Diving at Pomene is remote and very beautiful with no other operations in the area. We can easily guarantee that you will not be sharing the reefs with any other divers. The dives are however, a fair distance from the lodge and in times of inclement sea conditions, it may occur that you might not dive every day. Although Manta and Whale Sharks are regularly seen on all of the reefs, there are no spots where sighting can be guaranteed. See you soon! CROC'S WALL NORTH MARK (16-40) This site is also about 20km from base & is a most northerly extension of Sylvia Shoal. This is a wall of rock running N-S for approximately 4km.Starting in a depth of 15m & dropping down to around 40m this site also attracts the larger ocean creatures. Marlin, Sailfish & a variety of Sharks can be sighted here. The reef is home to an abundance of green coral trees, forming miniature forests along the wall. Suitable for advanced + certification levels. 16 km 40m 15 m 20 m +- 20 minutes RAPPIES PLAYSTATION (8-34) This small reef can be challenging, but is an excellent dive. It is a pinnacle, ranging from 9m to abut 20m, with numerous caves, gulleys and swim-throughs. The caves are filled with snappers and shoals of kingfish hide in the lee of the pinnacles. We have also seen a Napoleon Wrasse on Rapies which ispossibly the most southerly recording for the species. Potato bass, Brindle bass, Manta and grey reef sharks are regularly seen. 6 km 21m 18 m +- 50 minutes HOTEL PINNACLE

This is a great dive sight just 1km off the old hotel point and 6km south of the lodge. The reef is for advance divers and divers with further dive training. Like all of our deeper dives it gives a great feeling of not knowing what marine life will show itself at anytime. On the descent you will often swim through a large school of blood snappers which are really curious. Hotel pinnacle drops down onto the sand at 30m and 26m on the reef. The outer edge of the reef is scattered with beautiful big black coral. Other attractions of the reef is a big anchor which lays on the northern edge of the reef, accompanied by sea apples just within sight of the anchor. 6 km 30m 27 m +- 20 minutes BAIT FISH Situated in the bay a short distance from the shore this site offers a relaxed and shallow dive and is often populated with bait fish hence the name. 3,5 km Junior 8 m 8 m NA BAY LEDGE NORTH MARK This is a dive sight just 6km straight out to see from the lodge. This is a dive sight for advanced divers and above as the ledge comes up to 26m and drops down to 32m at the bottom of the ledge. All along the ledge there is big green tree coral with hundreds and hundreds of Coachmen surrounding that whole area. There are always big Potato Bass swimming around the ledge and it comes as no surprise if a Manta is spotted as there is a cleaning station on top of the reef. We have also had sightings of big game fish in this area like Sailfish. 6,5 km 32 m 26 m + - 20 min

BAY LEDGE SOUTH MARK An excellent deeper dive along the edge of Zambia offering sightings of numerous bigger species. 6 km 32 m 26 m + - 20 min STEPS (8-26m) This site is extensive, running N-S about 1km offshore. This is an outer edge dive consisting of two steps starting in 8m dropping down to 26m (Dive depth is 15m). This is a great site on a slight to strong current where one can drift anything up to 2km covering some really beautiful territory. There is also a good chance of encountering a variety of pelagics, reef fish, tropical s, some really gigantic Morays & the occasional Manta. Suitable for all certification levels. 6.7 km 26 m 16-18 m depending on depth +- 50 min 3 SISTERS This dive sight is on the most northern part of Zambia reef and most certainly one of our best reefs and anyone who has had the pleasure of diving 3 sisters will tell you no different. It is 3 huge pinnacles, hence the name 3 sisters out in the big blue lying in 38m of water with two of the pinnacles coming up to 32m and the other up to 28m. It is a dive for advanced divers. This sight truly makes you feel as you are diving out in the big blue as it is 21km north of the lodge and approximately 10km offshore. We have had sightings of Manta, Eagle Rays more often than not, and a rare Banded Butterfly fish which is resident there. On ascent we have spotted Hammerhead Sharks and Black Tips and Devil Rays dancing around us. 21 km Advance 32-38 m 30 m +- 20 min

BIG SURPRISE (12-60m) This site is roughly 20km from base & forms the first step to the continental shelf. As the name implies one regularly has sightings of large fish species, a variety of Shark species & every so often sightings of Sailfish & Marlin. The reef itself is home to a variety of coral (soft & hard), sponges & some really large green coral tree specimens. Suitable for all certification levels bearing in mind that large creatures may be encountered. 20 km 18 m 16 m +- 56 min KITWE (12-24m) This is an isolated pinnacle situated slightly NW of Main Zambia shoal. This is a great dive site for tropical enthusiasts. The whole pinnacle is literally covered in plate corals & anemones providing shelter for hundreds of tiny tropical species. One also occasionally sights White Tip Reef Shark, Turtles & game fish here. Suitable for advanced + certification levels. 16,5 km 22 m 18 m +- 50 min PENSION This is a reef for all divers as it only reaches a depth of 15m and is 7km north of the lodge. Pension consists of flat scattered reef and has a variety of juvenile tropical species. It gives the great feeling of diving in a big fish tank with big schools of Barracuda and Kingfish passing by. There are also a lot of Rays on the sand patches such as Sharpnose Sting rays and Round Ribbontail Rays. 7 km 14 m 14 m +- 60 min

ROBS WORLD NORTH This is a deeper dive site with interesting topography. It gives one the wild feeling of not knowing whats going to come out of the depths. It s a place that big game tends to pass by. From sharks to gamefish it has a lot to offer. This site also has a few incredibly big green coral trees. A definite must for those looking for excitement. Must have min certification of advanced diver. 9 km 40 m 24 m +- 20 min SLEEPY HOLLOW (6 15 m) As the name implies a lazy beautiful dive on the top of Zambia Shoal. The long gully has a sandy bottom, with beautiful rock formations on either side. Parts have rich coral growth and good densities of fish. 16 km 14 m 9 m +- 60 min TROJAN (12-24m) This is the most southerly point of Zambia Shoal. A lovely inner edge dive, covering extensive reef running N-S. The inner edge has a fair gradient with tumbled rock formations forming some really stunning gullies & deep ledges Great dive for tropicals, general reef fish, morays, game fish & occasional sightings of Nurse sharks, White Tip reef sharks & Mantas. This area also contains some of the most stunning examples of coral growth I have come across in Moçambique. Suitable for all certification levels with an average dive depth of 15m. 12 km 21 m 15 m

+- 60 min THE ESTUARY Pomene Lodge is located on a pristine estuary, which offers shallow, but very interesting macro dives. Dives are done on the high tide, giving a max depth of 6m in places. The entry is right at the dive centre, starting off on an interesting artificial reef. You then cross a sand channel and use the last of the pushing tide to carry you slowly along long bed of seagrass. The tide turns, carrying you home again. Critters to be seen include four species of Seahorse, Pipefish, Frog fish, interesting crustaceans, cucumbers, molluscs, and varied Scorpionfish etc. AN EXCELLENT DIVE!
