The team selection committee, including coaches, may also invite additional players to the tryout. The number of additional invites will be based on space available at the camp, and invitations will be based on information gleaned from the WUGC tryout process, the 2016 USA Ultimate Triple Crown Tour season, and in this application. With more than 70 athletes receiving automatic invitations, additional spots will be limited. HOW MANY PLAYERS WILL BE CHOSEN FOR THE US TEAM? The World Games is a competition for mixed teams. All (20) players selected to the full national team roster will be expected to assist with fundraising efforts to help offset expenses being covered by USA Ultimate. HOW WILL THE TEAM BE SELECTED? The selection committee for the USA Ultimate national teams, including the coaching staff and USA Ultimate staff, will select the team based on the 2017 tryout camp and additional information available regarding players qualifications for the team, including USA Ultimate national team and TCT club competitions. Note that as USA Ultimate continues to develop its national team program, integration between teams over time will continue to play a larger role in team selection. In line with this strategy, the 2016 WUGC national team experience will play a large part in determining the tryout pool for the 2017 World Games national team. The head coach of the team is Alexander Ghesquiere (Washington, DC) and the assistant coach is Matty Tsang (San Francisco, CA). Team members will be selected based on the following factors: level of skill, experience (including in the division they will be representing), spirit, dedication to the sport, and ability to be strong teammates and ambassadors for

USA Ultimate. Geographic diversity of the team and will also be taken into consideration. The goal is to reward players who demonstrate exceptional talent and skill and to encourage them to aspire to higher levels of play. This is a showcase for the quality of Ultimate played in the U.S. TRY-OUT CAMP INFORMATION USA Ultimate will hold a single camp in late February or early March, 2017. The exact date and location of the camp will be communicated to applicants as soon as they are confirmed. The camp will be run by the National Team coaches, USA Ultimate staff, and other selection advisors. The camp will run from approximately 9-5 on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday. The camp fee will cover facility costs, coach/staff costs, and camp logistics/setup. Camp attendees will be responsible for transportation to and from the camps, lodging, and meals during camp. The camp s primary focus will be to evaluate players for the National Team selection. The format of the camp will be designed to assess the attendees on the criteria listed above. Activities will include drills, scrimmages, and tests of physical fitness as well as applicant interviews with the coaches. Attendees will be taught advanced skills, strategies, and concepts as well. The fee for attending a camp is estimated based on a total number of applicants. The fee may rise or fall depending on the actual number of camp attendees. Approximately 35 applicants of each gender will be invited to attend the tryout camp. Applicants who are not invited to the tryout camp will no longer be considered for the team. CONFLICTS WITH THE 2017 WFDF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS OF BEACH ULTIMATE (WCBU) Players who accept a spot on a WCBU team will remain eligible for consideration for the World Games team. WCBU rosters must be finalized with WFDF by April 15. Between World Games player selections and the April 15 WCBU deadline, beach team managers will need to fill any roster spots they have lost to the World Games team. WCBU players who have aspirations for the World Games team should not plan travel for WCBU until they know they are not going to be on the World Games team. This could happen as early as tryout invitations, or as late as after World Games tryouts, depending on the player. WCBU team managers will draw from a pool of alternates to fill in spots left by World Games players. HOW TO APPLY 1. APPLICATION FORM - Fill out the application form online.
