Start rounding up your Greenhorns, Youngbucks and Oldtimers. Repair your tents, clothing, or whatever else needs a shining. Pack your horses and mosey on down to the Jim Bowie Chapter of the Louisiana Territory. October 19-22 is the date. The event location Twin Lakes Camp, Woodworth, LA. Personally I am looking forward to the fellowship of my lifelong Christian brothers, meeting all the new FCF members, getting to share some sage spiritual advice with ya ll, and listening to the wisdom of our National Scout during devotions. Speaking of National Scout, please take the time to train up your Young Bucks (Chapter Scouts and Assistant Scouts) for Scout testing. It is always a shining times watching the best of the Rivermen Territories Young Bucks compete. I encourage all current FCF members from the Five Chapters to make an effort to plan and attend this year s event. 200 attendees sounds like such a beautiful number. Can I get an amen? 2017 Rivermen Territorial Rendezvous Events Scout Evaluation and Selection An event will be held to determine who will be the next National Scout representing the Rivermen Territory and the Territorial Scout to serve the territory for a two year term. All Chapter Scouts and Assistant Chapter Scouts are eligible to compete, however they must be under 18 at the time of the testing. The competition will include testing on hawk/knife throwing, black powder shooting, archery, fire starting, outfits, RR achievement and FCF achievement, in addition to a vote by the membership of the Territory. The winner of the competition will be named National Scout and the first runner up will be named the Rivermen Territorial Scout. Scouts who wish to participate must submit the scout application and the nomination form found on the National FCF website to the Territorial Representative before September 22, 2017 in order to participate in the scout selection process. Classic Frontier Skill Events Timeless events that never get old. Show everyone in the Territory how good you are. Events for Young Bucks and Old Timers include: Tomahawk throw Chapter Determined Knife throw Chapter Determined Black Powder Shooting Scored Course of fire Flint and Steel - Fastest time to flame Horn Blowing - Longest time blowing Archery Chapter Determined Outfit Judging - Highest score for all categories, outfit judging forms can be found at www.nationalfcf.com Trail Walk An age-old timed trail walk testing the ability the best frontiersmen. Events will include different spins on the timeless Frontier standards - shooting, throwing, fire starting, etc. Expect some surprises. Young Buck Stump Preaching Young bucks will get a chance to speak about what the Lord has laid on their heart. Guidelines will follow the Fine Arts competition evaluation guidelines. Details on can be found on the Gulf Region RR website at: www.gulfregionrr.org. Cooking Competition How can this be a competition - everybody wins, especially the judges. Competitors will cook up their finest meals including a meat, side item, bread, and dessert. Meals will be graded on authenticity, presentation, and taste. The FCF er with the best presentation in taste and looks will walk away with some nice prizes. To be held Saturday afternoon. Chapter Seneca Run Prepare to show how good you are at each frontier skill! Each Chapter can enter two teams of an Old Timer and a Young Buck. Speed, skill, and accuracy will count! The winning chapter will get to take the Rivermen Traveling trophy home! Candle Shoot This will be your chance to show off how good a shot you are. Shooters will be given the chance to shoot the lights out on this event. Each shooter will be given three shots to shoot out the flame of a candle. Range rules will apply, spectators welcome. Shooters bring three - six inch taper candles to the range for entry. Frontier Classes Spend some time learning valuable frontier skills from some of the Territories knowledgeable old timers. Gain insight into blacksmithing, period trekking, leather craft, beadwork, and more!

Wilderness Vigil Now is the time to advance! There will be a Wilderness Vigil held on Thursday, October 19, 2017. If you are a Buckskin member and have not advanced to Wilderness, this is your opportunity. In order to participate in this Vigil, you should submit your Wilderness application to the Territorial Rep no later than July 14, 2017 to allow for time to prepare and carry the Wilderness pouch for the 90 day period. Territorial Potluck Come and sample some the finest vittles ever made. Enjoy the fellowship and friendship of the Rivermen as we share together the last meal of the Rendezvous. Bring your finest fare and a chair. Mission Auction To Give and Serve - support the Territorial Missions Project by bidding on some very nice frontier items. Many items available in the auction will have been made by Wilderness members from throughout the Territory. Young Buck Trading Circle A lantern-lit event to be held after the evening service on Thursday. Trade for some of those much needed provisions -hats, beads, patches, knives and such. This is an event for Young Bucks only! Young Bucks, be sure to bring trade items to trade with! Frontier Vendors Vendors are more than welcome to setup at the Rendezvous site and sell their wares. Many new FCF members will need to enhance their outfits and persona with goods from quality vendors. The Old Timers like the goods too. Outstanding Chapter Award A new competition for everyone to get involved in. Each FCF Chapter will be evaluated throughout the rendezvous for things like, total membership present number of Young Bucks present, events won by members of your chapter. The chapter who wins will not complain! Guidelines are available at www.gulfregionrr.org

2017 Rivermen Territorial Rendezvous Notes Those attending Rendezvous must be active FCF members Participants should strive to be in FCF attire soon after arrival and for the duration of the Rendezvous. No hand guns are permitted at Royal Ranger events. No loaded firearms are allowed in camp (this includes percussion caps). There are to be no modern shelters in the area designated as primitive. Lighting is to be period as well. If you must have Coleman or electric lights these are to remain inside your shelter. All modern items, such as water containers and coolers, should be covered. This will make photography much more authentic in appearance. Your fires are your responsibility. Keep them under control and attended at all times Make sure they are completely out before leaving your camp. First aid will be available at the registration tent at the Territorial Headquarters. Campers are responsible for all their actions. Remember the Ranger Code! Schedules, news, and notices will be posted at the registration area. Absolutely no dogs or pets allowed in camp (unless they are to be prepared for a meal). : ) Commanders are responsible for the safety and well-being of boys in their care. Be aware of where and what they are doing. All persons must register before being allowed to set up camp. Registered campers should wear the event medallion whenever possible. Quiet time is the hours of 11 pm to daylight. Please be kind to those around you. All vehicles will come in on the service road, unload, and then be driven back to parking lot. After camp is over and you have packed, have your camp completely ready to load prior to bringing in your vehicle, quickly load and take vehicle back to the parking lot. Shooting will be supervised by an official NRA/NMLRA range master. Bring your shooter's card. All persons shooting a black powder firearms must have an approved black powder card to present to the range officers. This may be the FCF shooters card, NRA Certification card, NRA Instructors Credentials (Black Powder), or NMLRA Certification card. All shooters must have their firearm checked by a range officer prior to shooting. All garbage and trash will be hauled away; we will clean the entire camp. All persons under 18 at the time of the rendezvous must have the "permission slip" signed by parent or guardian authorizing them to shoot and handle a firearm - Black Powder/Knife Permission Slip. Visitors are only allowed in camp from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and 9:00 am through the evening service on Saturday. Event registered campers are responsible for all their visitors on the Territorial site during the visiting hours. Please abide by these rules.

2017 Rivermen Territorial Rendezvous Event Rules and Guidelines Tomahawk Throw Only one-bladed tomahawks may be used. In the event of a broken handle or hawk, the contestant is permitted to return and complete his throws after repairs or replacement. However, he must start with his last throw (he cannot start all over again). Minimum throwing distance is one revolution of the hawk. Hawk must hit and stick to target to qualify. Event scoring to be determined by the Chapter running the event. Event for Old Timer and Young Bucks Knife Throw Only one-bladed knife may be used and must be thrown by the handle. In the event of a broken handle, the contestant is permitted to return and complete his throws after repairs or replacement. However, he must start with his last throw (he cannot start all over again). Minimum throwing distance is one revolution of the knife, but in no case less than 10 feet. Knife must hit and stick to target to qualify. Event scoring to be determined by the Chapter running the event. Event for Old Timer and Young Bucks Flint and Steel Each contestant must furnish his own flint & steel, charred cloth or charred punky wood Tinder/Birds nest must be gathered from the rendezvous site (gathered by the contestant). Contestant must set the tinder aflame to qualify. Black Powder grains MAY NOT be used on the charred cloth. Fastest time to flame wins- Old Timer and Young Buck Outfit Judging Download your preferred outfit category from www.nationalfcf.com or fill out a form at registration Score only those items that you personally own. Borrowed items cannot be used. Present yourself in outfit wearing all items you have scored yourself on. Items not presented to the judge cannot be scored. All categories (Colonial, Longhunter, Mountainman, etc.) will be scored together. The highest overall score wins for Old Timer and Young Bucks. Rifle Shoot/ Candle Shoot ONLY flintlock or percussion muzzle loading single shot rifles may be used. Cap and ball revolvers may not be used. All shooters must produce a shooters card and present it to the Range Officer to be permitted to shoot. NO EXCEPTIONS. Competitors must know their equipment and how to use it properly. All equipment should be working properly before entering the match. It is mandatory, to wear safety or shooting glasses and hearing protection- NO EXCEPTIONS. Only metallic open sights may be used. NO telescopic or peep sights may be used. Black Powder or Pyrodex ONLY may be used. No Modern Smokeless Powder Competitors should have their own cleaning and repair equipment. The Range Officer is in complete charge of any FCF shoot or match. The Range Officer MUST be obeyed promptly. The Range Officer may disqualify any competitor or order his expulsion from the firing range for any violation of safety or misconduct. No shooting will be done at any time without the Range Officer being on the firing line and in full charge of the shooting.

Horn Blowing This is a timed contest. The contestant that can blow the horn the longest will win. No modern mouth piece may be used. Event for Old Timers and Young Bucks Archery Only recurve or long bows may be used. Handmade bows may be used after examined by the range officer for safety. Absolutely no compound boys may be used. Only arrows with field points and all fletching securely attached may be used. No broadhead arrows are allowed. Only hand release, no release devices may be used Event scoring to be determined by the Chapter running the event. Event for Old Timers and Young Bucks Stump Preaching Young Bucks will be given the opportunity to speak about what the Lord has laid on their heart. Competition guidelines can be found at www.gulfregionrr.org The subject of the presentation must be the camp theme- So One Man Sharpens Another, Proverbs 27:17 Young Bucks Only event Cooking Competition Contestants will create and cook a complete meal consisting of a main dish, side dish, bread, and dessert. The entire meal must be cooked on flame or coals- No propane or gas stoves or ovens. The meal will be evaluated during the Territorial Potluck on Saturday evening. Trail Walk Teams of one Old timer and one Young Buck will complete a series of trail events that will have a new twist on old events. Each team will compete for points on fastest time, and points scored for each event. The team with the highest score wins. Chapter Seneca Run The chapter Seneca Run will incorporate all of the traditional events into one. Each Chapter may have two teams consisting of an 2 Old Timer s and 2 Young Buck s (or 1 OT & 3 YB s) Teams will be scored separately. The Chapter that has the highest score will win the Territorial Trophy (Buffalo Skull)
