GENERL DESRIPTION Kameleon is a thermally broken glazed natural ventilator, available in a variety of configurations to suit the projects requirements. Kameleon s principal components are manufactured from aluminium extrusions to S 1474 Grade 6063. DIMENSIONS Width options are available in 1mm increments from: 0900 900mm body width, to 2000 2000mm body width. Height options, also available in 1mm increments, range from: 0965 965mm body height, to mm body height. ONTROLS Kameleon incorporates the latest OPV (intelligent electronic control system). The electronic control unit, designed and tested to EN 60950 to comply with the Low Voltage Directive, is housed with the battery pack assembly (two 12V 6h lead acid batteries wired in series to provide a 24V power supply) in an extruded aluminium box secured to the bottom frame of the ventilator. The ventilator is operated by two electrically powered 24V linear actuators and is locked in the closed position by two mechanical latches. The actuators are housed in mounting brackets fitted to the side frames of the ventilator. GLZING There are four standard glazing options: 16 16mm polycarbonate. 24 24mm double-glazed unit. 28 28mm double-glazed unit. 32 32mm double-glazed unit. TTERY LIFE atteries in glazed ventilators encounter very high temperatures, which reduces life span. In normal conditions battery life is predicted to be up to 5 years dependent on system usage. Tests have shown that even in hot climates, a minimum battery life of 3 years can be expected. dvance warning of the need to replace batteries will be displayed at the OPV control panel. FINISHES Kameleon is available with the option of a stoved polyester powder paint finish applied to the principal components. INSTLLTION ND OPENING The ventilator is designed for installation at an angle of between 15 O to 90 O to the horizontal plane. The ventilator opens to an angle of approximately 55 O. See page 6. ESSORIES luminium covers are available to conceal the actuators in the closed position.
SMOKE ONTROL s part of a building s smoke control system, Kameleon ventilators will protect the building structure, occupants and contents from the worst effects of heat and smoke. Kameleon successfully completed an accelerated cycle test of 2,000 operations (open and close) and a fire test in accordance with S 7346: Part 1: 1990: lause 4.9. Kameleon successfully completed an accelerated life cycle test in excess of 10,000 operations (open and close) in accordance with Pr EN 12101-2 (2003). ENVIRONMENTL ONTROL Kameleon significantly improves the natural levels of daylight, at the same time providing the answer to overheating problems by releasing radiant and convective heat from the building. RIN DEFENE Kameleon has been tested to S 5368: Parts 1&2:1994: (EN42 & 86 ISO6613) up to 1000 Pa air pressure. ir Permeability lassification achieved was lass to S 6375: Part 1: 1989. TEMPERTURE Kameleon operates from -20 o to +70 o. SNOW ND IE Kameleon is unaffected by the presence of frost and ice and opens successfully with a simulated snow load of 300N/m 2, tested in accordance with S 7346: Part 1: 1990: lause 5.5. WIND RESISTNE Kameleon successfully opened and remained open in an 18m/s side wind, Force 8 on the eaufort Scale, tested in accordance with S 7346: Part 1: 1990: lause 5.6. It withstands wind pressures up to 2.4kN/m 2, tested in accordance with S 7346: Part 1: 1990 lause 5.4. MINTENNE Kameleon has low maintenance needs - only a simple annual service is recommended. When installed as part of a smoke control system, Kameleon should be serviced at least once a year and tested weekly, as recommended by S 7346.
