Munster Junior Chess Championships, 0 These Annual Championships were held in the Absolute Hotel, Sir Harry's Mall, Limerick on the weekend of 8-9 January. Age bands advertised were u8, u0, u,, u6, u8. In a new step, Girl Champion titles were introduced for u,, u6, and u8 wih supporting Shields. There were no entries for the u8 section, and no girls entered u6. Overall, up to 80 players took part. This year's committee consisted of Stephen Danaher, John Cassidy and John Alfred, who acted as Tournament controller. The Absolute Hotel, Limerick The Trophy Table
Under 8 Section under-8 players turned up on the Sunday and this could have been the biggest turnout for u-8s since the tournament began in the early 000's. Steve Danaher ran this section with help from Olive Weeks and other parents, and an All-play-All was played over four hours with 0 minutes on each clock Six year-old Bryan Chan from Cork won all his 0 games making him the Munster under-8 Champion for 0. A 'dozen less ' under-8 competitors Under 0 section Two Girls. Megan Chan from Cork and Victoria Fennell from Clare, dominated this section and in the end they had to have a Blitz play-off to decide the winner. Megan came first, with Victoria second, and Joshua Cesar from Shannon was third. The Girls prize went to Martha Brasil-Carroll from Kilfinane.
