Riders must be 15 years or over on 1 st January. Horses should be ridden in a snaffle, pelham or simple double bridle. Horses should be plaited. The first three go forward to the championship at the Hickstead Derby Meeting in June 2017. All entries MUST be registered with the ROR and include their registration number on entry form and have raced in GB. All those entering horses and/or participating in the show agree to be bound by the Retraining of Racehorses Rules and Regulations from time to time in force. Horses will be ridden by the judge. Please be aware that the show will split the class on the horse s last run in a race (NH or Flat) or will provide 2 ride judges should the entries exceed 20. Please mark your entry form accordingly. MAIN RING SIX BAR JUMPING Judges: Mrs G Walker, Mrs J Down & Helen Barber Course builder: Mr Matthew Hoskins The course for this knock-out competition comprises six vertical obstacles placed in a straight line, with two non-jumping strides between each obstacle. The competition is judged under Table A, not against the clock, with a time limit of 2min. In the event of disobedience the competitor must restart the course at the obstacle where the error occurred, but may make his/her approach from an angle from outside the space between the obstacles and is not required or allowed to take any of the previous obstacles again. If an obstacle is disturbed as a result of disobedience the procedure in Rule 251.4 must be applied, but no time penalty is incurred. In the event of equality of faults for first place, there will be up to four successive jump offs, not against the clock. The first jump off must be over all six obstacles, but the course may be reduced progressively for each further jump off to a minimum of three obstacles by removing in succession the first, second and third obstacles. The judge at his/her discretion may terminate the competition after the third jump off. In the event of equality of faults, in the final jump off competitors are placed equal and divide the prize-money. Competitors who withdraw from or retire during a jump off are placed equal with those who are eliminated in the same jump off (Rules 203/204). Ponies not allowed. Open to affiliated and nonaffiliated competitors. RULES NPS Silver Medal Championship Conditions. These Championships are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosette Championships: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. NPS Silver Medal Rosettes are only awarded when the owner of the champion pony is a Qualifying or Life member of the NPS. A valid membership card must be in the rider s/handler s possession on entering the ring and be produced immediately on request by either the judge or the steward. If the owner of the Champion pony is not a member, or the owner s membership card is not immediately produced, the rosette may be awarded to the Reserve Champion provided they have the required membership card. If the Champion pony has previously qualified it is still entitled to the Silver Medal Rosette but the qualification card goes to the Reserve Champion pony, provided the owner of that pony is a member of the NPS. The Silver Medal Rosette and the qualification card can be awarded no lower than first Reserve (third). Foals are not eligible for Silver Medal Championships. Qualifiers are entitled to compete in the final of the Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be held at the NPS Summer Championship Show in August 2017 NPS Mountain and Moorland Qualifying Rounds These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members are eligible to qualify for the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show, August 2017. RULES AND BYLAWS 1. PRIZE AWARDS. In classes with only one entry, the Committee reserves the right to award 2nd Prize money only, if in the opinion of the Judge the entry is of insufficient merit to justify 1st Prize. No 2nd Prize will be awarded in any class in which there are less than 3 entries or 3rd unless there are at least four entries. No 4th Prize will be awarded unless the entries exceed 10. Any horse may be exhibited in more than one class except where stated. The Society will award Rosettes up to 6th place at the discretion of the section Secretary. 2. The Show Jumping classes will run in accordance to Rule 76.6 in the British Show Jumping Rule Book. 3. Each Exhibitor will receive from the designated Secretary a printed number, without which no horse will be admitted. ALL competitors must display the correct number for each particular Class. 4. The Show is affiliated to the British Show Jumping Association, South West Pony Association, British Driving Society, CHAPS, Veteran Society & the National Pony Society and all relevant classes will be run under the rules of these Associations. 5. No member shall show a stallion for which he/she is responsible as owner, lessee, authorised agent or rider to compete or be prepared to compete, in any show jumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other members of the public are not put at risk of injury. British Show Jumping Rule 21. 6. Show Jumping classes are restricted to Horses and Ponies, Registered with the British Show Jumping and ridden by Members in accordance with British Show Jumping Rule 79 except non-members who have purchased a ticket to ride from the Secretary. 7. The Society operates a Health and Safety policy on the Showground. All riders must wear protective headgear. The Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show strongly recommends the wearing of a skull cap manufactured to the relevant current BSI Standard, which in the arena must be worn with a plain dark coloured peaked cover, or a riding cap to the relevant current BSI Standard. The Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show recommends the wearing of protective headgear whilst leading any horse or pony. Such headgear must be worn with a chin strap correctly and securely fastened at all times whilst mounted on the showground. The Society shall not be liable for any loss (whether for death or personal injury or for any consequential or indirect loss suffered) in relation to the protective helmets worn by riders and in particular but without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing any failure by riders to wear protective helmets to the recommended standard. 8. The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry or restrict the number of entries in any class. 9. In restricted Classes, the radius mentioned, to be reckoned from the Showground to the Competitors permanent place of residence. If disputed this shall be measured by the Chairman of the Horse Section or his deputy upon the Ordnance Survey Map belonging to the Society and his decision shall be final. 10. All entry fees quoted in this schedule are inclusive of VAT at the standard rate of 20%. 11. If due to unforeseen circumstances the selected Judge is unable to fulfill their commitment, the Committee reserves the right to appoint an alternative Judge at short notice (after printing of the schedule), without informing Competitors prior to the start of the show. 12.
