Team Vortex Long Course Sprint Open Pentathlon April 16, 2016 Sanction: Held under the sanction of USA Swimming # 2016-038 In granting this sanction it is understood and agreed the USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims or damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. At a sanctioned competitive event, USA Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm up, competition, and warm down. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. The Meet Director or Meet Referee may assist the swimmer in making arrangements for such supervision, but it is the swimmer s responsibility to make such arrangement s prior to the start of the meet. Location: Facilities: EPIC Pool 1801 Riverside Avenue Fort Collins, Colorado Located at Edora Park off Prospect Avenue, between I-25 and Lemay Avenue Ten lane, 50-meter pool, with nonturbulent lane lines. Water depth at start end is 12 feet and turn end is 3.5 feet. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C (4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming. 8 lanes will be used for competition, depending on volume of entries. One continuous warm-up/warm-down lane will be provided for serious warmup/ warm-down only. No team practice sessions will be allowed in the warm-up lane. Schedule: SATURDAY, April 16, 2016 Session I All 10 & Under age groups and 12 & Under Girls Warm Up: 7:30 8:20 a.m. Start: 8:30 a.m. Session II Ages 11 & Over Boys and All 13 & Over age groups Warm Up: 12:30 1:20 p.m. Start: 1:30 p.m. Rules: Eligibility: Current USA Swimming rules will govern this meet. The Meet Referee will have final authority on all matters related to the meet. Coaches and parents will be responsible for the behavior and safety of their swimmers and their families. Teams will be held responsible for any damage to the meet facility. Positive sportsman-like conduct will be expected. The use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, restrooms, or locker rooms. Except where venue facilities require otherwise, changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited. No on-deck photography is allowed from behind the starting platforms. Open to all swimmers holding a 2016 USA Swimming membership. Age as of April 16, 2016 determines age group. Swimmers within the 120-day transfer period must swim Unattached. No Qualification Times are required. Any swimmer who appears on the Colorado Swimming (CSI) exceptions report without registration must come to the meet prepared to show proof of current membership, or they will be deck registered before they can enter the water. The deck registration fee will include the $8 pool surcharge plus the current registration fee. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by a USA Swimming member-coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a member-coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. Events: Swimmers may enter up to five (5) events. This meet will be pre-seeded. Swimmers must swim all five (5) individual Pentathlon events in order to be eligible for high-point awards. These times will be totaled and the fastest three (3) boys/girls in each age group will receive high-point awards. Swimmers not swimming all five (5) events will be allowed to compete for individual times, and all age groups except 15 & Over will receive 1 st 16 th place ribbons as described in the awards section. If a swimmer DQ s in an event, his or her time for that event will be increased by 10%. If the DQ is intentional in the opinion of the Meet Referee, the swimmer will be disqualified from the event and ineligible for an individual award.
Entry Procedure: A. Computer file entries, prepared using Hy-Tek compatible software. THIS IS THE ENTRY METHOD OF PREFERENCE. Your team is responsible for the accuracy of the entries in the file. For your own records include a PDF electronic copy of your Hy-Tek entries from the computer entry file. B. Master sheets for each age group must include name, age (as of the first day of the meet), USA number, and team code. Be sure to include the coaches name, address, and phone number, and meet verification form on the Master Entry sheets. Failure to do so may result in swimmer entered improperly. If you enter 5 or more swimmers you must enter on HY-TEK or pay a $25 fee. We will gladly accept entries on HY-TEK along with a printout of the disk. Deck Entries: Entry Fees: Entry Deadline: Deck entries will be accepted until 8:10 a.m. the day of competition, provided that extra heats are not created. The Meet Director must approve deck entries, which will cost $7.00 per event. All deck entries must present proof of current membership. INDIVIDUAL EVENTS: $6.00 per event ($.75 of each individual event goes to the CSI Support Fund) POOL SURCHARGE: $9.00 per swimmer ONE CHECK PER TEAM, PAYABLE TO: Team Vortex Swim Club Entries must be received by our entry chairman by Sunday, April 3rd. Certified mail has priority over regular mail and will be prioritized by date and time. THIS MEET IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 175 SWIMMERS FOR THE MORNING SESSION AND THE FIRST 225 SWIMMERS FOR THE AFTERNOON SESSION, INCLUDING TEAM VORTEX SWIM CLUB. Scratches: Scoring: Coaches must present a scratch list to the Clerk of Course before the end of the warm-up session. Individual swimmers will be scored for the Pentathlon on their combined time totals in all five (5) individual events. Age Groups: 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 & Over. Age as of April 16, 2016 determines age group. Awards: Ribbons for individual events 1 st 16 th place for the following age groups: 8 & Under, 9 10, 11 12, and 13 14. High-point medals for the 1 st through 3 rd place boy and girl with the fastest total Pentathlon times in the 8 & Under, 9 10, 11 12, 13 14, and 15 & Over age groups. Heat winner awards for all swimmers.
Warm-up: Programs: Results: Concessions: Current USA/CSI procedures for warm-up will prevail and will be strictly enforced. Coaches are asked to make sure their swimmers understand and abide by these procedures. $5.00 each. Coaches copies are provided free of charge. Final results will be mailed within 14 days and will be returned on HY-TEK disk to teams entering on HY-TEK disk. A selection of food and drink will be available at EPIC s concession stand.
