DESCRIPTIONS OF CURRENTLY SCHEDULED NRA COURSES NRA Range Safety Officer Course Pre-Requisites: None Objective: To develop NRA Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. Description: This course is nine hours long and is conducted by an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO) in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn 1. Roles and responsibilities of an RSO 2. Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 3. Range inspection 4. Range rules 5. Range briefings 6. Emergency procedures 7. Firearm stoppages and malfunctions Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, an Instructor Application/Course Evaluation form.
