CREW Chef - Kristy Marner From a young age, Kristy discovered her enthusiasm and love of cooking from her parents. Growing up in a small rural village in Royal Berkshire, England, she would help her parents pick runner beans, rhubarb and tomatoes from the kitchen garden, and make jams and chutneys from the plums and apple trees. Kristy discovered an unusual route into the Super Yacht industry. She trained at university as an Equine Scientist, after which she ran a racing yard in Newmarket, Suffolk and then moved to Chamonix in France to pursue her love of snowboarding. She worked in high end boutique chalets, cooking for up to 20 guests, as well as hosting cocktail parties, caring for and entertaining children of all ages, and guiding guests up the mountains. Here she gained an in depth knowledge of French and fusion cuisine. This is where she met Hef, and decided that her extensive repertoire of skills could be adapted and utilized in the yachting world. She undertook a Day Skipper course in Southampton, following a cooking course at Ashburton Cookery School in Cornwall. Kristy also took part in a Sri Lankan cookery course to widen her skills in traditional styles of cooking.
