1 EVENT DAY The KDF Charity Dragon Boat Challenge shall be on: - SATURDAY 8 th OCTOBER 2017, 0900hrs to 1400hrs 2 RACING VENUE 2.1 The racing venue shall be Kallang River, off Kallang Riverside Park (AKA Nursery Beach ). BOAT MARSHALL Kallang Dragon Boat Nursery 2.2 The Organizers will provide shelters (shared basis) for the first twenty (20) teams that registered. 2.3 Teams may use their own gazebos however please inform SDBA if you wish to do so, in order to be assigned an allocated area for it. 3 RACING DISTANCE The racing distance shall be 200m, marked by clearly visible buoys placed in a straight line at intervals down the length of the race course. 4 RACING LANES 4.1 The number of racing lanes for the race course is four (4). 4.2 Lane 1 is nearest to the location of the finish line judges (nearshore) Page 3 of 6
5 START PROCEDURE The Start shall be the DRUMMER HOLD-BUOY start method 6 RACING CATEGORY There shall be two (2) racing categories: 6.1 DB12-crew Corporate Mixed a. This racing category is open to Singapore companies registered under the Companies Act or under any corresponding previous legislation and includes any corporate formed or incorporated outside Singapore and any branch or subsidiary thereof provided that it is so registered. b. Singapore Statutory Boards and Partly Corporatized Government Entities are also eligible to participate in this category. c. The racing crew shall consist of ten(10) paddlers plus one(1) drummer plus one (1) steersperson plus two(2) reserves, for the maximum of 14 racers. d. The racing crew of (10) paddlers plus one(1) drummer plus one (1) steersperson (described in Item 6.1.c above), MUST consist of a minimum of four(4) and a maximum of six(6) female paddlers. e. The minimum number of racers allowed to race in the DB12 is eight(8) paddlers (excluding drummer and steersperson). f. Each Team can submit more than one(1) Racing Crew BUT the Racing Crew must be made up of different individuals. Sharing of paddlers, drummer and/or steersperson among the different Racing Crew is not permitted. 6.2 DB12-crew Club Crew Mixed a. This racing category is open to all and any Singapore dragon boat teams. b. The racing crew shall consist of ten(10) paddlers plus one(1) drummer plus one (1) steersperson plus two(2) reserves, for the maximum of 14 racers. c. The racing crew of (10) paddlers plus one(1) drummer plus one (1) steersperson (described in Item 6.2.b above), MUST consist of a minimum of four(4) and a maximum of six(6) female paddlers. d. The minimum number of racers allowed to race in the DB12 is eight(8) paddlers (excluding drummer and steersperson). e. Each Team can submit more than one(1) Racing Crew BUT the Racing Crew must be made up of different individuals. 7 RACE PROGRESSION 7.1 The race progression shall utilize the following format (if 12 or more teams): Heat Winners + Next Fastest (if have) SF Winners + Next Fastest (if have) HEATS SEMI FINALS FINALS Other finishers REPECHAGE Fastest finishers 7.2 The race progression shall utilized the following designated lane allocation:- a. Fastest Heat & Semi Final Winner/Fastest Repechage Finisher : Lane 3 b. Next Fastest Heat & Semi Final Winner/Next Fastest Repechage Finisher : Lane 2 c. Next Fastest Heat & Semi Final Winner/Next Fastest Repechage Finisher : Lane 4 d. Next Fastest Heat & Semi Final Winner/Next Fastest Repechage Finisher : Lane 1 7.3 The final progression format will be confirmed in the Team Managers Meeting, i.e. no. of Heats, Repechages, Semi-Finals, etc. 7.4 The Organizers reserve the right to adjust and/or change the race progression format. The changes and/or amendments, if any, will be confirmed at the Team Managers Meeting 8 RACE CANCELLATIONS 8.1 In the event that The Organizers need to cancel races to maintain a feasible race timeline, the following races will be cancelled based in order of priority:- a. All Repechages Progression to Semi Finals will therefore be determined by the time ranking of the Heat Winners and if there is still position to progress other finishers after the Heat Winners, by the time ranking of the other finishers. b. All Semi-Finals Progression to Finals will therefore be determined by the time ranking of the Heat Winners c. All Finals The 1 st -2 nd -3 rd Positions (Gold-Silver-Bronze finishers) shall be determined by: i. If Semi Finals were successfully completed: by the time ranking of the Semi Final Winners ii. If only Heats were successfully completed: by the time ranking of the Heat Winners 8.2 The Organizers reserves the right to adjust, amend, replace and/or even cancel any part of the race Page 5 of 6
9 PERSONAL FLOATATION DEVICE (PFD) 9.1 Compulsory to wear ISO 12402-5 or equivalent standard PFDs. 9.2 Teams that does not have their own set of ISO 12402-5 or equivalent standard PFDs, may hire them directly from SDBA at SGD$5 per PFD 10 PADDLES 10.1 Compulsory to use IDBF spec.202a paddles. 10.2 Teams that does not have their own set of IDBF spec. 202a paddles, may hire them directly from SDBA at SGD$5 per PFD 11 STEERSPERSON 11.1 The steersperson MUST be a SDBA Qualified Helmsman, with the following certification:- a. SDBA Basic Helm OR b. SDBA Recreational Trainer OR c. NCAP Level 1/2/3 Coach in Dragon Boat 11.2 If The Team does not have your own organic steersperson in your crew, you may contact SDBA. We can facilitate to match the Team with a SDBA Qualified Helmsman 12 REGISTRATION 12.1 Form F2: Registration. Please fill in Form F2 to indicate which category you will be participating in and how many racing crews you will be sending. Submit Form F2 before the registration closing date 12.2 Form F3: Crew List. Please fill in the names of your racing crew. Submit Form F3 by the Team Manager Meeting 12.3 Registration Opens: 25 th Aug 2017 12.4 Registration Closed: 17 th Sep 2017 13 FEES & PAYMENT METHOD 13.1 Early bird, 25 th to 31 st Aug: SGD$149.80 (including GST) per racing crew 13.2 Normal, 1 st to 17 th Sep: SGD$214 (including GST) per racing crew 13.3 All payments must be by cheque, payable to KDF 13.4 KDF will follow-up with the issuance of receipts as well as tax relief invoice < END > Page 6 of 6
