Happy November 4-H Land! From Jeramy I don t know about you but I m already stoked about some turkey in my belly! 4-H Council Meeting The next 4-H Council meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 3, the time & location will be announced. This meeting will include discussions on activities for the 2018 year! All 4-H members are welcome to attend and contribute! Things are pretty quiet in 4-H Land and I ll bet you re enjoying that. We kind of are too. It s a great time for us to reflect and prepare for all the wonderful events that the next year has in store for us. We are very excited about the upcoming year and hope to make it as great, if not better, than last year. During this down time, I want to encourage you to keep trying to recruit more members into our family. You know as well as I do that 4-H is a tremendous organization and we all benefit from it. So when talking to someone about joining, find out what their interests are and let them know what opportunities are available based upon their passions. Remember there is the selfdetermined project in which they can enroll if you can t find a project that interests them. Also, if you didn t see it on Facebook, there is a $50 award to the 4-Her that can recruit the most new members! I want to encourage you to get enrolled early as well. It s easy peasy with 4honline and you can get started, if you wish, on your projects during your holiday breaks. There really is no rule that says you have to wait until summer to do projects. What would be better than to work on a quilt or some leatherwork by the fire! This will free up some of your time in the summer to just be a kid once school gets out. Prairie Queen Club Meetings Enrollment Time 2018! It s that time again, everyone must enroll every year using the website https://co.4honline.com. Things to remember: If you don t remember your password, please call the Extension office, we can fix that! Do NOT create another account, call us please.. Review your 4honline profile carefully, incorrect information will create problems. Please note that members will be paying some of their own enrollment fees this year. Check with your Club Leader for details. Every member must complete the Completion Requirement Agreement form. Deadline: March 1st, 2018 is enrollment d-day! Project add/drop deadline is April 16, 2018. Changes for 2018: Remember Jeramy s Facebook challenge: there is a $50 award to the 4-Her that recruits the most new members! Talk it up! There are new project books for some projects, please check with us. Also there is a new Horse Rule Book for our horse riders! You can find a huge amount of information on the 4-H project website, check it out! http://www.colorado4h.org/project_resources/ The Prairie Queen Club will meet at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 19th at the Community Building. There will be a New Officer Induction Ceremony at the December meeting - location and date to be determined.

My name is Megan Seltzer and I am so excited to join the Prowers County and Southeast Area family. I just wanted to give everyone a little background on myself. I grew up in Northern, Colorado where my family raises purebred Boer goats and runs a small commercial cattle herd. Through my younger years, I was highly active in 4-H and FFA. I showed livestock and horses, competed in public speaking and judging events, and tried my hand at a variety of consumer science projects. I attended Colorado State University where I received my Bachelor s in Agriculture Education with a minor in Agriculture Business. In addition, I have a love for reading, photography, and animals of all kinds. I am also engaged to and we will be married in September of next year. I am ecstatic to be a part of this awesome program and amazing communities. 4-H Enrollment Again for 2017/2018 year we will be using the 4-H Online program to enroll members. 4-H Online is a secure database that has been in use for quite a few years now in Colorado. Families will need to login to the 4-H Online site and complete the enrollment process. All counties will be providing very specific instructions, but don t hesitate to ask for help. Also, if you do not have access to a computer or would like to have our help we can schedule a time to help you enroll at your Extension office. Members and volunteer leaders need to complete all parts of the online enrollment process, including adding online signatures for: Animal Care and Housing Form (if applicable) Permission to Participate Photo Denial (only check & sign if you don t want to allow photos) Code of Conduct Health Form. You will not have to print anything off UNLESS you are not housing your animals at your home in which case you will need to download and fill out the animal housing form and return to the Extension Office by the enrollment deadline. Counties may have county specific forms that you still must sign and turn in. To complete your enrollment, you must pay club fees as set by your county following the county process. Enrollment deadline is February 1 in Cheyenne County, March 1 in Baca, Bent, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero and Prowers Counties. The Colorado State University 4-H Office has put together some excellent resources on 4-H Online. The link to these resources is https://www.colorado4h.org/ye/. Catch-a-Calf Contest Applications are currently being accepted for the 2018 National Western Stock Show Catch-a-Calf Program. The program is open to any 4-H member that is 12 and older by December 31st, 2017. Youth that sign up for the program will compete at a 2018 NWSS rodeo performance to catch a calf. Those that are successful will receive a calf in May 2018. They are responsible for all care and must purchase their own feed and equipment. The deadline to apply is December 1st, 2017. More information and an application can be found online at http://www.nationalwestern.com/livestock-shows/catch-a-calf-contest/. Daniels Fund The Daniels Fund is excited to announce that the online application for the Daniels Scholarship Program will be open from September 30 to November 30, 2017 at 4:00 PM MST. Comprehensive information about the Daniels Scholarship Program including eligibility requirements, selection criteria, selection timeline, and how to apply can also be found on their website http://www.danielsfund.org/scholarships/scholars/index.asp. District VI Shooting Sports Contest Mark your calendars for the 2nd annual District VI 4-H Shooting Sports Contest. It will be Saturday, June 9th, 2018 at the La Junta Rifle Club. 4H Online Email Blasts From time to time the State office will be sending emails directly to the 4-H members. It is the easiest and most effective way to communicate important State events and requirements. We know that not everyone particularly enjoys the extra emails and there have been requests to be unsubscribed. It is important to know that if you do that, you would not receive any re-enrollment emails or information the County office sends directly to you. Please do not unsubscribe.
