THE ROUTE The routes are interesting, attractive and challenging on some of the quiet lanes of Yorkshire taking you over the majority of the Stage 1 and Stage 2 routes of the 2014 Tour de France so you will be able to experience riding where the world s best professional cyclists will be racing only a week later. You will need to be ready for plenty of hills which will test your stamina from early in the ride. However, there are also long sections of relatively easy riding and some excellent downhill s. Some of the roads being used are single track and so care needs to be taken when on these sections as they will be being used by other local traffic, particularly horse riders in some places. Road surface conditions will vary with the possibility of potholes on some sections of road, though the actual Tour route itself has been improved and features some of the newest tarmac in the county. The scenery is stunning in the Yorkshire Dales and Pennines and this will help hopefully make the climbs all the more worthwhile and enjoyable. Let s hope the weather is kind to us on the day, but it could be changeable and riders should be prepared for that. Each day s route will be signed using event specific hi visibility signs and will have motorcycle marshals and support vehicles to assist you during the ride. 13 P a g e
