Prince Albert Raiders Game Notes RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders suffered their fourth consecutive lost, the longest stretch this season, at the hands of the Edmonton Oil Kings; falling 7-5 at the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday night. After Edmonton opened the scoring, 17-year-old forward Tim Vanstone got the Raiders on the board midway through the first. The Oil Kings potted 3 straight markers before 19-year-old winger Dakota Conroy notched a powerplay goal. Edmonton opened up the third period, but Conroy and 18-year-old forward Gage Quinney each scored to cut the lead to one. The Oil Kings regained some insurance before the lead was once again cut to a single goal by 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl. The Oil Kings held off the Raiders final push and hit the empty net to take the win. 16-year-old goaltender Nick McBride stopped 4 of 5 shots after relieving 20-year-old Cole Cheveldave, who made 18 stops on 23 shots faced. VS BLAZERS: This is the first and only meeting of the season between the Blazers and Raiders. Last season, the Raiders fell 4-1 in Kamloops, as Cole Cheveldave stopped 28 of 29 shots for the Blazers to pick up the win. Over the last 5seasons, the teams have an even 2-2- 0-0 head-to-head record. 50 IN 32: 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl became the 6 th player in the WHL to hit 50 points this season, on 18 goals and 32 assists, in just his 32 nd game of the campaign. SWITCHING SIDES: This will be the first game for 20-year-old netminder Cole Cheveldave to face his former team after being acquired by the Raiders in July. He appeared in 111 games for the Blazers in the past two seasons, as well as 20 playoff appearances. SEVENTH HEAVEN: Two Prince Albert Raiders are on current 7-game point streaks, including 19-year-old forward Dakota Conroy, 9 goals and 6 assists, and 18-year-old centre Leon Draisaitl, 8 goals and 11 assists. They are tied for the second longest current point streaks in the WHL. The longest streak of the season by a Raider is 9, held by Josh Morrissey. GONE CAMPING: Raiders captain, 18-year-old defenceman, Josh Morrissey is currently attending Team Canada s World Junior Selection camp. CLASHING WITH CANADA: 18-year-old German Leon Draisaitl will represent his home country for the second time at the World Junior Championships, beginning on Boxing Day against Canada. This will be his final game before departing for Germany s pre-tournament training camp. SWEET SIXTEEN: The Raiders three 16-year-olds, defenceman Brendan Guhle, goaltender Nick McBride and forward Matteo Gennaro, have all been selected to represent Team Pacific at the upcoming World Under-17 Challenge in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. MILESTONES: 20-year-old defenceman Dylan Busenius is 4 points from 100 in his WHL career. 19-year-old centre Jayden Hart is 2 games away from 150 in the league, while fellow 19-year-old Carson Perreaux is 4 games from the same mark.. 19-year-old winger Dakota Conroy needs 3 goals to reach his 50 th. UPCOMING GAMES: The Raiders continue their 4-game stint at the Art Hauser Centre with a visit from the Kelowna Rockets on Sunday followed by the Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday the 17 th to close out the pre-christmas portion of the schedule. They return to host the Saskatoon Blades on December 27 th, followed by a trip down the road to Saskatoon on the 28 th.

Kamloops Blazers Game Notes ROAD HEAVY SCHEDULE: The Kamloops Blazers are into their 33 rd season in the Western Hockey League and the 30 th season as the Kamloops Blazer The Blazers have a 7-21-2-2 record and won their last game ending a streak of games where the Blazers went 0-11-1-1. The hockey club is into their ro heavy part of their schedule. The Blazers are in a stretch of playing seven straight games on the road and 12 of 13 on the road between December 8 th an January 10 th. The Blazers are on their bi-annual six-game road trip through Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Blazers are 1-1-0-0 on their trip with a 5- loss in Brandon on Tuesday and a 4-3 shootout win in Regina. The Blazers will play tonight in Prince Albert, Saskatoon tomorrow night and Moose Jaw Sunday. The Blazers will finish their road trip in Swift Current on Tuesday, December 17 th. THE MATCH UP: The Blazers and Raiders will meet only once this season. Last year, the Blazers hosted the Raiders back on January 25, 2013 and beat the Raiders 4-1 in front of a sellout crowd. The last time the Blazers were in Prince Albert was two years ago to the day back on December 13, 2011 with the Blazers losing 5-2 to the Raiders. KAMLOOPS BLAZERS Who to Watch : The Kamloops Blazers forwards have had three forwards that have led the way offensively this season. Cole Ully (12+20=32), Matt Needham (7+17=24) and Chase Souto (16+6=22) are guys entering their third and fourth seasons that are the offensive leaders. The 18-year-old Ully posted 22 goals and 50 points last season which got him drafted in the 5 th round by the Dallas Stars. Needham is the team captain at only 18, and Chase Souto is the longest tenured Blazer playing his 200 th game November 23 rd. Tyson Ness (7+5=12) also joins that group of players expected to score for the Blazers after being acquired from Red Deer prior to the start of the season. The 20-year-old plays in all situations for the hockey club. Aspen Sterzer (12+10=22) has emerged offensively already reaching career highs in all offensive categories. Collin Shirley (3+4=7) was acquired in the Tim Bozon trade and will have plenty of opportunity to play with good players and succeed. Joe Kornelsen, (2+3=5), Luke Harrison (3+0=3), and Carson Bolduc (2+1=3) make up the supporting cast for the Blazers and will need to contribute more. There is plenty of opportunity for the young forwards on the Blazers roster as Jesse Shynkaruk, (1+0=1) Eric Krienke, (2+0=2) Nathan Looysen (0+1=1) and Mitch Lipon (1+4=5) are all 17-year-olds looking to prove themselves. Nick Chyzowski (2+4=6) is the lone 16-year-old on the roster and has also earned additional ice time contributing already. On defence, the Blazers have some young players who will need to take on a bigger role this year. Sam Grist (1+4=5) is the oldest defenseman on the roster and has shown he is capable of leading a young group. Returnees Ryan Rehill (0+5=5) and Josh Connolly (6+19=25) have done nothing but impress in their respective roles. Connolly has had a great start to the season reaching career highs in all offensive categories. Rehill has been able to shut down the opponents top players. Matt Thomas (0+1=1) is the newest addition to the group. At 18, he is a defensive minded defenseman. A trio of 17-year-olds are all looking to establish themselves this season. Jordan Thomson (0+7=7) will be in the line-up every night and will need to play in all situations. Edson Harlacher (0+1=1) was selected by the Blazers in the import draft and he has shown he has the tools to be a solid defender. Connor Clouston (0+1=1) spent some time with the Blazers last year. In goal, the Blazers have two 19-year-old options in returnee Taran Kozun (2-13-2-0, 3.89,.898) and acquired veteran Bolton Pouliot (5-7-0-1, 3.57,.899). Pouliot is currently out with an injury so 16-year-old Cole Kehler is with the Blazers backing up Kozun for the time being. NHL DRAFT: Cole Ully (Dallas, 5 th round, 131 st overall in 2013). INJURY REPORT: Bolton Pouliot, Upper Body, 4-6 weeks, Joe Kornelsen, Upper Body, 1 week. Man games lost due to injury 16.
