New York Brown Swiss Association Spring/Summer 2016 Newsletter New York Brown Swiss Association Minutes Friday, January 15, 2016 The meeting was called to order at 10:30am by President Todd Hyman at the All Breeds Convention in Utica, NY with 12 members present. Reports: Treasurer: Kathy DeMay gave the Treasurer s report. As of December 31, 2015 there is $7,786.30 in the general/adult account and $3,556.89 in the Youth account. There was discussion about which account the Calf raffle money goes. It was decided that the calf raffle money would go in the general/adult account. The Youth account will be for getting the youth awards at the State Fair and will also pay for the ad for the Bellringer winners. Teri Martin and Brianne Willson are sending letters for donations for the youth this year and also working on getting awards for State Fair. Also Kathy discussed the need for 2 other people to be able to sign checks that way if she can t be there to sign checks they can still get signed. Kathy DeMay made the motion to have Katie Hill be able to sign checks for any business relating to the National Convention from the Convention account coming up in 2019 and also Todd Hyman to be able to sign checks for both the general/adult account and youth accounts. Teri Martin seconded the motion. Motion carried. It was discussed on how to cut back expenses. We talked about how useful the website actually was but the point was brought up that it would be great for the National Convention with putting information and documents for people to download on it for people across the county. The subject will be brought back up after the National Convention. Also the insurance cost was discussed. Kathy is going to check out insurance options like 1 day writers to decrease the cost of it by Spring Show. Kathy DeMay moved to not do a full page ad in the Brown Swiss Bulletin for the Bellringer winners but just do a list of the names of the winners. Jeff True seconded the motion. Motion carried. Secretary: Membership renewals are out. Jeff True made the motion to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the last meeting. Teri Martin seconded. Motion Carried. Spring Show: Spring Show is April 8-10 th. Teri Martin moved to hand out Bellringer certificates during the sale at the Spring Show in April with a Pizza Party for the Juniors. Jeff True seconded the motion. Motion carried. Need volunteers for Spring Show. Kathy DeMay is going to clerk the show but we need help with check ins and the sale. Gordy is going to be in charge of selecting the calves for the sale. We are looking for

10-15 calves. Todd will talk to Rama about maybe using his crew to take care of and get the calves ready for the sale. If it doesn t work out to get Rama to do it then he will find someone else. During the sale we are going to do a silent auction with baskets. All money from the silent auction will go to the Juniors. We are looking for a basket from each Canton and anyone else that wants to donate a basket for it. We are only going to do just a table worth. Kathy DeMay is going to contact the Thurston s for information about the Big 6 to maybe have the Central Canton there. Meeting was adjourned at 12:00pm.
