This includes record books for ALL members who exhibited beef, swine, sheep, goat, rabbit, poultry, horse, dog and any member who was named Outstanding General Project Record Book in their division at the County Fair. Please Remember that turning in a complete Livestock record book is a requirement for project completion. Turning in these record books is also a requirement to be considered for Outstanding Record Book Awards that will be presented at the 2017 Baca County Achievement Banquet. Record books should be up to date and complete when turned into the office. Livestock record book turn in is mandatory, but resubmitting general project record books is optional as they have already been judged for completeness. Turning them in is simply for consideration for outstanding record book. Below is a list of members who were named outstanding record book in their division and are in the running for overall outstanding general record book if turned in by September 12 th. If these record books are currently at State Fair, they will be considered when they return. Please contact the Extension Office with questions. Would you enjoy planning the years activities, learning new leadership skills, and getting to know your fellow 4-Hers? Now is the time! It s time to elect new 4-H Council Officers and club representatives! Contact the office for an application to become a Baca County 4-H Council Officer and for a copy of the Baca County 4-H Council Bylaws so you can get a better idea of roles, responsibilities, and the happenings of Council. If you are interested in applying, applications are to be turned into the extension office by Friday, September 8 th. Elections will take place at the Council Meeting on the 11th, so any nominations received after that date will not be considered. Members must be present for elections in order to be elected unless prior arrangements are made with the Extension Office. Installation of the new officers will take place the 2017 Baca County 4-H Achievement Banquet on October 8, 2017. If you are interested in becoming a Council representative for your club, please contact your club leader for more info. Council meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:15 p.m. If you have any questions contact the Extension Office. NOMINATIONS FOR 4-H FAMILY OF THE YEAR AND HONORARY 4-H MEMBERS These awards are presented by the Baca County 4-H Council to help recognize our biggest supporters and most active families. Nominations received by clubs or individuals will be accepted. To make a nomination, please prepare a statement detailing why the nominee should receive the respective award. Nominations are to be turned into the Extension Office or brought to the Council Meeting on September 11 th, 2017. Voting will take place at that Council Meeting. The awards will be presented at the 2017 Baca County 4-H Achievement Celebration on October 8, 2017. Dare to Be You 4-H Camp Join us for a fun filled weekend of making new friends and learning to be the best 4-H er you can be! Dare to Be You 4-H Camp is November 3rd through 5th at the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo. The camp is open to 4-H members ages 11 to 13 (as of December 31st, 2017). The cost is $50 per camper, which includes lodging, registration, meals and workshop supplies. There will also be a $5-10 travel cost added to the cost of the camp depending on the number of Baca County attendees to help cover travel costs. Registration is being done through 4-H Online through September 30th. For more information contact the Extension Office. Catch-a-Calf Contest Applications are currently being accepted for the 2018 National Western Stock Show Catch-a-Calf Program. The program is open to any 4-H member that is 12 and older by December 31st, 2017. Youth that sign up for the program will compete at a 2018 NWSS rodeo performance to catch a calf. Those that are successful will receive a calf in May 2018. They are responsible for all care and must purchase their own feed and equipment. The deadline to apply is December 1st, 2017.
