DETROIT LIONS AT GREEN BAY PACKERS LAMBEAU FIELD WEEK 9: MONDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2017 The following are post-game notes from the Detroit Lions 30-17 win against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Monday, November 6, 2017. POST-GAME NOTES LIONS WIN ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL With a 30-17 win on Monday Night Football at Green Bay, the Lions have now claimed two victories on MNF in the same season for the first time since 1995 (27-24 vs. SF 9/25/95; 27-7 vs. Chi 12/4/95). In Week 2, the Lions claimed a 24-10 win at the New York Giants on MNF. The win also gives the Lions two road victories on MNF in the same season for the first time since the inception of MNF in 1970. Detroit has now won back-to-back MNF games for the first time since they won three straight in 1994-95 (20-17 OT at Dal 9/19/94; 27-24 vs. SF 9/25/95; 27-7 vs. Chi 12/4/95). Under Head Coach Jim Caldwell (since 2014), the Lions have played on MNF six times and have posted a 4-2 record. The Lions have also won three of four on MNF dating back to a 35-27 win at New Orleans December 21, 2015. Caldwell now has more Monday Night wins (4) than any coach in Lions history, as he surpassed the previous best of three by Monte Clark and Wayne Fontes. The Lions win at Lambeau Field represents Detroit s fifth-straight MNF game that has occurred on the road. Detroit now has a 3-2 record in those five road games. WIN AT LAMBEAU FIELD The Lions have now won two of their past three games at Lambeau Field. The 13-point win represents the largest margin of victory by the Lions at Green Bay since a 30-10 win December 12, 1982. ZERO PUNTS The Lions completed their 30-17 win at Lambeau Field without recording a single punt in the game. The last time the Lions did not punt in a game was against Kansas City November 25, 1971. This was just the third game since 1950 that the Lions have not punted in a single game and it is the only game since 1950 that this was achieved on the road. On the Lions third drive, Detroit took a 14-0 lead on a 4-yard touchdown run by RB Ameer Abdullah. The TD run capped off a 13- play 91-yard drive that covered 6:50, marking the Lions longest touchdown drive of 2017. For the first time this season, the Lions scored on both possessions that opened the first (TD) and second (FG) halves.
QB MATTHEW STAFFORD 200 CAREER TOUCHDOWNS On the opening offensive drive of the game, QB Matthew Stafford connected with WR Marvin Jones, Jr. on a 25-yard touchdown that marked Stafford s 200th career touchdown pass. By reaching 200 career pass TDs in his 117th game, Stafford accomplished this feat in the SIXTH-FEWEST games in NFL history. 300-YARD GAMES Against the Packers, Stafford threw for 361 yards and accumulated his 37 th career 300-yard game, which ties Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner and QB Drew Brees (37) for the FIFTH-MOST 300-yard passing games by a quarterback in his first nine seasons. Including the 312 yards at New Orleans (10/15), Stafford has now compiled 300+-yards in three consecutives games during a single season for the second time in his career. The first time he accomplished this was in Games 14-16 to end the 2011 season (391 at Oak 12/18/11; 373 vs. SD 12/24/11; 520 at GB 1/1/12). STAFFORD AT LAMBEAU FIELD Including wins in 2015 and this year s 30-17 win, Stafford has now quarterbacked the Lions to wins at Lambeau Field in two of the past three seasons. Stafford became the first Lions quarterback to win two games at Lambeau Field since QB Bill Munson in 1968 and 1970. The last Lions quarterback to win two games on the road against the Packers was QB Eric Hipple in 1983 (at Milwaukee) and 1986. TWO 100-YARD RECEIVERS Among the Lions receiving totals against Green Bay included a 113-yard effort by WR Golden Tate and a 107-yard outing by WR Marvin Jones Jr. This marks the Lions first game with two 100-yard receivers since October 18, 2015 vs. Chicago (WR Calvin Johnson, 166; WR Lance Moore 106). WR GOLDEN TATE In the win, WR Golden Tate caught 7 passes for 113 yards. Tate now has 50 receptions through the season s first eight games and has accomplished this for the second time in his career (55 in 2014). Tate and WR Herman Moore (55 in 1995, 59 in 1996, 57 in 1997) are the only players in team history to ever record 50+ receptions through eight games. In the Lions win at Lambeau Field, WR Marvin Jones, Jr. caught 7 passes for 107 yards and scored two touchdowns. With two touchdowns last year at Green Bay, Jones joined WR Herman Moore (1994-95) as the only Lions players since 1950 to register 2+ receiving touchdowns in consecutive games on the road vs. the Packers. With 107 yards, Jones registered his fifth career 100-yard game and the fourth since joining the Lions in 2016. Including the 128 yards vs. Pittsburgh last week, this marked the second time in his career that he recorded 100+ receiving yards in back-to-back games. He also accomplished this in Weeks 2-3 during the 2016 season (118 vs. Ten 9/18/18 and 205 at GB 9/25/16). RB THEO RIDDICK Against the Packers, RB Theo Riddick caught 4 passes for 62 yards. Riddick has now recorded 200 career receptions to become the THIRD Lions running back in team history with 200+ receptions (HOF RB Barry Sanders, 352; FB James Jones, 285). Riddick moved into THIRD-PLACE on the career receptions by Lions running backs list by passing FB Cory Schlesinger (197) and RB Horace King (198). Whitehead s sack was the third of his career and the win marked his third career game with 2 TFLs. CB DARIUS SLAY With one pass defense at Green Bay, CB Darius Slay has now recorded 10+ pass defenses in four consecutive seasons (17 in 2014, 13 in 2015, 13 in 2016). Slay joined CB Dré Bly (2003-06) as the only Lions defensive players since 1991 to record 10+ pass defenses in four different seasons. CB DJ HAYDEN With one pass defense at Green Bay, CB DJ Hayden knocked down the 30 th pass of his career. LS DON MUHLBACH Following the touchdown on the Lions first offensive possession, LS Don Muhlbach snapped on the successful PAT and assisted on the 1,400th point of his career. Overall, he now has helped produce 1,411 points, including 328 field goals and 427 PATs.
