Sitting Volleyball Rules Please note: The 2014 Warrior Games is not a qualifying event for the Paralympic Games or any other U.S. Paralympics or International Paralympic Committee sanctioned event. Team Composition This tournament will consist of five (5), 12 player (maximum) teams with no substitutes. The five teams will represent the Army, Marine Corps, Navy/Coast Guard, Air Force and SOCOM. Key Rule Modifications from World ParaVolley Official 2013-2016 Sitting Volleyball Rules GENERAL EVENT RULES Tournament Format: Teams will play four (4) matches operating in a round-robin format. Teams will then be seeded to play the bronze and gold medal matches. Players will be required to wear their bib numbers on the back of their uniform to track serving order and substitutions for the scorekeepers. All matches will be the best two out of three sets. To win either set one or set two, a team must earn 25 points and have a two point advantage over their opponent. If a team does not have a two point advantage, then play will continue until such advantage by either team is gained. Should the teams each win one set, then a third set will be played. To win set three, a team must earn 15 points and have a two point advantage over their opponent. If a team does not have a two point advantage, then play will continue until such advantage by either team is gained. In the event of a tie at the conclusion of round robin play, the seeds will be determined based on the following methods. For a tie between two teams, the winner of the match between the two teams in the round robin play will advance as the higher seed. For a tie between three or more teams, the set quotient, or total number of sets won divided by the total number of sets lost, for all pool play matches, of the teams involved in the tie, will determine how the teams are seeded. If this does not break the tie; then the each team s point quotient, or total number of points won divided by the total number of points lost, for all pool play matches of the teams involved in the tie will determine how the teams are seeded. If this does not break the tie, then a coin toss will be conducted to determine who the highest seed will be. These processes do not repeat once the tie is broken.

Modifications or additions are noted in Italics and Underlined. A note about the change may be listed in Bold below the modification. 1.1 The playing court is a rectangle measuring 10 m x 6 m, surrounded by a free zone which is recommended to be a minimum of 3 m wide on all sides. 2 Net and Posts This recommendation will be implemented when facility space allows. All efforts will be made to create the minimum amount of free space surrounding the court to give players ample room to continue play. All efforts will be made to set up the net conforming to the requirements as stated, using the equipment and facilities provided. 4.1.1 A team may consist of a maximum of 10 players. No more than 5 coaches and staff are permitted to be on the team bench, and must also be listed on the roster. Each team will submit a roster that includes uniform numbers and classification status for each player prior to the start of the tournament, and no changes will be accepted. 4.1.3 Deleted 4.3.3 Deleted 4.3.4 Deleted Please review the Warrior Games Sitting Volleyball Classification sheet regarding team composition and play (Attachment 1). In the case of a 24 24 tie, play is continued until a two-point lead is achieved (26 24; 27 25; ). All matches are the best of 3 sets. 6.3.1 The match is won by the team that wins two sets. 6.3.2 In the cast of a 1-1 tie, the deciding set (the 3 rd ) is played to 15 points with a minimum lead of 2 points. 6.4 Deleted The Warrior Games leadership will make appropriate decisions to handle any matter that prevents play from beginning or ending according to the rules of play. 7.2.1 Prior to the match, teams will have a warm-up period consisting of 2 minutes of shared court time away from the net, 6 minutes of shared hitting at the net, and 1 minute of shared court serving. 7.2.2 If either captain requests separate (consecutive) hitting at the net, the teams may do so for 3 minutes each. The defined warm-up period will begin at the appropriate time in consideration of the scheduled match start time. 7.3.1 There must always be six players per team in play. The six players on the court may include a maximum of two (2) able-bodied players, a maximum of four (4) minimal disability players, and minimum of two (2) permanent disability players. If one or no minimal disability players are on the court, then their positions may be utilized by one or two additional permanent disability players only. All six players on the court may be of the permanent disability classification, however when one or more is to be replaced, such substitutions may not exceed the maximums of the able-bodied and minimal disability classifications as previously listed.

In the event a player is injured during a game, the injured player may be replaced by a substitute player in an equal or lower functioning classification category. If a team is unable to comply with this substitution rule, the team will play with 5 players on the court. The injured player may return to the game after being seen by the team s medical staff. The need to move off the court for a time-out is not necessary for the Warrior Games. However, it should be noted that any delay in resuming the match to clean up any spilled liquids on the court, may result in a Delay Sanction penalty at the discretion of the officials. 15.6.1 A player of the starting line-up may leave the game and re-enter only to his/her previous position on the lineup. The reference of only one exit and one re-entry for a player in the starting lineup has been removed to allow for multiple exits and re-entries. 15.6.2 A substitute player may enter the game in place of a player of the starting line-up, and he/she can be substituted by any player from the bench who has not already entered the set in a different position within the lineup. The reference of only one entry by a substitute has been deleted.
