Bunker Rectification Masterplan The below master plan for the rectification of bunkers at Links Shell Cove came about after the major east coast low in early 2015 destroyed the cloth lining in the majority of the bunkers on course. Since this time greens maintenance staff have attempted to get as many bunkers to be regularly in play as possible, however some bunkers on the course have remained out of play since the storm event in 2015. A budget has been set for the project thus the bunkers have had to be prioritised. The below rectification plan has been developed in close consultation with Ben Chambers and Darby Muller from Golf shapes along with course superintendent Shane George. The below is to act as a guide for members, actual design elements and timeline is subject to change. Golf play during bunker rectification The bunker rectification plan has been staged as to accommodate minimal disruption to play as possible. During midweek play hole 7A will be used as a substitute for the hole undergoing bunker work. (Golfers will play the current 7 th Hole and then proceed to play Hole 7A (old 9 th tee to the old 1 st green) and then proceed to the 8 th tees.) Competition players will simply mark there score for Hole 7A on the hole that is out of play. For weekend play the normal 18 holes will be in play, the bunker work zones will be GUR. Unless extreme weather conditions exist and slow work up golf shapes will not be on site for weekend play.

Summary of Works Date Descriptions of works Comments Jan 2016 through May 2016 - Right green side bunker on Hole 15 to be slightly reshaped and re lined with Kustom Bind. - Right side fwy bunker on Hole 8 to be made smaller (on fwy side) and relined with Kustom Bind. August 2016 weeks 3 and 4 (approximately 12 days on site) October 2016 (approximately 6 days on site.) November 2016 (Approximately 6 days on Site) - 3 Green side bunkers on Hole 14 re lined with Kustom Bind. - Green side bunker on hole 9. Budget Pending - Practice green bunker relined with Kustom Bind. - Hole 8 right side green bunker relocated to protect front of green. - Hole 11 right side green bunker.

1 st Hole This hole currently has 1 fairway bunker at approximately 200m from the green, an approach bunker at approximately 40 yards and 2 green side bunkers one on either side. The fairway and approach bunker will be left as is. The left green side bunker will be relined with Kustom Bind. A new approach bunker will be added in the middle of the fairway diagonally closer to the green than the current approach bunker. The current right greenside bunker will be removed and this area is to be reshaped with a distinct spine that will either take shots onto or away from the green. The new approach bunker has been designed to add a different element to the opening hole, in effect making the opening hole play as a true 3 shot hole. Players will have the choice to lay up short of this approach bunker leaving a shot of 70+ yards or take it on in an attempt to hit the green in 2. The cart path will also be re routed to go behind the current and new approach bunkers and link with the current path to the right of the green. A possible variation to this work is to use the left over material from reshaping the right greenside bunker to build a new tee for hole 8 (making the hole approximately 20 meters longer) Work on the 1 st Hole bunkering will coincide with the building of retention ponds for storm water collection for the new residential development. A site for the retention ponds has been identified as the low ground between the 1 st and 2 nd greens, therefore any bunker works on these two holes will wait until the exact location of the retention ponds has been identified. Location of new approach bunker

Left greenside 1 st Hole Right greenside bunker hole 1

2 nd Hole This hole has 2 bunkers, one on the right side of the green and one at the back of the green. The bunker on the back of the green is in adequate state and gets minimal play, therefore it will remain as is. The bunker on the right of the green will be re lined with Kustom Bind, this bunker will also have drainage fixed. A new potty style bunker will be built left of the green to protect the back left hole location, this bunker will come into play from the left tee box and also from the new back tee to be built. Work on 2 nd Hole bunkers will commence after exact location of retention ponds is determined. Right side bunker on hole 2 Potential location for new small pot bunker hole 2

3 rd and 4 th Holes No scheduled work for these holes 5th Hole This hole currently has 2 bunkers in their original circle shape, one on the right and one on the left of the green. The left green side bunker is to be filled in, with the softening of the mound behind it, this area is to be looked at as the bail out area. New bunker to be built in line with the middle of the green, with the back edge to be approximately 15-20 steps from front edge of green. We are going for the sand-belt par 3 feel, from tee to the new bunker will be planted out to give that wasteland feel. Left greenside bunker Hole 5

Right green side bunker Hole 5 Location for new bunker Hole 5

6 th Hole This hole currently has 5 bunkers The 2 bunkers towards the back of the green will be relined with Kustom bind. The two bunkers at the front will be combined to make one bunker and relined with Kustom bind. The green side left bunker will be removed and the dam to the left will be made larger, extending closer to the green to provide a more challenging shot towards the back left hole location. The removed earth is to be used adjacent to the back left of this green to enlarge the back tee for the 2 nd Hole. back right bunker on hole 6

2 front bunkers on hole 6 to be combine

Hole 7 No Bunker work for Hole 7. Hole 8 This hole currently has a fairway bunker on the right side and one green side bunker on the right hand side. A new fairway bunker is currently under construction in the landing area for the new par 5. The current fairway bunker is being modified under the current construction contract. The current green side bunker on the right is to be removed and replaced with a new bunker in the front middle of the green, this bunker is intended to capture those players going for the green in two shots and should pose a significant penalty for those players that enter it. 9th Hole Current greenside bunker hole 8 This hole has one green side bunker located on the front right of the green, this bunker will be relined with Kustom bind. The left wall of this bunker is quite steep and thus there will be minor reshaping work performed.

Hole 10 This hole has a redundant bunker located on the back left of the green and is to be removed, currently this bunker cannot be seen from the fairway, thus hazards that cannot be seen are to be eliminated if they serve no other purpose. A pit will have to be added to the back side of the current mounding. Bunker back left of the 10 th green to be removed 11th Hole This hole has a single bunker located on the right hand side and this bunker performs adequately in wet weather, therefore is currently not on this schedule of works, however if budgetary allocation is not used this can be re-assed.

12th Hole This hole has 4 bunkers one on each side of the fairway and one on each side of the green. The left side fairway bunker will be relined with Kustom bind. The right side fwy bunker is problematic from a shaping perspective, therefore where and how this bunker fits into this schedule is yet to be determined. The right side green side bunker is to be split into 2 separate bunkers and relined with Kustom bind. The left green side bunker is to be removed and this area reshaped and cut as surrounds, this will provide a bail out area for shorter hitters, however will be no easy up and down. Once shapers are on site we are also looking at expanding the front of the green surface to increase pin locations on the front left of this green. (Turf from the old 9 th green can be used here) Left fwy bunker Hole 12

Right fwy bunker Hole 12. Right green side bunker

13th Hole No planned bunker work on this hole 14th Hole This hole has 3 bunkers surrounding the green all bunkers will be relined with Kustom bind. The left bunker will also need some minor reshaping. 14 th hole right greenside bunker

14 th hole middle bunker 14 th hole left bunker

15th Hole The right greenside bunker has been relined with Kustom bind. The new approach bunker has been built with Kustom bind. A new green side left bunker has been planned to protect the left side of the green and gather long hitters tee shots. 16th Hole This hole has 2 bunkers one on the left side of the fairway and one on the right. The left side fwy bunker currently performs adequately and will remain as is. The right side fwy bunker will be remodeled and made a lot smaller approximately 70 sq. meters. This will set the player up with options from the tee, play safe to the right of the fairway bunker, or play to the left of the fairway bunker leaving a shorter shot in. Hole 16 right side fwy bunker

17th Hole After much deliberation it was decided that extensive funds could be spent on fixing the two bunkers on this hole, however we would still be left with a very bad golf hole. Architect and shapers from Golf shapes suggested simply leaving this hole as is and placing fixing this hole in a longer term master plan. It is deemed that you would need to start again with this hole and advice sought from industry shaping professionals. 18th Hole This hole has two bunkers one behind the green on the left, the other in the front right of the green. The bunker behind the green looks and performs well and will be left as is. The bunker to the right of the green is also shaped well, however this bunker will be relined with Kustom Bind. Hole 18 right side green bunker

Practice facility The old 1 st Hole and green will become the facilities practice short game area. The bunker to the left of this green will be relined with Kustom bind. This bunker will only be completed once others on the course have been rectified. Short game practice facility
