August Crime Report 2017 PURPOSE: The purpose of this report is to provide an analysis of Coeur d Alene crime for the month of August 2017. Information provided: Compstat Report for calendar month and year to date. Compstat Monthly Map for calendar month. Month to Month Comparison Maps Part 1 Crimes (Compstat Crimes) by calendar month. Crime by Neighborhood & Locations of Field Interview Map for calendar month. Calls for Service (Priority 1 & 2) Hot Spot Map by calendar month / Districts 81 85 DATA SOURCE: The information used for this analysis was Summit / Spillman data compiled using CrimeView Mapping / Analysis and Crystal Report / Excel Statistical Charts.

Aggravated Assaults 36% Increase: Incident breakdown - Seven domestics, four incidents where the victim/suspect were known to each other and four incidents where the offender was a stranger. Dispositions: Six closed by arrest, seven active, one closed and one prosecutor refused. Rape Large Increase: All of the incidents reported have known suspects and are active cases. Robbery Person: Two incidents reported. Both incidents lack a suspect and remain active. Arson 33% Decrease: Two dumpster fires, suspect in custody. Auto Burglary 63% Increase: The majority of the incidents reported were in district 83. No suspect have been identified. Non-Residential Burglary 25% Decrease: Two storage units forcefully entered and one hotel room. Auto Burglaries by District Residential Burglary 25% Increase: Incident breakdown Eleven active and four inactive. Most cases indicate the victim s residence was unsecure and very little missing, tools, bikes, etc. No distinct pattern (MO, location, suspect). Theft 21% Increase: Incident breakdown 17 incidents closed by arrest, 38 active and 20 inactive. Bicycle thefts and shoplifting were the highest contributors. Vehicle Theft 33% Decrease: Incident breakdown Four vehicles were reported stolen. Three were recovered locally, one remains stolen. 3 11 3 9 81 82 83 84 85

Traffic stops and pedestrian checks are now included in the Calls for Service statistics. Removing these two types of calls would show a 9% increase in calls, as opposed to a 32% increase.
