Dear Red Angus Friends: It is with great excitement that we invite you to join us for our Dams of Distinction elite female production sale. Our family has been in the registered cattle business since 1936, and we feel that the future has never been brighter. We have given our best efforts to building our herd and our program, and in our opinion, we have had great success in meeting our goals. We have followed our own path, selecting cattle that excel in a balance of traits, rather than chasing fads or seeking what is popular. Our cattle have been widely accepted and appreciated by folks in 25 states and Canada. They have competed successfully in the show ring on a national level, and our production sales have exceeded our expectations. OHR consignments have topped sales at North Dakota Red Select, the prestigious NILE, Santa Sales, Agri-I, Black Hills Stock Show and the National Western in Denver. At this time, our mature cows are at the peak of their potential, and the youngest show great promise. We feel privileged to own what we feel are some of the great individuals of the breed. Every cow is here because we believe she deserves to be! As you will see, we have paid particular attention to udder quality, longevity, eye-appeal, superior structure and proven genetics. We firmly believe that these Dams of Distinction have been mated to produce the greatest and most valuable generation yet! Our herd bull battery is second to none. In 2000, we raised the popular ABS sire, OHRR Dakota Copper 29K, a premier herd sire that has done everything right for us. Recent additions to our program include 29K son Dakota Rambler and Mr. Red Dawg, the highest REA bull ever recorded with RAAA. As you will see in the reference section, we have a wonderful lineup. Please consider this your very personal invitation to be with us October 1st, and pre-sale day, September 30th. Come early, preview the offering, and talk cattle with us. Most sincerely, The Olsons Edward, Jeanne & Carl Hello Friends: It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the OHR Dams of Distinction Red Angus Female Sale on October 1, the Monday following the National Red Angus Convention. This is a mature dispersal like never before. I can tell you with confidence that this is one of the best herds in the entire breed for udder structure, muscle and performance. Ed might be the strictest breeder in the country when it comes to the herd bulls he uses. When you study this catalog, you will notice there are not a lot of the more commonly used sires in this herd. OHR went their own way and selected genetics they felt would complement their herd as well as their customers. Ed is a big believer that if he does something, he is going to do it right. And that s his philosophy for selecting genetics. He has told me numerous times that he must see the bull and the dam of the bull before he will use him. In doing so, they have developed a super set of cows. Over the past few years, the OHRR herd prefix has been seen in several new and established herds. In fact, OHR has sold bulls, heifers, semen, and embryos all over the U.S. and Canada at quite a premium. I have had the privilege to represent OHR in the Red Power Bull Sales and the Santa Sales over the last four years. Their bulls have averaged over $3,000, while their females averaged over $3,500, with most of these cattle going to repeat buyers. In this sale, you will see some outstanding cow families like Mahogany, Scarlett, Sharee, Ophelia and Roxxy. These lines have been outstanding and will work in any donor program in the country. They have been bred to some of the best bulls in the breed, like the $30,000, 20.5-square inch REA bull WR Mr. Red Dawg 5335; and Red Fine Line Mulberry 26P, who demanded over $100 a straw for semen in Denver last winter. Some amazing things are going to happen with these genetics over the next few years, and you are sitting in the driver s seat. Please join us the night before the sale for a fun-filled social and supper. Along with having good cattle, the owners, Ed, Jeanne and Carl, are great people as well. Their word is golden, and they will stand behind their product 100%. Please call or email any of us if you have questions or would like to place a bid. We will do everything we can to help you out. I invite you to come to the OHR Dams of Distinction Female Sale for a great sale and a great time. See you there. The Scarlett Cow Family Talk about a foundation cow. Ms Neo-Sho Memorial A925 is where it all began for the Scarlett cow family and for the Red Angus breed for us. She was the first Red Angus cow we ever purchased, and boy was she a great one. She raised several great ones like 15F, 4M and 46G, along with several bull calves. 15F is the cow we have always called the perfect uddered cow. She went on and raised top daughters like 10H, which may be the best cow in the sale. This year, A925 raised another top calf, while being 17 years old. Who would have thought she would last this long when we purchased her several years ago? The photo above was taken this summer. Talk about good looks and longevity! If you are a serious breeder, or if you are just starting out and you are taking this business serious, you need to check out this Scarlett Cow Family. You will be more than Son of Ms Neo-Sho Memorial A925 impressed

She is a typical McIntosh daughter, and her calves are powerful and explosive. We love this cow, and she never disappoints us. She is the dam of the great 10H cow; grandam of Dakota Rambler 75R, who sold for $15,000 for one-half interest; dam to a Santa Sale heifer that sold for $3,300 to Carl Forgey of Missouri; and two other sons for $3,400 and $3,000. The Roxxy Cow Family Foxxy 18B is perhaps the most respected of all foundation cows. She is second to oldest, highest MPPA at 110 and is still earning her spot at age 15. We purchased Foxxy as a five year old in the last Woody Roberts cow sale. For most of her years, she has been the most impressive cow in our pastures, always having an outstanding calf. We had great respect for Woody and his cattle sense. The McIntosh 344 bull and three Roberts cows put our program exactly where we wanted it to be. 18B, 61K, 21L and 22L are among our most productive herd matrons. We are retaining her 109S bred heifer. Her 70J bull was used here and was sold to the North Central Texas College at Gainesville (one daughter, 91L, sells). She and her offspring have done a great job and have always been favorites here.

Here is a daughter of our own ABS sire, Dakota Copper 29K, and out of a Canadian-bred grandam that has produced some sale toppers for us. We only have two daughters of the maternal sire Mack 56H, but they have remained with us because of the good job they have done. This girl should work.

Her grandam is the famous Copper Las 1B cow by Rambo 502 that we admired for years. Along with her first natural calf, she was named Senior Champion Red Angus Female at the 2003 National Western Stock Show in Denver. She is what we think a great cow should be. She has great EPDs, excellent carcass traits and superior maternal value. Here is a great opportunity to own genetics from one of the top cow families in the breed. This cow does not sell at this time, but we are offering the right to flush and the opportunity to use any OHR bull on which we have semen or choose your own sire. Flush will be available soon after the sale.

Brandy came to us from Gill Red Angus in the Gills Girls II sale. She then raised a Mr. Beef bull that sold in the Red Power Sale as a two year old for $4,200 to Schroeder Brothers in South Dakota. After that, a fall bull for $3,000, then a beautiful fall heifer in the Santa Sale for $3,500 to the Vetters in Minnesota. She has been a hard-working cow and a definite bill payer. We are confident that she will be good for several more years. 68 OHRR 653 Ms Copper 38N february 8, 2003 928685 Lman King Rob 8621 Lchman Copper Rob 1204D Copper Lass 2392 OHRR Dakota Copper 29K 709597 Messmer Ophelia 9502 LCC Heaven or Bust 1000B Nodak Lady Licorice Buf Crk Chf 824-1658 Lchmn Grandcanyon 1244G KRN Reba s Robin Quail Run Pacific 704635 Quail Run Stacy Lman King Rob 8621 Quail Run Nyssa A016 EPDs -1.7 32 58 16 32 14 Pasture exposed 4-17-07 to 7-9-07 WR Mr Red Dawg 5335.
