and seaside views, Lunenburg is often lauded as the prettiest small town in Canada. The vineyards and farms near Wolfville make for stunning scenery, whether you re cycling or walking. You ll be well poised to explore further at the centrally located Blomidon Inn, a historic, but well-turned out property featuring lovely gardens and superb food. Make sure you ve put away a hearty breakfast, because our longest ride is here. You ll pedal along flats, hills, and stunning coastal views as we make our way to the UNESCO World Heritage-designated Grand Pre. This national historic site commemorates a seventeenth- to eighteenthcentury Acadian settlement that lived in harmony with the local Mi kmaq people before their forced expulsion during the French and Indian War. The visitor center s multimedia exhibits illuminate this chapter of Canadian history, but the real selling point is the area s sweeping beauty. From manicured gardens to the gentle arc of Evangeline Beach to the wetlands of the Minas Basin, nature lovers have plenty to sink their teeth into. After we warm up on our way back to Lunenberg, you ll have the chance to enjoy even more stunning scenery on a brief hike from Hirtles Beach to Gaff Point. The well-maintained, ocean-weathered trail will take you through forest before opening up to the pounding surf. We ll ride back to Lunenberg, or a shuttle will be available for those who prefer to zip back to town. If you enjoyed your stay at the Lunenburg Arms before, you re in luck. We return to our starting point for the final night of the tour. Ciclismo Classico 1-800-866-7314 info@ciclismoclassico.com www.ciclismoclassico.com 4
