1. Introduction The Formula Renault Northern European Cup was established in 2005, and over the last 13 years has become one of the most important steps on the ladder for the drivers aspiring to reach the pinnacle of motorsport: Formula 1. Our 2018 calendar consists of six weekends, all featuring two free practice and qualifying sessions as well as two races. NEC drivers are also allowed to use two wild cards for the Formula Renault Eurocup series as well. The championship races on a selection of current European Formula 1 tracks and iconic venues such Zandvoort and the Pau street circuit in the south of France. The aim is to provide talented young drivers the best preparation for making the next step in international motorsport.

3. Meeting Format Friday: Two Free Practice sessions of 30 minutes each Saturday: Qualifying session of 15 minutes and Race 1 of 30 minutes + 1 lap Sunday: Qualifying session of 15 minutes and Race 2 of 30 minutes + 1 lap (Please note that the meeting format may change at certain events due to recommendations of the event organisers.)
4. Testing The Formula Renault Northern European Cup is committed to helping drivers reach their full potential, and as a result the championship allows unlimited in-season testing. The only restriction applies to circuits where a round of the championship is due to take place in the following two weeks. The Championship will host a collective pre-season test at Hockenheim on 14 & 15 March 2018. A further test session is planned at Zandvoort, this date will be announced in short.
5. Full Season & Single Race Registration Full Season registration The price for a full season is Euro 18,500,- (ex VAT). This includes the Free Practice sessions, Qualifying sessions and Races during the six race weekends. Single Race registration The price for a single weekend is Euro 3,350.- (ex VAT). This includes the Free Practice sessions, Qualifying sessions and Races during the race weekend. Test days TBA
6. Prizes 2018 season Champion Free Entry to the 2019 season of the Formula Renault Eurocup with a value of 37,500. Second Place Formula Renault Spare Parts with a total value of Euro 7,500.- to be used in the NEC or Eurocup. Third Place Formula Renault Michelin tyres with a total value of Euro 5,000.- to be used in the NEC or Eurocup. All prizes are personal and not transferable. All prizes are only awarded to drivers who have participated the full season.
7. NEC & F1 The Formula Renault Northern European Cup has a proven track record in developing the motorsport stars of tomorrow. Our record for developing future Formula 1 drivers is unparalleled - Mercedes Valtteri Bottas was crowned NEC champion back in 2008, whilst Renault s Carlos Sainz Jr., McLaren s Stoffel Vandoorne, Haas driver Kevin Magnussen, 2015/16 Formula E champion Sébastian Buemi (Toro Rosso) and others including Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull, Toro Rosso) and Antonio Felix da Costa all learnt their trade as part of our series. 2016 series winner Lando Norris has recently been recognised by McLaren with promotion to their official Test and Reserve driver after impressing at a test in Hungary earlier in the year, coupled with his title success in the FIA European F3 Championship. The 2.0 litre Formula Renault car has an equally enviable record; over half of the current Formula 1 grid have raced in the machinery, including Daniel Ricciardo, Esteban Ocon, Felipe Massa, Romain Grosjean, Kimi Räikkönen, Pierre Gasly, Brendon Hartley, Charles Leclerc and recently-crowned four-time World Champion, Lewis Hamilton. Since 2006, we ve welcomed over 600 drivers from a wide range of nationalities to our championship, including Andorra, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Columbia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, USA and Venezuela.
8. The Formula Renault 2.0 Car The Formula Renault 2.0 Car is an excellent single seater to learn to develop their skills in setting up a single seater as well as for fast learning on a number of circuits that will prove useful later in their careers. The chassis, a carbon fibre bodywork designed by Tatuus The engine is a F4R 832 4-cylinder 16 valve 1998cc
9. Suppliers The Formula Renault Northern European Cup works together with top quality suppliers: Michelin is our official tyre supplier, whilst Renault provides a comprehensive spare parts service at each of the six race weekends. Our engine tuners are industry experts Oreca.
10. Public Relations, TV and Social Media The series has its own dedicated website where all the latest news, information and race reaction can be found: www.necup.com. Teams & drivers will be given their own page on the website to promote themselves and their sponsors. Statistics, photographs and other information will be updated over the course of the season. The races will be broadcasted live on the series own YouTube channel. Three-minute highlights are added after most races. Press releases are sent to the international press after each qualifying session and race, as well as during the year. The series has its own press officer and photographer present at all race weekends. Facebook (Formula Renault NEC) and Twitter (@FR2NEC) are used throughout the season and during the race weekends for live updates, along with the championship s Instagram account (frnecup).
