OTTAWA LYNX (4-5) Philadelphia Phillies MEDIA NOTES April 19, 2007. Lynx Stadium, Ottawa, ON RILEY DENVER, DIRECTOR, MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS JODY KINGSBURY, MEDIA RELATIONS ASSISTANT MEDIA RELATIONS PHONE: (613) 747-5969 (EXT. 235) MEDIA RELATIONS E-MAIL: denver@ottawalynx.com www.ottawalynx.com Game 10 of 144 Home Game 3 of 72 Game 3 of an 6-game homestand Game 3 of a 4-game series CHARLOTTE KNIGHTS (5-7) Chicago White Sox MATINEE THURSDAY: Tonight s game will be the 144th game in the history between the two clubs. The Lynx lead the all-time series, with a record of 74-69 in the 143 games played between the two teams. The Knights won the season series in 2006, taking the first five games before the Lynx came back and won the last three. All three Lynx wins against Charlotte last season were in the friendly confines of Lynx Stadium and that trend has continued this season, as the Lynx have taken the first two games against Charlotte in Ottawa this season. ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Knights came out strong with two runs in the top of the second inning, but that lead wouldn't last long. The Lynx came back with two of their own. Brennan King walked and was moved to second by Jason Jaramillo's single before Pedro Swann drove King home with an RBI double. Carlos Leon brought Jaramillo home on a groundout to tie the game. But the Lynx attack would strike in the third, fourth and fifth inning to stretch the lead to 7-2. Burnham brought home Chris Coste with a two-out RBI double in the third. Chris Roberson got his team-leading 9th RBI of the season when he singled home Jason Jaramillo in the bottom of the fourth. Jaramillo notched his RBI the next inning and he was joined by Carlos Leon in driving home a run in the Lynx three-run fifth. Charlotte would get single runs in the seventh and eighth, but Yoel Hernandez would pitch a perfect ninth inning to nail down his first save of the season and make the Lynx third straight win official. LYNX LURKING ON LEAGUE LEADERBOARD: Thanks to 13 hits last night against Charlotte, the Lynx took over the IL lead with a.283 batting average. Gary Burnham is in second place in the League s on-base percentage race (.532) after he notched a hit and a walk last night. Burnham is 10th in the IL with a.364 batting average, while Jason Jaramillo s excellent homestand has vaulted him to a tie for 7th (.375). Chris Roberson s team-leading 9 RBI put him in a tie for 6th. J.A. Happ is tied for the IL lead in ERA. He is one of only four pitchers who have not allowed a run, while pitching at least 0.8 innings per team game. Brian Mazone s 7.0 innings last night tied him for the League lead in innings pitched (18.0). Zach Segovia is one of only two IL pitchers who have thrown a complete game this season. Segovia turned the trick in the first game of the Lynx doubleheader Saturday in Syracuse (6.0 IP). TRUE EVERYDAY PLAYERS: Centrefielder Chris Roberson has started all eight Lynx games this season in centrefield and has been the leadoff hitter in every game, as well. Brennan King has started every game at thirdbase. THE HITS KEEP ON COMING: Last night, Gary Burnham and Chris Coste equalled Lou Collier s five-game hit streak, which is the longest of the 2007 season. Jason Jaramillo has now hit in four straight games, one back of the trio of players with the season-high. LYNX BULLPEN SAVES THE DAY: The Lynx bullpen has registered a save in each of the past three games, Brian Sanches finished off Lynx wins in Syracuse April 14th (Game 2) and at home against Charlotte April 17th. Yoel Hernandez came in to notch his first save of the season last night. ON THE HILL TONIGHT: Lefty Jim Crowell takes the mound today against Charlotte. The 32-year-old veteran struggled in his first start of the season April 11th in Buffalo, giving up five earned runs over 1.1 innings. Crowell has more than 350 Minor League games on his resume, as well as three stints in the Major Leagues with Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Florida.
