Fluted Barrels At E. R. Shaw Custom Barrels we offer two types of rifle barrel fluting for you to choose from - Traditional Straight Fluting and Shaw s Patented (U.S. Patents DES. 426,611 & USG. 324,780B1) Helical Fluting. The unique appearance of our Helical Fluting provides the discriminating shooter with a barrel that not only looks great but is up to thirty percent more rigid than a similar barrel with Straight Fluting. Helical fluting provides additional surface area for improved cooling, improved barrel harmonics, and helps to counter act rotational torque, giving the shooter greater shot consistency. E. R. Finishes and Bluing Services Our premium-grade bluing is second to none. We use an exclusive blue-black process which results in a rich, deep luster. For those wishing that added custom touch, we offer a bead-blast matte finish which is glare-free and lends an understated elegance to any rifle, especially those stocked in the classic style. Our bead-blast matte finish is also available on our 416 Stainless Steel barrel. Please note that our action bluing services are available only on rifle barreled actions that we have installed on one of our barrels. Twist Rates Use the chart below to select the standard twist rate for you custom rifle. Twist rates must correspond to the calibers listed. Please refer to the icons in the caliber list to determine which twist rate can be used in your custom barrel. The number in the box corresponds to the number of inches per complete right-hand twist. Barrel Installation Let our Gunsmithing Department fit an E. R. Shaw barrel to your bolt action. We can handle just about any turnbolt - Mausers (military, commercial and Siamese); Springfields, Enfields (P-14 and P17 only); all Remington 700 series, Winchester Model 70, Savage 110 series, Weatherby Mark V and Vanguard, Ruger 77, etc. Unfortunately, we do not install.22 rimfire, semi-autos, single shots, or levers. The only pistol that we rebarrel is the Remington XP-100. Regrettably, we cannot alter commercial actions such as Remington, Winchester, Ruger, Savage etc. from Standard to Magnum calibers. * Notice: All barrels must be fitted by a competent Gunsmith Gunsmithing Services Our gunsmithing department can drill and tap military actions for scope mount bases, alter feed rails, open bolt faces for standard magnum cartridges, modify bolt handles for scope clearance or install new, custom bolt handles. Our Product Offerings Simplified: Any Caliber. Any Length. Any Finish. That about covers it. Small Arms Manufacturing can supply any barrel, to any degree of finish from simple blanks to finished barrels drilled, reamed, rifled and chambered. We utilize only gun-barrel-certified 4140 chrome moly and 416R stainless steel. We cover every caliber from.17 to 12-gauge, up to a length of 41 inches. We currently produce more than 2,700 configurations, including rimfire, centerfire, shotgun and black powder all button-rifled. Our production capabilities enable us to manufacture product in any quantity required. We can provide barrels precut to your finished specs, or in lengths you can cut into multiples. We produce everything from rifled blanks to fully-finished, threaded and chambered barrels. In short, submit a drawing and we ll produce it for you. 23
