You ll eat the food you find and catch, tell survival stories by the campfire, and write some new ones as you ascend and descend steep cliff faces and cross near-impossible terrain. On Day Three, you ll enjoy an epic helicopter flip across the moors, before being left alone for 24 hours to put everything you ve learnt to a final test. Run, jump, climb, swim Self-rescue is key, and you must reach safety NOTE: You must arrive no later than 14:30 for a prompt start. Your course will finish on day 4 at 14:30, please take this into consideration when arranging onward travel.
So many people have asked me over the years where they can learn extreme, practical survival - the type that requires spirit, determination and the skills to self-rescue against the odds, in some of the harshest terrain around. So it is with great pride that we can now finally launch the Bear Grylls Survival Academy to be able to share some of these skills and what it really means to be able to look after yourself when the chips are down, says Bear Grylls. Oh, and it may hurt a little. says Bear Grylls. Day 1 - Arrival The adventure begins at 14:30 with a chance to meet your course leaders, fellow participants, and to ensure you have all the items on the Kit List. We will then move over rugged terrain by 4x4 vehicles to the Academy s wilderness base camp. On arrival you will receive a safety brief, course brief and outline. You will then be issued with your personal training equipment. Now we are straight in to a BG Priorities of Survival lecture followed by a practical skills session on knife use. As the evening goes on, you will have the chance to explore your bleak surroundings and sort out your sleeping accommodation. After that your culinary skills will be tested as you prepare and cook an Alpine Style Hut Meal for your group with only wild and natural ingredients. It will be your first real challenge with no running water, electricity or processed food on hand. This may be the last hot food you eat Day 2 Today includes a field physical training session, practical use of knots and improvised harnesses lesson followed by survival navigation training. The day continues with remote and improvised First Aid, followed by the practical use of snares, traps and drop out fishing lines. As evening draws in you will learn how to forage for food and identify what can be eaten in the wild, purify and filter dirty river water, skin, gut and prepare a range of wild food and another navigation lesson but this time using the stars. The day ends with some Bear Grylls survival stories around the fire. Day 3 After an early start and a lesson in self-defense, self-preservation, primal instinct training, you re off on an extreme mountain training day. You ll learn how to cross difficult ground, navigate across wild terrain, dynamically and safely ascend and descend cliff faces and difficult ground using a variety of BG techniques. In late afternoon you will be travelling to the next training area in typical extreme Bear Grylls fashion. If the weather conditions allow, and subject to availability, then its low a level helicopter flight across the moor EPIC! There may be some surprises on the way It s now time to put all your newly found skills to practice as you are dropped off and left alone on the moor to survive for 24 hours in some of the most remote and harshest terrain in the world. Good luck! Day 4 If you have survived the night, no one is going to rescue you. As a team, selfrescue is the key, run, jump, climb, swim. You must reach captivity
